I just wanted to say I've done business with Jason a few times now, and each time has been a pleasure. He makes sure all animals are exceptionally healthy before letting them go. He's also very good about sharing information on keeping the animals he sells.
Thanks for the great looking, very healthy geckos Jason, I look forward to doing business with you again!

I've also done business with Jason, and I can say that every single moment was a pleasure. He was eager to talk geckos, and discuss the shipping arrangements in detail. He also was available almost every single time I had a question or doubt. *This would be the first time I ever had geckos shipped to me!* When UPS messed up, he didn't back off of his guaranteed live arrival, and we were in constant contact until I knew the geckos were fine.

He even arranged a pickup outside of UPS's normal hours for me to go to the center and get them. The people at UPS didn't understand what was so important, but Jason did! (A pair of LTC proven satanics to be precise!!!) After around 6 months, the pair is still doing great, and I have NO regrets about my purchase!!

Misunderstanding

I think some people are missing the point of the post. No one is claiming that Jason has bad animals or his premeditated intent is to screw his customers over. However, with that said, if something does go wrong Protean Imports/Jason Perillo is not willing to correct his mistake. He will give excuses, sob stories, etc. and then place the blame on the customer. Is that how an ordinary business would operate? Is that the chance someone wants to take when they are spending a good deal of money on animals?

Also, the fact that Jason changed his name from JP Imports to Protean Imports just as he received his large shipment is a little suspect. Believe what you will about these unusual circumstances, but buyer beware.

Its rather ironic

as to how generous Jason is with small sales. But when it comes to a large sale, you would think he would be extra generous with his methods of doing business.

But as the prior observation was made. Let the buyer beware. Jasons TOS are nothing but a opportunity to absolve onesself if a problem occurs regardless of who is at fault : whether the buyer receives the animals , or even if the buyer does not receive the animals! Nice way to do business !In any case, I think this thread should be added to the one already in existence. I am uncertain about starting a new thread when one already exists.

Hey Liz and Jerry, GET A LIFE! There's already threads going ( two, only one of which should still be up) discussing what you want to talk about. This thread is for people who have actually done business with Jason, and had a good experience. It should not include people who have never even talked to Jason ( Liz) or people who have done trades with Jason, and did not fulfill their end of the trade ( Jerry). Have a nice life you two, I hope you can find something better to do with your time

Better things to do with our time Andrew aka flamedcrestie. You mean like make posts......hmm...isnt that what you are doing? So those in glasshouses andyboy......

I have also done business with Jason.

I traded Jason for 1.1 U. guentheri (a species I've wanted since I first saw the picture of them in the "Geckoes" book). Everything went well. Once the weather was in order, I shipped and he shipped. The geckos arrived tip top, and the female already had endolymphatic sacs (which, if you know anything about the calcium metabolism of this species, is phenomenal).

They've been laying eggs every 3 weeks since Feb, and my first are ready to bust out any day now.

In my eyes, that is a nice way to business.

Daniel

with regard to your last post. I am thrilled that your shipment from Perillo worked out well for you. That is the way all shipments should be, or at least try to be! I believe and I am sure you will agree that is what everyone strives for when doing business.

I have no argument their. But in the case that transpired between Jason and Steven, where the financial amount was substantially higher, you would assume that Jason would attempt to do what is necessary to resolve the problem that HE (Jason) caused and "do the right thing" instead he had his infamous TOS as his basis "in times of trouble"

I posted his TOS on a different thread that seems to have continued here, and I dont want to rehash what was already posted. But Daniel, why would someone have such a inhospitable, unnecessary , TOS unless they had previous difficulties in the past. It makes no sense, to offer something for sale under those conditions.

Any reasonable person would immediately realize that their is something wrong here. Secondly, why would anyone take the risk of buying under those terms knowing that if anything , and I mean anything went wrong, all the liability is on you. Regardless of how the shipment arrived, or when it arrived, or even if it arrived ! As was the case with Steven.

Thats all I have to say on that subject.

Just one other point which is incidental to this post. I understand that Jason has posted a thread with regard to my experiences with him. I just want the reader and you to understand. My dealings with Jason did NOT involve a cash transaction. It was a trade. The reason for the argument revolves around Jason not being satisfied with the results of that trade. Their was NO cash involved, nor was their any attempt to weasel out of an obligation. He shipped me, and I shipped him. He was dissatisfied, and that is crux of the difficulty. But I owe Jason nothing as it was a barter.

Some advice for everyone: If you are not comfortable with the terms of sale, don't make the purchase. Contrary to what many say, animals are not replacable.

Any attempt to imply Jason's (or anyone's, for that matter) motives for conducting business the way he does, is purely speculation, and has no place on a facts-only forum like this.

Jerry,

You can say whatever you want about your barter with Jason. Unfortunately for your story, however, is the fact that I have seen many of the messages that were exchanged betweened the two of you. Additionally, your history for threatening legal action does nothing to help your case in my eyes.

One particular quote that really grabbed my attention was when you said something along the lines of "Drosophilia eggs were added to your cultures to insure accelerated production." [NOTE - this is not an exact quote]

Now Jerry, I'm not in the Drosophilia business but I have taken genetics courses and thus know a thing or two about basic Drosophilia biology. The eggs of D. melanogaster are 0.5mm long, are stuck the substrate, and only take hours to hatch. With that said, I have two questions. 1) How could you have possibly collected enough eggs to accelerate production? 2) How is that more efficient than adding more females? As far as I was aware, established cultures of Drosophilia consisted of dozens to hundreds of individuals from all age classes (eggs to adults), not a few adults and eggs which were said to have been sprinkled onto the media. In anycase, please let me know your methodology. I'm starting graduate school at the University of Rochester this fall. Much of the cutting edge Drosophilia genetics work is being done there, and I'm sure my professors would enjoy learning new cultivation methods.

Well????

I think we have a problem here

You may be a bit confused. When we set up the cultures we do so at least 24 to 36 hours in advance so that they (the flies) do begin to drop eggs 12 hours after they have been set up. This will insure additional flies in the cultuures. But I am not here to discuss my busiiness.

If you feel comfortable with doing business with Jason with his terms, then so be it.

As i indicated to him, I am not responding to get into a diatribe about my relation with Jason, and to argue who is right or wrong. It was a trade, no cash, just a barter. He was not happy. I felt we provided an equal value.

Its a mute point at this time. I just did not want people to think that their was cash involved when in fact their was not. As I said earlier, I am thrilled that you were satisfied with your shipment from Jason. They should all be like that.

Why its necessary for someone to have a TOS like that is indicative of a problem that is just waiting to happen... I have said enough at this juncture. Steve got most of his money back due to the pressure of this site. Had Jason had the opportunity to get away with not paying Steve back, he would have, and its as simple as that.

Its in his nature. He is an immature boy, who is mad at the world unless everything goes his way. Life does not work that way. Enough said.

Daniel

Look, the medium in each vial is activated once water has been added. The Melaongaster is placed in each vial. We know from good experience (15 years in the business) that 12 hours after the flies have been introduced, they will begin to drop eggs. Thats it. Their is nothing to read into.

So I hope that answers your question. But let me just take it one step further. So as to familiarize you with our business since you brought up the topic. When we receive an order , including Jasons trade, I pass the information to the people who actually fill the order and create the cultures. I dont prepare them in a little closet or a basement. That is not my responsibility. Each culture contains 50 to 100 flies. We do not segregate females from males, but the flies that we shipped Jason as well as many other people , propagate in 12 to 15 days producing more flies. (Their are some rules to that) but that is basically how it works. Jason may not have told you , but between the 2 shipments we sent Jason approx. 5000 Melanogaster. Thats allot of flies.

The people who prepare the cultures, never know who the orders are for. They just receive an amount, and provide the vials, or the containers. We dont hide things, or short change people, and we run a reputable business. We maintain one of the largest facillities in the country, and we are USDA approved for shipping , and licenced in every state except the territories.

After re-reading your questions, I sense some sarcasim, and I dont mean to trivialize any legitimate inquiries, but we know what we are doing. Its a area, that really goes beyond this thread.

I am responding out of courtesy, but their has to be a conclusion to this. For the 3rd and final time, this post pertains to Jason Perillo, not the business that I am employed in, nor fruitfly cultures or their egg production.

Its about your friend who hopefully has been embarrassed enough to realize that , he thought he could get away keeping monies without even providing the animals.

If I have not answered your questions satisfactorily, about our business procedures, please email us privately and I will be more than happy to provide additional information.

So as not to confuse the issue, you are correct, you misquoted your statement about collecting eggs. We dont collect anything. The flies drop the eggs in the containers they are shipped in. They (the eggs) are not visiable with the naked eye.

ps. I appreciate you sticking up for Jason, but if your smart, limit your business activities. Its a loosing proposition with his attitude.

Jason, I dont know why I am even bothering to reply to this email. But again, if you look at the first sentence of the note that I sent you it clearly states " This completes my barter with you" How much clearer does this have to be. The next sentence pertains to any cultures that you may want to purchase not barter and we will give them to you at a wholesale price of $ 3.00 ea. This is advertised in our catalogue as well. But not on a barter , only on a purchase. Why is this so difficult to comprehend.

The answer is simple, if you feel its necessary to attempt to manipulate the words, then by all means do so. Save the emails, Take full advantage of your legal rights to pursue this . I will be more than happy to accommodate you.

I think as I mentioned we pay taxes and declare business profits and incomes derived from our sales. We are a legal business in the state of Florida. We have a federal tax ID # , a business bank account and monies are accounted for . I dont believe this is the case with you. I find that reprehensible and I may do something about it if this harrassment continues I dont see the equality in you being able to run a business without declaring income. That really is a thorn in my side with individuals who seem to run basement businesses without have a legal business. Avoiding corp filing, and permits as well as state and federal taxes. That includes unreported income. I have made copies of your items for sale on Kingsnake as well as Geckophile. Lets see if you can squirm your way out of paypal paying you to your personal checking account and lets see if priors sales have been reported from paypal as well as other sources. The IRS makes it a life long ambition to go after smart people like yourself . I have no objections in helping them rid the likes of you with some stiff penalties and allot explanation that will keep you in hot water for years to come.

So go to google , and look up IRS form 3949A. This is it Jason, I told you last time, its over, their is nothing else to puruse. If you insist on annoying me, I can easily use a delete button, but you will not be so fortunate with the IRS. I am sending this email not only this way but through geckophiles just to make sure you receive it. This is my final email, any email that I receive from you from this point on will not provide a response from me. I promise you I will notify the IRS. Dont think I am kidding

directly from my geckophiles account. I will be posting everything else tonight when i get home from work. Anyone else ever had issues with jerry. I also will be posting photos of the vials of flies from when i received them as well as photos of how many vials fit per box. No culture reproduced enough flies to make additional cultures. I also will be posting a photo of a recent culture i received from a local distributor of what their cultures look like for comparison.

Lastly, I'll also post the photos I sent to jerry about my business license and my import license, photos of my sellers permit and my DBA's. have a nice day jerry.

:)

I guess I struck a nerve

I am not interested nor worried about any email I sent you. The fact that you want to provide readers with this information is nothing that I have to hide from. Its basically irrelevant to the issue at hand and nothing more than an attempt to hide the basic thread that this post is about.

Feel free to show photos, provide emails, or anything else that you feel will make your life less miserable than it probably is.

Good luck with your future endeavors, and when and if the time arises that someone needs some verification about doing business with you, and they happen to "Search" for your name or business, on the BOI, theirs enough skepticism to warrant a "concern".

Their will be no further replys.

My life is wonderful actually, I am quite pleased with where it has lead me. I am building a great business, a great job with a specialty optics company (who are very supportive of my business), I have a beautiful collection of animals, a supportive family and network of friends as well as a beautiful partner. what more do i need?

I have filed for a fraud watch on my social security number also, I have been informed you like to play with people's financial records. My lawyer will also be contacting you with a decease and desist order. If you fail to comply, I will make it a point to take you to court on all applicable accounts.

dear Jason

"I have filed for a fraud watch on my social security number also, I have been informed you like to play with people's financial records. My lawyer will also be contacting you with a decease and desist order. If you fail to comply, I will make it a point to take you to court on all applicable accounts"

I have better things to do with my life then to concern myself with your miserable affairs. The above statement basically reflects the childlike behavior that seems to permeate your daily activities. I dont know if its a paranoid problem or just plain stupidy. "Decease and desit ! Give me a break.

Its over Jason ! You have said what you wanted, I have said what I wanted, and as Ive said on many occasion, get on with your life. If you have a loving family and you are happy with your business and partner, then I wish you the very best.

too funny

your 'lawyer' called it a 'decease and desist order?' i hope that you are not paying him too much! the correct term is 'cease'. 'decease' is something that is dead-much like your credibility...

Jerry, I wouldn't humor this fool any more. You are so far above him and his 'lawyer.'
