In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

JeffB apparently doesn't like me having KINGSNAKES.COM...

nice example but...

I agree.. I have heard of that and many other examples... but it is obvious that king-snake.com was registered by an upset KS or fauna user.. or someone familiar with this all. It was registered on 3-8-04 by a person with comletely bs info.
His name is mystery man, and his addy is 12345 w. 1st ave... and his phone is 321-1234 ... I could be wrong.. but king-snake.com sounds like an obivious case of abuse. the person who registered this site, and as I said.. was NOT me.... is instigating.. and by all means do it!

IMHO the internet is setup to do just this!!! Look at these two examples.. cars.com and car.com ... both sell cars.. both look simular.. albeit not identical..

WHY would ICANN or Internic (the old monitor/registrar of at that point ALL websites) , have more than one commercial tld (.com,.bz,.cc,.biz,etc)

If you want to avoid someone else using that domain, then register it!!

Look at it like this, if you had the phone number (any area code) 888-3333 you couldn't sue someone for getting the number 1-888-333-3333 or whatever.. if you wanted that number then you should have registered it too!!

Either way.. I like both KS and fauna.. may not agree with either moderator 100% of the time.. but that is america...

My piece of peace is said.. and I don't plan on saying much more on this thread..

I don't have any specific reservations, it's just that with all this back and forth debate that seems to be saying the same thing, I know that it starts to be repetitive. I start to skim the messages and then pretty much ignore them. Sometimes I miss something important because I don't have the patience to wade through the same argument that happened a hundred times before (exaggeration). Perhaps you guys could sum up your positions so that it becomes easier to follow, because frankly, they AREN'T easy to follow. From what I've read, you, Jerry, think that it is pointless and even self-defeating for Brian to post his opinion, because he might not be taken on by kingsnake.com in the future, and Brian has voiced his opinions freely, not seeming to care if kingsnake.com puts him on a permanent ban list for consorting with the enemy. You are both eloquent individuals, which means that in general I very much enjoy reading any posts you make, regardless of whether or not I agree with your positions, but at this point in time it just seemed that there was a lot of running around in circles over the same ground.

SASHEENA , thanks for getting back

to me. I think age and experience may play a difference between Brians position and mine. These type of litigations that Rich may have to deal with can be very costly. Which ever machinery is tooled the best, will have the upper hand in a court of law. I dont know how far Jeff is willing to go with this, but if he wins , it could be devistating. Jeff has shown a compensity for suing, and I would hate like hell to see Brian Oakley being served or others who seem to feel its necessary to voice their opinion.........even if they feel its correct. My only argument is to maintain your silence. Leave Kingsnake alone . That is where your strength will lie. No one including myself knows what Jeff is willing to do. I was hoping that by going to arbitration the matter would have been settled, but apparently Jeff is persuing it.

I have no desire at this point of adding anything else . With this in mind let me just say that I am not defending Jeffs position on this litigation. What I am saying is that Kingsnake will continue to raise their prices for advertising until they reach a point where it will become financially uncomfortable to advertise. Maybe at that point the better dealers and breeders will come back once the low class advertisers no longer can afford to pay those prices. This kind of policy is based on attrition. It has worked in the past, and I am sure it will continue to work in the future. But we shall see. ENOUGH SAID.

I want to post on more reply and hopefully give a better understanding to my feelings regarding all this.
Some might be a reeat of what I have said and some may not. After this I will not respond to any threads on any site regarding this issue.

I have been keeping snakes for 15 years. Approx. 6 years ago, when Kingsnake was very young I was fortunate to find the site via word of mouth/friend.

I have always thought, and still do, that Jeff was a genious with the 'baby' he created and grew to be one of, if not the largest site in the herp industry. I give the same credit to Rich and this site. These sites are something not many of us could think of creating much less going through with it. I have had the chance to meet some wonderful people and further myself with knowledge and experiences with a true love of mine, reptiles.
Kingnsnake has so many things to offer. Such detailed information can be gathered and even gives me a chance to share my knowledge to those that might benefit from it. I have been able to share my thoughts, experiences, failures, and successes due to his site with others that share the same interest as me and many others.
I am not a large breeder and do not do this for a living, but I have owned and worked with many varieties of snakes not limited to Irian Juyas, Queensland and Jungle Carpet Pythons, Burms, Retics, Balls, MANY various corns, Albino and Anery Honduran Milks, Siniloans, Knoblochis, Cal Kings, Amazon Tree Boas, Chondros, Emeralds, Guyanans, Suris, Brazilian Rainbow Boas, Central American Boas, and my true favorites being the many wonderful Columbian projects that are available and those that are still to come.
For a couple years I held a Classified acct. to sell my snakes. It came to a point that I chose not to renew my account. I made this choice NOT because I was going against Kingsnake, but mearly because I do not produce enough every year to make a business choice to spend the money to market the animals I produce/d or resold after whatever period of time from acquiring them.
This is just what I had to do for myself.

My intentions in sharing my feelings, not once, were ever to get anyone to go against Kingsnake. I am not 'against' Kingsnake. Like I have stated many times, I thoroughly enjoy the site and I am glad I am one that has the opportunity to be part of the community.

I shared my opinions not to degrade Jeff or his business/site, but just to share the things that I felt have changed that have made the site difficult at times. Does this mean that I am right? Of course not. Do my opinions matter? To me they do and I am not sure of the rest of the people that read them.

I did not bring them up with the intent to call out failures, as I firmly believe they are far from that. We all learn things in life as we go along. I just wanted to share my thoughts, as someone who has been part of the site for nearly the whole time it has existed, in hopes that I could point out things that have changed and compare them to yesteryear.
I will still say that I do not like the 'censorship', as some have called it, but I do understand why Jeff does it. I understand that Jeff has things removed in order to protect himself.
If I may compare it to this site for a minute, Rich has a site that has many things said that people do not like (the person that posts are made about), but took avenues to protect himself where things do not need to be deleted. I think these same things could be done on Kingsnake so Jeff (or whoever) does not need to monitor them to the degree that he/they do.

Kingsnake.com and Fauna.com are the best things that this industry has going as far as the internet world and it's realtion to herps. The two sites are unique unto themselves and each serve as a valuable tool to those that use them. Many users, just like me, frequent both sites. It would be very detrimental to the herping world if they were not here (not to take away from the other great sites that have since been created as I use many of them as well).

I understand that business can be ugly at times. I guess I get so 'emotional' about it because I wish there were a way that none of this would have to take place. There are no real winners in a situation like this. I know their are egos and pride with both and rightfully so. We have to parties that have put in a lot of money, time, and evergy to make their respective sites what they are today.

Right or wrong, I guess it all boils down to my 'cry' for Kingsnake to return to what it was at times in the past.
I agree, Jeff does things for a reason and he, and only he, know what those reasons are. That is fine.

This community is so small as it is, I guess I just wish that the parties involved did not have to have the 'comflict' that we all have known to exist.

The points I have brought up in the past couple days were never intended to harm Jeff or his site. I was mearly speaking out as an individual who looks from the outside in.

As far as this site is concerned. I have shown my support to it as well. Although I do not speak to it in this thread, I have been an active member for 3 or 4 years. I know that since Rich made his changes, it only states that I have been a member since 2002, but we all remember when we had to re-register and the 'clock' started over at that time.

I think this very forum serves as a great tool. It allows people to make an educated decision in a market place where seing the person/s you are dealing with is nearly impossible. Kind of hard to just hop in the car to speak to someone if a problem ever arrose in any deal that one might make.

Although I get in some of the best when it comes to heated topics or conversations, I really am a very calm and collected individual that does not like, to any degree, and type of conflict. That is what I feel is so sad about this ordeal that both parties are going through.

I will always wish both parties the best and hope a resolution can be made that will not hurt either party when all the dust settles.

As far as the fees that are involved for post ads on the classified pages of Kingsnake, I still feel that if the fees were a bit lower Jeff might find that his site would thrive even more than it is today.

One had mentioned that ( and I am not quoting exactly) that I did not care if I got banned from Kingsnake or I was trying to or whatever. Of course this is not the case. That is just silly. I would be equally upset if I were to be banned from this site. I come to each site daily and would miss it greatly if that opportunity were ever revoked.

Anyway, what is the point of all this? I am not really sure. I just thought I would open up a bit and give an in depth look at my thoughts on it and where I was coming from.

well

well that was a very interesting thread and i agree w/'bout 99% of it but FTR jeffb.&kingsnake.com started all this litigation,he is the one driving a wedge in the herp community, why do you think he is doing that?money? i to enjoy kingsnake.com but as far as banning goes screw that ,, banning only doesnt allow you to post anything there, you can still browse,,now i enjoy posting there on forums sometimes but NEVER would i give ks a dime for advertising post. so really i could care less if im banned from ks.
true colors have been shown,i just wish i had the funds and knowhow to build a competing site i know richz does(well the knowhow anyway) and hopefully will, the sad fact is we(the herp community) are a very small number of people maybe 10,000 maybe less and i admire jeffb for creating ks but greed has now set in and thats one of the 7deadlies it consumes honesty, integrity it really is ashame he cant embrace the herp community instead of dividing it,,,,,,,thomas:(

So what is wrong with this picture???

Spent some time looking at the statistics on alexa.com and found some interesting graphs.

So tell me, my friends, how can Jeffie claim damages or losses when this graph plainly shows that his website traffic increased enormously right around the time the Rich got kingsnakes.com??? Something wrong here, I believe.

But there is something nagging me about this that I just can't put my elbow on to figure out. Doing some searching for other data to see if I can hammer out what is bothering me about this graph.

It's an interesting chart.... Looks strange to begin with, until you realize it's a chart of RANKINGS.... so naturally the peaks would be a high ranking (which means a low number), and the valleys would be a low ranking (which means a high number).

Heres a graphic that shows the difference between the rankings of kingsnake.com and faunaclassifieds.com. You can see how much of a threat Fauna is!

Can we see the daily records for kingsnakes.com? Must be pretty high if enough people are confusing it with kingsnake for Jeff to instigate a lawsuit.
(Looks like the average numbers for Kingsnake have been declining slightly... sort of interesting)

Yes, this is a graph of relative rankings, so the lower the number, the higher amount of traffic. So if you were ranked as numero uno, you would be the one with the highest amount of taffic on the net. I attached another image to display what is bugging me about this information displayed. It looks like ks got a huge jump in traffic around May of 2003, which was right around the time that this ks singular and ks plural situation popped up. So if ks plural impacted ks singular, one would think that ks singulars traffic would have dipped downwards rather than upwards, wouldn't one???

But this got other questions popping up in my mind. Wasn't this right around the time that ks singular was switching over the forums to new programming? Wasn't this right around the time that people were flocking away from ks singular because of the wholesale bannings and censorship? If this is true, how in hog heaven did ks singular get such a huge increase in traffic at that time to get the rating on alexa.com to skyrocket up towards the top of the chart??? Something is not kosher in this. But maybe I am just wrong about the timing and all. Been kind of distracted with personal problems lately (women - can't live with them, can't live without them), so I haven't spent the time digging into this to figure it out. But you know how that tingling sensation is when something is real wrong keeps itching at you??? So heres my question... What caused that huge increase in traffic at ks singular??? Did something happen over there to actually get that huge infux of traffic that shows up on the alexa.com charts??? Or was there some creative programming done that Jeffie was so hot an heavy to implement that is artificially creating this appearance of increased traffic??? Take a look at that 2 year graph I have attached. Traffic has been sinking gradually apparently. On ks singulars own site, Jeffie stopped keeping statistics after Feb, 2002. Then suddenly, around May, 2003 traffic spikes way upwards, but is still on a gradual decline.

Does this all make sense??? I just smell seafood.

re

as far as i'm concered JeffB deserves whatever he gets for allowing and condoning scam artists on his classifieds, many of which are responsible for ripping 1000's of dollars off of real diehard hobbyists, apparently hes not in it for the hobby but rather for his wallet and whomever pays him to advertise on his site... no morals whatsoever, i applaud you rich for what you did. Jeff

btw, personaly i could care less if kingsnake.com was hacked and erased from existencse, or whatever if something happened, at least a majority of the stigma would be gone, or rather the haven for them....

re

btw, i'm not saying that everyone who advertises on kingsnake.com is a crook, actualy there are some good folks on there, but there are quite a few crooks, deadbeats, scammers etc.. that are plainly still allowed to post at will because their in JeffB's pocket. its rather sickening.

Well I was going to post the statistics for the kingsnakes.com site (the plural one) and lo and behold, at this point in time it's ranking is like 593,847th place. The graph simply states (not in top 100,000) and doesn't even bother to show a picture of the peaks and valleys.

I too wondered about that sudden peak which seemed to be quite unrealistically abrupt... what could have done this? Could this be the time that KS went from the one forum style to the other? Could that have done something to the statistics? Hard to say. NOt going to speculate beyond this. But it is mighty interesting. I don't think, just by viewing these statistics, that there is any sign of injury that Fauna, or kingsnakes.com have done to KS.com. But then that's just me.

I am not up on how ranking happen so I am asking a few stupid questions so bear with me its a learning experiance. Gee imagine that the BOI teaching and not being a joke. Rich Enough said about your worries, lol I know wrong thread but crossed my mind.

Ok so is a website based on number of hits it gets when a veiwer goes to it no matter where they go on it or how many times in a single session?

Or is it based on the number of hits it recieves per visitor such as if i were go to the BOI , Then Law , Then Classified would that be 3 hits instead of 1 hit in one veiwing without leaving?

If it gets 1 hit each time a person goes to a diffrent forum area it would not suprise me that KS would have a higher ranking as it has so damn blasted many forums broke up so nutty you have to go to forum A to find out whats on Forums B. Also the way its set up you need to click on each seperate responce to veiw them so would not that increase hits?

Ok teach me im trying to understand this.

Scott Bice

I would not be surprised to find that the business of KS is seasonal. If you look at that chart it appears that the abrupt increase in traffic coincides with the reproductive cycle. I think it would be natural for business to die-off somewhat as the year progresses into winter and then pick up again in early summer. This could be proven if we could see a little bit more of the past. I also think that the increase could be do in part to people spending more time looking at forums back when all the controversy was causing so many to get banned. I know that my curiousity has caused me to spend some time there to read some of the arguments that were being made until those people were in turn also banned. It wasn't until recently that I swore off of doing business with advertisers on KS so back then I was still looking at classifieds on a regular basis too.
