In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Long story condensed a little bit I completed a trade with Jason in which I gave him a package of ball pythons (over $4000 worth of ball pythons) and in return I received a 2007 Yamaha Wolverine 4x4 along with some other things to go with it such as a cooler and garmin GPS rhino pair, goggles, helmet, etc. Well the bulk of the trade was for the four wheeler and to this day I still have no title to be able to register it and ride it. He supposedly brought it with him when we met but forgot to hand it to me and was going to mail it but I never received it. We completed the trade in November and around Jan/Feb he started ignoring me until I told him I was going to post a BOI about how I never received the title and then things got ugly. All I wanted was to get the VIN or whatever info he had so we could put this behind us by getting a new title but I'll let you guys read how the conversation went. I'll also post pics of where I think the VIN is supposed to be but its severely rusted to where you can't read any digits. If I could have got the VIN I would have just filed for a new title on my own and wouldn't have even contacted him.

For some reason the conversation didn't come up like I wanted it to. If anyone is more tech savy they can repost it on here in another format. I can take screen shots of anything in that conversation to prove legitamacy. The only changes I made was to ** out any cursing per TOS on this site.

Kinda suspicious that the only spot on that part of the frame that has any rust on it is where the vin is supposed to be. I'd be wary of the bike being stolen.

Yeah thats exactly what I was thinking, I've never personally owned an ATV until this one so didn't really know they had vins and titles otherwise it wouldn't have gone the way it did. Lesson learned the hard way but it won't happen again.

Is there supposed to be a vin plate? maybe its located somewhere else? This is the location it said its supposed to be online. I'm going to call Yamaha and go from there.

Check on the triple clamp, below the handlebars. That is where they usually put the numbers on dirtbikes. Probably the same on atvs. In ga you don't have to a title on dirtbikes/atvs. Just a bill of sale.

Well I scrubbed down the rusted numbers with a brush and WD40 and can make them out now but yeah looks like I'll never be getting a title and in NM without a title its basically a lawn ornament.

Personally, I would take the ATV to your local PD, or have an officer come out, to run the VIN and see if the ATV is stolen. If it is, I am sure the ATV would be confiscated but it is better than your holding onto a stolen item. Then all of Jason's info should be given to the officer.
If it turns out not to be stolen, I am not sure what you could do, to secure a title, other than filing a civil suit.

Well I did a vin check already and it came back not stolen and came back never being wrecked so i printed off that report to kind of cover my behind.

Am not sure which site you used but the problem is in knowing which data resources it accesses.
One site that may be good is the NICB.
Otherwise, having an officer check would be best.
BTW Saw where Jason threatened to report the ATV as stolen if you posted on the BOI. It very well could be an empty threat (more so if the ATV was indeed stolen) but, as you may know, that is nothing to worry about since you have documentation, re. the trade deal, plus his threat is documented. If he were stupid enough to report the ATV, as stolen, it would be a false report (which you could prove) and there are legal penalties for filing a false report.;)

Yeah that's why I want too worried about his threats because he incriminated himself by saying those things. It was the National insurance crime Bureau that i ran the vin under. Used Two others as well but I'd rather not cause unneeded attention through local authorities because I'm in a different state now so it wouldn't be in the NM system anyway. Plus they may ticket me or something for not having it registered which can't be done without a title.

To clarify this sentence, of mine, I mean to say that "Although, actually, having an officer check would still be your best bet". At least for 100% accuracy.
That said, it is good that you have at least something to show that the ATV is stated to not be stolen. Also, it shows you made reasonable attempt to assure yourself that it is not stolen.

You shouldn't get into any trouble, &/or should be able to show where you are not at fault, but can understand not wanting any possible hassle.
BTW when a vehicle is reported, as stolen, it goes into the NCIC. Which is nation wide.

Unfortunately he's not local. From east Texas. I did the trade when i was on orders in Wichita Falls several months ago. In Texas I guess you don't have to have the title or even resister an atv to go on public land (had to research it). So I'll probably end up trading or selling it to a Texas resident who can use it since I'm right on the west Texas border.
