I just received THE, as in not one of, most beautiful serpent I have ever owned -period. She is a 2009 holdback from Jeff Jones' collection, and at roughly 5' long, is absolutely stunning, and I think she knows it... Not only are her colors amazingly better than these pics show, but she is a big girl, at perfect weight for her age and length.
I had contacted Jeff a while back last summer, and he had already sold all of his snakes he was planning on selling for the year. A couple weeks ago, I contacted him, as well as a few other breeders, and asked him to put me on his wait list. Shortly after this, he offered me a deal on one of his holdbacks that I simply could not refuse. Not only was it the best looking specimen out of the several I had my eyes on, but I could tell he wanted to be sure she was going to someone that would give her a great home, and this was his first priority. He also gave me pointers along the way as to what he had learned over the years in caring for D. corais corais. He even went so far as to call me and make sure he had answered any and all questions I might have. So yes, Jeff Jones is my hero for not only selling the crowned jewel of my collection to me, but doing so in a professional way, with the interest of the animal in mind.
The only problem I have seen so far with this particular snake is she makes my male YTC not look as good as he used to, but hey, if a guy like me can make a cute kid like my son with a beautiful woman like my wife, then Mr. YTC sure has a good chance of producing some great-looking little YTCs with Mrs. YTC.
Here are some pics Jeff sent me before I purchased the little lady, and hopefully I will have more when she decides to lay up on her branch, the one that took me 6 hours to peel, in her new home. She was up there earlier looking absolutely stunning, but by the time I found my camera, she had moved back into her hide.
Anyway, I have no reservations whatsoever about highly recommending drymarchonsnakes.com for anyone who is interested in acquiring one of these gems, or simply wants to learn more about their care and breeding. Of course, once one starts learning about these guys, it is impossible to not want one, or two, or ten. It also will behoove one to get on the waiting list early since, like most breeders of this genus, he will be sold out quickly.
Tell him Tony sent you...
