I hope people realize that it doesn't just end with me. Wyatt sold many other snakes at the same time I bought my het clown from him, all of which have very good chances of potentially carrying this virus -- and he is STILL selling snakes, via his girlfriend. What bothered me most, is that even when I came forward about what was happening, he continued to sell snakes -- and seemed very apparently "dumping" his collection and equipment at dirt cheap prices to get what he could before this all came out. Hence 2 more people suffered illnesses and losses (and who knows who else may have also had losses that just didn't come forward or weren't aware of the BOI -- like Jason wasn't until I showed him). I have e-mailed both Mike and Jason to let them know where Dr. Jacobson is at regarding his research, as they very well may need to shut down their collections as well if this turns out to be something related to IBD. It isn't IBD directly, as in all the necropsies I had done, all liver tissues repeatedly tested negative for inclusion bodies -- but at least this is a potential lead as to what the hell it is.
So I am picking out 3 individuals to have lung, spleen, and liver tissues removed from for analysis -- the rest are going to be frozen, as that seems to be by all accounts my only real option for the least cruel form of death. Ugh.
If anyone wants to donate toward the costs of my past vet bills that I still owe, or the new ones that these new samples are going to rack up, you can either PayPal me at:

or mail it to:

On the check/money order, please write
"ATTN: Ball Python Virus Research -- Jennifer Harrison". They had already recieved a couple donations way back in the beginning, so they know what to do with it. If possible, please include your name and e-mail address as they save copies and I would like to be able to thank you. My last lovely little pink past-due note from them had a balance of $779. That was for 2 sets of euthanasias, necropsies and histopathies (tissue sample prep) -- and after my own payment of $200 at the time. So you can guesstimate what 3 new sets are going to add up to. As for Dr. Jacobson's bill, I have no idea what I owe yet -- I haven't recieved anything in the mail, but he may be billing it to Dr. Gordon and then I pay through them. Not sure. The estimate Dr. Gordon gave me when he sent everything down there was $250 per test that was run x 6 different tissue samples x 2 snakes = $3,000. I really hope it isn't that much. As soon as I find out what it is, I will post it.
I also e-mailed Dr. Jacobson back and asked where I should have people send donations to to help continue funding his research into this virus. Hopefully he'll respond today and I will post it when he does. I'm thinking of petitioning the big breeders to ask them to contribute donations to the lab.
One thing I noticed above is that some people took my $15,000 figure and thought it was all vet bills -- which isn't the case. My vet bills at the local clinics have been over $1,500 thus far, plus the estimate for the testing in Florida as mentioned above ($3,000). The rest of that figure is what I have lost in animals thus far (morphs and hets only, not counting normals). That figure is soon to go way up after I euthanize what I have left and discard all of my equipment. I never in my life thought I would end up in this position. I knew I took a risk buying animals that can fail to produce, possibly die, and lose market value, but I never EVER thought they would all be wiped out within a matter of months, leaving me with nothing. Plus now my jerk of an ex-husband is demanding I repay him the $2500 he gave me to buy the adult female het g-stripe that I lost -- even though back when I bought her, he said she was a gift to "get my business going". I love how people take things back when it's convenient for them.
Also, for everyone who has offered to donate animals to me -- I greatly appreciate it, and deeply thank you, but I am done with snakes. I am so burned out and hurt by this entire ordeal, that I no longer have any desire to work with them any more. I can barely stand to be in my snake room right now as it is. Not to mention that my priority is finishing my classes and making sure I can make ends meet now that I'm pretty much a single mom with a whole bunch of debt. I won't have the time, energy, or money it takes to maintain a collection -- nor buy all new equipment to house them. So if you have animals you wanted to donate to me (like the two Dan and Colette have set aside for me -- if you guys are reading this), I ask that you sell them and use the proceeds to fund the research into this virus. I really want to get some answers on what happened to my animals, as I'm sure everyone in this hobby does, and there is only one way to do it.
As for proof of my collection being destroyed -- well, I guess I will take a pic of the dead bodies and link to it for those that want to see it. I am not going to take pics of every single individual nor with ID's -- I have somewhere around 70 snakes right now, when you combine my baby kingsnakes and baby ball pythons in with the few adults I had left after all was said and done. That would be way too time consuming and traumatic to have to catalog them all when I put them down. I'm sorry if that's not good enough for some of you, but I am not going to make this harder than it already is. When the racks get taken away by one of the two people that volunteered to haul them, I will have them post here or post copies of the e-mails they send me. That's about all I can do.
