I placed an order with this seller for a green iguana, female, 3-4 ft, in good health, $120 SHIPPING INCLUDED. it was over presidents day weekend so i used paypall (his paypall name was [email protected].) i was told she would come in a 3 1/2 ft triagular box w/ blankets and heat pads. She was to be shipped on tuesday and  would be in new jersey at my door before twelve wednesday morning. He was to call me tuesday morning once he shipped her to guareentee she was on her way. Then the horror begain.

I recieved no call on tuesday morning. I would up calling his house and asking "did u ship the iguana this morning" he then replyed and was quick to say "yes" and then basically hang up.
About 3<img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>0 pm i recived a ring at my door. There stood the postal worker with a beat up  2 1/2 by 2 ft cardboard box w/ holes in it. Postal tape was all over the box sealed. THE POSTAGE DATE STATED IT WAS SHIPPED ON THE 16th of FEBRUARY. THIS LIZARD WAS IN TRANSIT FOR 3 days!!!!!!! I quickly took the box into the kitchen and opened it very carefully. Inside the box was yet another HORROR.

The poor iguana was freezing. there were BALLS OF NEWSPAPER CRUMBLED AROUND HER LIKE SOME KIND OF BREAKABLE ITEM. She couldnt move. She was freezing. As i unpacked her, i noticed a scab on her face and her jaw was crooked, but i was too busy with rushing her up the stairs into the tub to heat her. Once she was to normal temp i examined the iggy. What i was about to see i could never belive.

Firstly she was only 2.5 ft at most. She was missing a back left foot toenail. her tail was bent. as i moved up i noticed her face. She had a scab to the right of her eye and her jaw was crooked. her eyes were watery and very dilated. As i moved my hand and fingers in front of her right eye it did not change, causing me to belive she is blind out of that eye. the other eye was not very responsive... Then i called the seller

I asked him why he packed no heat and shipped her REGULAR mail to me w/ newspaper. He then hung up on me.

I proceded to go online FURIOUS. Later that day my mother made a call  to his parents. i had a conversation with him it goes as follows online:

HE ACCUSED ME OF BEING AT FAULT!!!!

The next day passed...The scab fell off...it now shows that her lip is gone on the upper right hand side. She wouldnt sleep in her cage because she couldnt see anything and was franticly climbing the walls. Her left eye is now infected.

My vet appointment is saturday morning, that is if the iguana makes it through the night. Shes been sleeping for a while. Seems like she has a respitory infection, SERIOUS eye infections, Mouth sores, and something wrong w/ her arms (she cant extend them)

Throughout all of this, i did clearly state to the seller "i would like my money back" he told me no refunds. He then proceded to go into the reptile chat room on AOL, and tell everyone he offerd me heat packs and overnight shipping but i was too cheap to pay for them. He then said his reptiles were GUAREETEED. He blaintly lied.

This HORRIBLE sellers name is Jason LineBaugh, he lives in Homestead Florida and advertises on kingsnake and the chatrooms. He is a 17 year old kid who does NOT know what hes doing. DO NOT BUY FROM HIM. Right now i am taking legal messures to   stop his ANIMAL CRUELTY. if u have any questions please email me @ [email protected] u suspect your seller is him, i have all his address and phone #....

How did you ever find this idiot, anyway?? $120 for a 3' Iguana?? Come into MY store....I sell 3 footers for $49.99!! With ALL their toes, FULL tails, FAT bellies and ALERT eyes! What he did, and how he did it, was just SICK! I hope he makes it long enough to get to the Vet, and possibly get better?
If you don't think he's eating....try an eye-dropper and Gerber's Veggie Baby Food mixed with a little Pedialite and squirt some down his throat! He NEEDS SOME nutrition!! Good luck, kiddo....let us know if you EVER get any satisfaction from this kid! ....Neil
 
this is sickening.  you could get an iguana 10x more healthy from rescue or adoption--much less paying over $100 for it.  my guess is that this guy picked this lizard up as a rescue or adoption and turned around and sold it for $ (before rehabilitating it of course--and then making matters worse with his lovely shipping).  i hope some other people that live in this guy's area might be able to find more out--make sure this guy doesnt get any more rescues to turn around for a scam.  
you are in for some steep vet bills.

Honestly, we get large iguanas all the time at my store.  We usually give them away (i.e. Popcorn Park Zoo, a Zoo that is for "misfit" animals, they have one eyed donkeys, abandoned monkeys, confiscated lions, etc.)  I could never imagine selling an iguana for that much money.  The point of this is that this kid got a cheap animal and tried to make a lot of money on it, which he did.  He made more money by sending it priority mail instead of next day.  This kid sounds like a little creep, especially in your ims.  Can you tell us where this kid posted his iguana for sale?

Let me just point out one thing....

When my mother called his parents the mother said "Oh i dont know, the BOYS arent home" could this be the that he has a brother and it is two kids that are shipping these sick animals? something to think about. I was told to contact the post master for MAIL fraud.... gonna do that today. the iggy is still alive so lets pray she can hold off till saturday for the vet...we shall bring this kid to justice...

Melissa....If you already have their phone number....I would suggest you CALL THE MOTHER AGAIN and explain what happened AND tell her EXACTLY what you're going to be doing (or HAVE done)! The parents ARE RESPONSIBLE for the WILLFUL MISCONDUCT of their MINOR children! The PARENTS will be the one's you will SUE! I'd make it VERY CLEAR to the PARENTS that this is NOT a laughing matter! um the vet is tomorrow (friday) morning at 11:30 am...

when i get legal papers from the vet, stating the injurys and the time lengh they would have taken to get that bad.... im gonna take it from there...

For Jason---Let's pack your a$$ up in a cardboard box with a little paper around you and stick you in the mail for a few days and see what happens!!  Hopefully you'd get a bit cold, hungry, and abused!   Stick to being the kid that you are and save a few animals!!

Go to the AOL chat and let people know what happened.  Then go to Kingsnake.com and file a complaint.  Hopefully some action will be taken!  Good Luck!!
 
It's obvious to me this guy and his whole family are trash. When I ship an animal it is MY responsibility to make every effort to ensure its safety and comfort. I don't care who paid for what! I ship via Airborne and instead of letting the truck pick up at my place I personally make a 25 minute trip to their office at the airport at 8:30 PM just half an hour before they close to make sure the animal is packaged an absolute minimum of time. Do I have to make this effort? Maybe not but I feel I've done my best to place the least amount of stress on the animal. I use at least two sometimes three 40 hr. heat packs depending on the size of the animal and box. Isn't arrival of a warm healthy animal key to the animal and the customers happiness? Forget any support from Paypal. They're a bunch of idiots with no clue or care about these types of issues. Not long ago I had an animal arrive "alive" that died within seven hours after arrival not long ago from so many ailments I don't want to get into it here. Paypal's response was "they don't guarantee the condition of items bought through their service." That was the extent of their "investigation". You might as well face reality here. You've been ripped off and in my case I don't have the time to pursue these types of cases but I have learned ways to avoid them and that's to use this board religiously and deal with known reputable dealers. Even then you'd be surprised with what I have to put up with. A few days ago I was to trade for a beautiful adult female Salmon Boa. The shipper used the USPS (he never told me who he was using) and when they told him it might be two days he shipped anyway! A $900 seven foot beutiful Salmon with two whimpy 12 hour heat packs with the potential for a two day trip to New Hampshire? Needless to say it was a DOA even though it was delivered by the next day. When I notified the seller he seemed like it was no big deal. I on the other hand was very shaken and upset by this. Every time an animal dies needlessly it's like losing family to me and I'm emotionally shaken. I guess you call it compassion which is something this fool you unfortunately dealt with has no concept of. I really hate to read about things like this. It's very upsetting and I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope you are at least somehow compensated financially for the loss but it doesn't look good in my opinion.
 
Greg...You have GOT to tell us who the SCHMUCK was that would send an adult Salmon BOA ILLEGALLY via USPS with 12-hr heat packs to NEW HAMPSHIRE!! I've got to MAKE SURE I NEVER order ANYTHING from THAT company! I hope you got compensated??? ....Neil

I don't think this person was experienced shipping animals to cold climates. After I told him about what happened his response was that he suspected the animal died from something else and that I should immediately destroy the box and disinfect anything it came in contact with. I wonder if he suspected it could have had IBD? Did he obtain it from Bill Cagle or the likes? He said he only had it two weeks and kept it completely quarantined at his facility. Then I thought that's nice he wanted me to trade three animals for something he thinks may have been sick? Well I was ready to do the trade but obviously didn't because he shipped first and all I got was a DOA. I looked at how nice the animal was and how much I was looking forward to hooking her up with an adult male albino. As I looked at the poor animal all I could do was shake my head that something so beautiful that had taken years to grow to this point lost it's life due to negligence. I don't believe the animal was sick at all it simply froze. There were two partners involved with e-mail addresses of Chris@[email protected] and Richard at [email protected]. I believe they were out of Arizona with phone# 602-439-8362. I'm providing this information because that's the purpose of this board and you requested it but Richard was great to work with. When I notified him of the animals demise he didn't even ask for a pic although I sent several anyway to erase any doubt. He just doesn't know how to ship to cold climates that's all. Such a shame. And for the record the animal or box and contents never came near my collection.

What the vet had to say...

the right eye is probably compeletly blind dude to a eye trauma, or a puncture to it. This goes along w/ the face, yet the face isnt anything to really worry about..

The left eye, has vision, to the extent of vision, he cannot tell, He said it wasnt infection and has enough vision to live in captivity. Meds were given for the eye.

He also said she has a respitory infection. He gave me medication for that.

She cant really move her arms and untill we do bloodwork we are lead to belive this was a muscle disorder she was born with, it doesnt seem to be imparing her ability to walk or climb so nothing to really worry about.

Good news is she is a normal weight for her length and she didnt act up at all on the vet table, athough when i put her on it she jumped from the cold...("thank goodness mommy brought a nice fleece blanket to put over that cold metal table"-holly the ig  )

The meds are as follows:

Atopine Opthalmic - to dilate and open the blind eye
1 drop, 2x a day; 7 days

Baytril- to heal respitory infection
0.05 ml; 1x a day

Tripil Antibiotic (perscribed from a vet)
as needed; 2x a day in eye and lip; 10 days  

this whole vet visit was around $85


I go back in 2 weeks for another checkup

Lemme just add one thing....anyone have any tips, seems like Holly cant see my big female, Rexy, headbobbing...this is causing trouble cause holly got into rexy cage last nite and rexy TRIED TO  Take off Hllys  tail when i tried to get Holly out.
