I must need to change my perspective, because I can't find humor in this.

I find it sad. Sad that a person either has high end snakes and knows nothing about how to breed them or is trying to scam other people; sadder still that it's likely more than one person has been ripped off (whether intentionally or not) and will have a jaded opinion of this industry because of it.

I'm sure Jason is done posting, though he's still reading this. That means he has no intention of making anything right. How disheartening for this hobby.

Oh man - I can't believe this

Friggin' hilarious... and bad for most of us "small" guys that are trying to get into the business.
Genetics is a somewhat complicated field, and to tell everybody the truth, there is NO way that this guy has a clue. The guy can't spell the word "Ball" - my daughter (who is 2 yrs old) can spell that word !
Double hets can be tricky - but even I understand Dominates and Co-doms . And I'm a milksnake breeder - where it's all recessives.
My question is (to BBB - that's a good one), regarding your grant for $127 K, how in the world did you manage to correctly spell the website name in your browser? WWW is a tough one to get right every time !
C'mon Jason (by the way, you should captilize the first letter of your name (English language - taught somewhere around age 5) do us small time guys a favor and disappear - it's hard enough for newer guys like me to get rid of REAL hets at good prices - due to guys like you.

I would even venture to say that this guy doesn't even know the proper husbandry for Balls. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he picked up a few fresh imports (probably hasn't even fed them yet - cuz he doesn't know what a snake eats) and is making a nice profit to pay off that "grant" Oh, (Jason) before you hang yourself with ANOTHER rope, a "grant" is "free" money - you wouldn't have to repay it like you would a loan.
Sorry everybody - I had to give him that one - I wouldn't want to "kick him (again) while he's down.

For one thing, to get a Government grant you have to be non-profit in most cases, or show how what you're doing is benefiting people in some sort of way besides yourself. That being said, all my snakes, lizards etc... that I acquire with the grant cash can never be bred to make a profit, so they are all merely for display and educational purposes. That was the first thing I was told when I went through the grant proposal. This all either one big lie, or this KID just screwed himself since he is now trying to sell snakes he acquirred through Govt money.

I am very new into Herps myself.

I started with Corns and Kings. I found that in corns unless its a normal, everybody wants to say its het for multiple hets. Not having much knowledge if genetics and genes I can't really understand the whole process. For the most part I have come to the conclusion the more you want a specific pattern or color the harder it is to get from any het parents.

There are many web sites that offer free help in common het success stories, but if as your needs for rarer and rarer mutations, color, or breeds continues the subject of het becomes obsolete and more of a lottery.

In corns there is a morph known as the Motley. I have seen so many diffrent motleys that I have come to my own conclusion (don't flame me for my opinion). The motley Corn snake is the result of a breeder not getting what he wanted when he was breeding for something specific, or just an accident. Although some are rather cool in apearance, there is not a specific het for motley, instead its multipile hets that just CRASHED together and out came a motley.

Therefore.. DON'T bet on hets if you can't afford it. Let the professional breeders hatch/birth the snakes you want.

All hets snakes should be looked upon as what they are seen as, not what they may carry. Unless you have physically seen the parents or the breeder is WELL ESTABLISHED (even then a het is a bet).


To all of this... Jason C. If you have been breeding these snakes for 4 years, and I have just been raising snakes for just two years waiting to breed in a year or two. You obviously can't possibly have what you claim too, nor are your explainations believable.

Lets just look at the basics of BALL (not bald) Python. Yes its the most common first snake to inexperianced herp owners, because they tend to be very tame. BUT they are very peticular for thier enviroment and will refuse to eat let alone breed unless kept exceptionaly well. Hunger means nothing to a Ball that is not happy with their surroundings. Much like a P.O.W. they will simply 'will' themselves to death, then to continue to endure such harsh conditions.
I further doubt you have the knowledge or skills involved to even get a ball python ready to breed.

Suggestion: goto ebay and auction off the Brooklin Bridge starting at $1. You can always say there isn't a blue book on the bridge so you can sell it cheap to sell more of them.
