In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Jen Harrison- Beware

Your right. Just like when you deposit money in your bank, that money isn't physically their. But when it's time to collect, do you hear the bank making excuses why it's not their and they'll send it to you when they can?

And you as well. Jen has handled this. She was legitimately going through a terrible time in life, which several people verified. And now she has refunded the original poster. Why is that not good enough for you? Why do you insist on trying to drag her through the mud still? She resolved the issue, so give it a rest.

No, she never should have spent the shipping money. That was a mistake she made. She corrected that mistake when she issued a full refund to the buyer. She's not perfect, and neither is anybody else here. What defines us is how we handle our mistakes; not whether or not we ever make any.

Sorry to hear, my belief is if she was in such desperate times, she should have put the cat down instead of expensive surgery. And should have been up front with the buyer explaining her situation from the beginning. she could have called the buyer and informed them that the snake was not shipped instead of making the buyer wait to see if the box came or not.

I understand people are going through difficult times "most are", simple conversations and follow up is all that was needed.

Maybe I'm not the same as others, but the idea that she should have put the cat down is sad. She had a chance to save it and took it. I think that's what most people would do.

I agree with others that she shouldn't have spent the shipping money. But she made a mistake and fixed it. Jenn has a good standing in the community for a reason. I'm sure she wishes things would have gone differently. There are many things that she could have done and I think a few people here would have helped her out. But I think she'll learn from this and it won't happen again. Emergencies happen and she did what she had to do for her family (including her cat).

Jen said she had "no choice" but to use the shipping money. FALSE. There is ALWAYS a choice to do the honorable thing. How you treat a stranger is often more telling than how you treat people you know.

If you cannot afford to ship or don't have supplies, try to sell your animals/liquidate items locally. Its super easy these days with all the hundreds of Facebook Groups out there, trust me. I have been in similar, money tight situations (in fact, right now I am unemployed, broke-as-a-joke college student with books to pay for, yet you don't see me trying any cloak-and-dagger stall tactics to get out of my hole), but that is NO excuse to take advantage of other peoples' patience and kindness (and most of all, money).

If you live on the edge of financial ruin on a daily basis, and your life is so touch-and-go, then dealing in live animals should be your last priority. Get your life to stabilize, then rejoin the community. Borrowing funds by force and with-holding customers' hard earned money is a quick one-way ticket to ScammerVille.

Yes, she paid Beth back......but without this forum to shame her on in front of her friends and colleagues, how are we to know the same thing would've happened? She could've disappeared with the money and her customer would've been SOL. I am not impressed by people who do the right thing with an audience, its those who do the right thing when nobody is watching that tells you what their character is really like.

All of that.

This statement is very true.
Keeping a collection of reptiles is an EXPENSIVE hobby, especially if you have any quantity of them.
I understand that life happens and situations change, and I do have some sympathy for Jen, But if money is really tight it makes sense to sell off the animals you have and save some extra money on food, electricity, bedding, etc... while allowing your financial situation to improve.
I know it is hard to let your reptiles go, but sometimes it just has to be done :(.

Bottom line is: Borrowing money that was intended for shipping was a poor decision. I am glad she kept in contact with the customer, and eventually paid the customer back, but it does do some damage to her reputation.
I hope Jen is able to get things together (financially) and continue with the hobby. She is very nice and she is honest, so she should have no trouble rebuilding her reputation.

This thread is getting cloudy with stuff after the point. If someone searches for Jen and finds this thread, they're going to have to skim through a bunch of your guys' back and forth that really has nothing to do with the topic. Let those searching for Jen make their own decisions on what to think/feel.

Beth & Jen are done with this thread, shouldn't you be too?

Get over your personal vendetta against Jen and give it a rest. Continuing to go after her like this is only making you look bad. This thread isn't a place for your personal catharsis against somebody you clearly have unrelated and unresolved issues with.

Jen has refunded the original poster fully. It's been resolved. End of story.

I am completely on the side of the OPs decision to have posted this BAD Guy thread and the fact that it was deserved. But I agree that this thread should be finished by now. Continuing posting at this point for either side will only have people getting upset that the thread is still being continued. This is my last post here and I wouldnt even be posting it if this thread wasnt still active. As of right now posting on this thread is pointless unless you have more information to bring to light about the buyer or seller.

Agreed. Not only has the dead horse been repeatedly beat, the dead horse has decomposed and is now being enjoyed by an array of necrophilous insects.

RIP horse and thread.

To the left, how do we know she wouldn't? ASSuming the worst is all well and good, but it is not always correct. Case in point here.

You may want to re-take that ethics class. Or, if you're too poor to afford school, go out and get your priorities straight. Get a job, save some money, live the American dream, you know, like Jen is trying to do.

Sam, check the title. It's not a bad guy thread, it's a beware thread. BIG difference. That one word means a lot, bad vs. beware.

I guess all of Jen's supporters will continue to say what a good person Jen is, and maybe she is? The fact remains, she used someone's payment as a personal loan. So Jen may be a good person, great mom, etc., but would I trust her with a dime of my money, absolutely not.

Great, your mind is made up, as is everyone else's, with their own personal opinions on both sides. Arguing any further about it is just as useless as the Mac vs PC debate.

Check what the tab on this thread is called. BAD GUY Jen Harrison BEWARE. The words BAD GUY, as well as BEWARE are deserved. Did you read my post wrong?

Just when you think Fauna has rid itself of everyone's favorite snarky senile codger, Wes pops back up. Do you ever have anything to say that makes a lick of sense, Polly? You may want to up your dosage on your meds before you keep sticking that foot in your mouth. I have a job, one that pays my school tuition. I'm a full-time student, who works third shift, and takes care of my disabled wife & our 3 year old daughter in my off time between those 2 jobs....I'm working towards a master's in Evolutionary Biology, and will become an actual scientist.

So again, tell us more about what you know in regards to my academic pursuits and life endeavors, Wes. I'm all ears.

mr. beard, you chose to be where you are, you do not deserve to complain about it. Jen deserves to be where she is. Jen may recover, but you'll always be an unpleasant person, mr. beard.
