• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Received this email response to a classified ad. Wanted to get the name out there, as it sounds questionable. I recall seeing threads on similar scams, but couldn't recall the names involved.

Here is a copy of the email.

purchase of your particular reptile posted on kingsnake.com.But before
i proceed in this transaction.

Sound fishy?

My typing skills are horrendous

Must have hit enter before I finished typing! Anyway, the IP is 192.116.79.148

I was sure that I had heard of similar scams...it never ends!

That's a New York IP. I would have guessed Nigerian. Anyway, that's a scam. The check will be a forgery and you will be out the money.

Hello seller,

This has SCAM written all over it, OKAY? ;)

Yet another one...

Perhaps this needs another thread, but I received suspicious email responses to additional ads. They are not from the same person, but appear to be the same sort of scam. I received the following in response to 3 separate ads. All three emails were exactly the same.

Hello
Greetings to you,My name is ramond,i saw your {item) placed on advert, and it
suits what i have been looking for since a very long time, based on the
description i have decided to buy it from you,i'll also like to know your last
asking price and also i have seen the pic,s and i,m ok with it.I am presently
not in the country ,i am in UK on a business trip,So i will like to ask you if
you accept to be payed with Via Money Order or a certified cashier check? If that
is accepted by you, kindly mail me back with
details
full name:
address:
city:
state:
country:
zipcode:
phone number:
Best regards.

The IP is 196.200.67.52

Should I start a new thread regarding Ramond?

Dwight, I received the same junk you did from two different names( Gerald Christopher & Robert) but they are using the same IP 196.200.67.52
and yet some more trash from Jeff McDonald IP 192.116.79.148
Gerald and Robert used the same letter word for word and Jeff wasn't any more creative.
I hope they keep looking "since a very long time"

196.200.67.52 localizes to 'S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, FWIW.

No need to start a new thread. They aren't real names anyway most likely.

I got both of these emails. I also got another the classic "I'll send you a cashier's check for $1000, you cash it, take what you're charging, and send me the rest" fraud. The latter REALLY made me angry, because these people aren't interested in the product they are supposedly buying, and the fact that they were pulling this stunt with live animals was unforgiveable. I sent them a very nasty email in response.

But yeah, these are all scams. Seller beware!

Actually if you really want to get them back, waste their time and money. Tell them since you are acting as their "payor" there will be an additional fee, haggle with them over it, and then insist that they overnight the "cashier's check". You can frame it after you receive it.

Each of the persons posting in here has at least received one under a different name. They are showing-up like mushrooms after a fall rain. My concern is that if we are going to start a new thread for every one of these scams we receive, we are going to clog the BOI. If you have time and want to play with them for a while that’s fine, but IMO once the key words/expressions: item, advert, “last asking price”, “out of the country”, “certified cashier check”, etc., show up in an inquiry, delete the ad at once and move on.

One other thing. How many people that offer animals for sale are truly prepared to ship them overseas? When you recive a request of this kind, do you even consider the possibility of going through all the paperwork hassle of exporting and individual animal or even a group?

THis is what I got in my email today. 2 times really regarding 2 different adds I have up.

Here is the copy of the email:

So its a scam right?

That would be a scam, anytime someone wants to send you more than your asking price and wants you to send the remaining balance to anyone, it's a set up to be ripped off. Also if this joker lives in the states (Oregon) why doesn't he want you to send your product to him and let him worry about shipping to son in the U.K.
I'd stay away, it sounds like a scam to me.

I just read this. It is the same guy who scammed me!! 100% sure! Writes the same exact way and the same format and words even. Sure wish I would have seen it sooner!

Diego, that one from Mike Cook is the same one I got. Sure wish I would have known.

100% scam . I recently received a $3500.00 bogus money order in the same fashion in payment for a $400.00 animal . The MO looked legitimate , however , one call to the issuer proved it's worthlessness . I was supposed to deposit it into my account and wire them the "excess" funds . Yea , right .

My understanding is that all they want is the money. No one ever comes by to pick up the animal, so the animal is never in any danger.
