    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Jeff and Christina Wise (Wise Reptiles) Stole Money from Benefit Auctions for Maggie

I'm going to bump this thread with a suggestion. I already did it myself. Send Maggie something as a gift via PayPal. I did. I've never met her but was outraged by this thread and figured I can't make back what was stolen but I can show her that a random stranger from the herp community cares.

OK, I couldn't send a lot, but I bet if everyone who has posted on this thread sent $10-20 that could help her a lot.

WOW This is all still going on?? I was wondering if they ever got theirs. I think it'd be fantastic if someone contacted their pastor. I did that to my ex brother in law when he was trying to steal from my husband after my husband's father passed away. Brought their pastor into it.

Many times scammers like this latch onto churches to squeeze money from loving members. It never hurts to give the pastor a head's up simply to protect the other members of the congregation.

A simple email with links directly to the pertinent information regarding the agreement to collect the donations, and the proof of failure to deliver the funds, and spending them elsewhere would be enough to show the pastor these are wolves in the flock he needs to keep an eye on. So many elderly folks with grown kids and retirement funds that will give their last dimes to help a family that's convincing like the Wises.

Good luck, keep fighting these people EVERY step of the way, and great detective work from the members of this site. If I ever need someone tracked down, I know where I'll come. :D
 
Incidentally: the Pastor at my ex bro-in law's church, took him off of being a Deacon and pulled him aside to talk to him after I showed him copies of letters his sweet, Christian wife wrote my husband cussing him out and threatening him, and the police report from the thefts. :) Sometimes Karma comes swiftly, sometimes you have to wait till the next lifetime.

Yes I agree - I half expect the Wises to set themselves up handling charitable collections for their church :angry:
 
and you can bet they will use their money drive here as and example... but you can also bet they wont state the truth... the whole truth... and nothing but the truth.
 
Agreed on both..That's why I hope someone does try to track down their church. I'd feel terrible if more people got swindled. This was probably one of the most disgusting things I'd ever read about on the BOI.

I cant even believe what Im reading, I havnt gone through this entire thread yet but this is the first time reading any of it. I knew the Wises scammed someone and shouldnt be trusted but this is disgusting. How in the world could you live with yourself after even thinking of doing something like this and then to actually follow through with it.:angry: And a few months later trying to friend Maggie on facebook. I am so pissed off and sick to my stomach right now I cant even think straight. They will get whats coming one day and then want everyone to feel sorry for them, and I hope everyone around them knows what scumbags they really are and dont fall for whatever scam they try running next.

Dennis, you are THE MAN.. Thank you! I'll be happy to send an email or make a call and see if I can get them to check out this crap. I'm sure they will take a stand of neutrality, but it will be in the back of their minds when they want to volunteer to head up any donations or if they start asking for $$ and that's enough to hopefully protect someone else.

What a joke!!

It took FOREVER for the home page to load...and the links don't work.

My computer-illiterate mother could do better.
 
I just sent messages to both their mothers on Facebook with a link to this thread, and a plea to get them to convince their children to finally stop running and do the right thing. I also sent a pleading email to their church's pastor ([email protected]), and a plea for investigative journalistic inquiry to the Petersburg Press-Dispatch ([email protected]), their local newspaper. I might suggest everyone else do the same... if that paper gets a lot of emails about the same issue, they may look into it. It does not seem like a large locality, so news like this would spread very fast and make it impossible to prey on any more people.

Whatever you do, please, if you contact their family, friends, or pastor, just send a link to this thread, and ask that they do whatever they can to get Jeff and Christina to do the right thing. There's no need for name-calling, vulgarities, or anything else... just let the facts speak for themselves. The point is to get them to read this thread, which will speak louder than any rant or obscenities you can cook up, so just let the thread speak for itself... if you come off like a stalker/harasser/half-cocked, they won't even give it a look.

It's time to let them know that they will never be able to hide from this. Chuck gave all of us so much here... and saved so many of us thousands of dollars at the hands of so many scammers... it's the least we can do to honor his memory.

I have taken steps to notify the Indiana Herpetological Society and the Kentucky Herpetological Society about these thieves.

Both of these groups will shortly be aware of these two lowlifes in their midst.
