In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Jasonturtles954... Really ?

So.. this is a bad guy thread - why? Encouraging people to go catch turtles and resell them does not warrant for a bad guy thread.

It does seem odd that he's in Florida posting that. You can hardly throw a stone without hitting someone selling reptiles, including turtles. I agree, though, this probably belongs in the Business forum.

No need to beat that horse, people.
Regardless of one's thoughts on the worth of the message, the OP felt strongly enough to post a warning; and it was done in the proper format....which means it is staying. Post after post expressing disapproval is not of value to the thread. In fact, it is disruptive and off topic when continued.
Please keep posts relevant to the subject of the thread: Jasonturtles954

Not to ague, but what is the warning for? It's not illegal to collect most freshwater turtles in Florida even for commercial purposes. Is he scamming people? Does the OP have more info on him? Here is Florida's regs:
Here is the regulation that applies to freshwater turtles in Florida:

"Wildlife regulations (68A-25.002(9) Florida Administrative Code) allow turtles to be taken manually or by baited hooks, bow, dip nets, traps so designed that any freshwater fish taken therein may escape, or by spearing only during daylight hours. They prohibit bucket traps, snares, and shooting with firearms for taking turtles. No person shall buy, sell, or possess for sale any alligator snapping turtle, box turtle, Barbour's map turtle, Escambia River map turtle, diamondback terrapin, river cooter, or loggerhead musk turtle, or parts thereof. No person shall possess more than two Barbour's map turtles, two Escambia River map turtles, two diamondback terrapins, two river cooters, two box turtles, two loggerhead musk turtles, or one alligator snapping turtle unless authorized by permit from the executive director. River cooters may not be taken from 15 April to 31 July. In addition, no softshell turtles nor their eggs may be taken from the wild during the period 1 May to 31 July, and no person shall possess more than 50 eggs taken from the wild in the aggregate of species of freshwater turtle native to Florida except as authorized by permit from the Executive Director."

I suspect it is based on thoughts that it is wrong to capture native wildlife for the pet (or food) trade; but it would be helpful if the OP would clarify.

I noticed she's from Illinois, too. I think all the neighboring states to me here in Michigan have similar laws that ban all commercial collecting of reptiles, especially turtles. It's illegal to even touch or "harass" most turtles here. She may have thought Florida's laws were similar.

He originally tried to sell them and then switched out the ad.

He still, as you pointed out and I implied, would require authorization to legally possess two.

Apparently, he was being reported for the attempted sale of his adult alligator snapper pair...don't know if it actually happened. I suspect that is why he changed the ad (both are still up, though)

The ad the OP seems to be addressing

Nickolas,
Please use screen shots, or copy/paste the ads (screen shots are better). Posting links isn't very useful once the ads are removed, which he can do at any time.
Quite frankly, if not for this thread, I would already have deleted some of the duplicates

A wise suggestion. Appreciated.

Apparently we would need to know more before reaching a conclusion. I went to Florida's FWC website and found they've updated the rules. Here's a link http://myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/managed/freshwater-turtles/
If they are wild caught he's not allowed to have ANY alligator snappers without a permit and only one with it. They seem to make an exception for cb turtles as long as you have proof they were legally obtained. Their rules are pretty complicated, though.

Regardless, unless/until the OP returns and gives more details about his concerns, we are all just speculating....
He's reading now, so hopefully he'll have something to add.

hhmoore guessed my concern early on... I think it is wrong (perhaps not "illegal") to encourage ordinary people to capture wild turtles for the pet trade. The "ordinary" person who is need of money could care less what type of turtle "he" is picking up to "sell" this guy... simply put.. it crawls and has a shell = MONEY!

I have no idea if this post is in the "right" or "correct" forum... to me.. encouraging possible illegal activity makes one qualified to be called "bad person."

I could go on and on.. but that is why I posted. I cant believe that Fauna Classifieds would knowingly give a voice to someone potentially seeking to violate wildlife laws. If I posted in the wrong section, I am confident the moderators will "fix" that. Ray austin

The turtles being sold have to come from someplace; and a lot of them are WC. Being in FL doesn't mean he has connections, so he was soliciting to meet his "needs". From his other posts, I'm not convinced that his goal is reselling...he had a couple of posts asking for information about breeding turtles, and his ads specify that he only wants adult, breeding size animals. For all we know, he's a budding turtle enthusiast that wants to try his hand at breeding - without the time investment of growing his own.
All speculation, of course, unless/until Jason joins the conversation. Has he been made aware of this thread?

(btw - I know a few females named "Ray"...actually, Ramonda, Raylene, and I'm not sure of the other one's real name; but most people know them only as Ray)
