In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

first off, i was contacted by another member of fauna asking me if i had an ad posted on reptibid. that the pictures looked familiar. Upon looking at the link i soon realized this person known as Tinman2183 was selling one of MY geckos off MY website and atually quoting MY ads here on fauna verbatum and using MY picture.

i do not know how to do a screen capture but here is the link:

http://www.reptibid.com/cgi-bin/auc...SPCLOSED=a_lizard_leopardgeckos1103124032.dat

so to make sure no one got scammed... i made a login at reptibid (i never had one i do not go to that site) and bought my own animal, basically, by using the "buy now" option.

i soon recieved this automated email from reptibid:

Dear Geckocollector,

Congratulations!

You are the winner of:
Auction number: 1103124032
Item title: Pastel/Hypo Female Het Albino
The Buy It price was: $75.00

Please contact the seller to make arrangements for payment and shipping:
E-mail Address: mailto:[email protected]

The buyer and seller should contact each other within three business days to
complete the sale. Not getting in touch leaves the contract in limbo and can
earn you negative feedback.

Notice to Bidders: Please send payment to the seller. Reptile Auction does not
handle the transactions between the buyer and the seller.

We hope you have enjoyed using the Reptile Auction and will come back often!

so i emailed this "tinman2183 or [email protected]"

this is what it said:

I was only taking Pay-Pal for this girl but i might not of made that clear. So if you can send me the money order ASAP ill hold her for you. I will accept a postal or bank money order and i will hold for a day or 2 just to make sure it goes throw. I have had a fraud money order so that is the reason ill have to wait for my bank to clear it. OK
Thank you Jeramy

i did not figure his name was "jeramy Hello"
so i replied:

Jeramy,
this is robin from r2reptiles. now that i have your attention and info and you used my photo of MY animal in a reptibid ad , in fact you prety much quoted me verbatum.
1) you have been reported to reptibid as being a fraud and posting fraufulent ads.
2) you have violated copyright laws by using my photos.
3) i will be contacting the Plano Police Department, the better business bearu and FBI internet fraud center.
4) will proceed with legal action to make sure you scam no one else.
5) i will be posting this and your information on the BOI @ www.faunaclassifieds.com
have a great day -robin struck www.r2reptiles.com

Hello This is Jeramy and there seems to be a problem me and a friend were using the same name because he does not have a computer and i did not know this was going on i was just leting him use my name to sell a gekco that he has or said or that he said he had. He did not realy know how big of a deal this was but he does know. is there any way we can mabe work this out so i am not the one in the most trouble. what ever it is he needs to pay ill pay it to take care of this matter.

my reply:

i am sorry i find that hard to believe. since you gave me your name for the postal money order. not your friends name
-robin struck r2reptiles.com

What a moron . . .

. . . unbelievable. The only remotely good thing was that he was actually trying to broker the animal - or would that be called a "surprise brokering"? LOL

Good Job Robin.

I think this young man needs a valuable lesson. Hopefully, this will teach him that crime does not pay . . .

Right on, Robin!

Good sleuthing! Please follow through with reporting this character... there's just too much of this stuff happening to let it pass. Hopefully, anyone who reads this thread will have second thoughts about pulling something like this!

Hey robin if it helps any even after the fact. To capture the screen,
Hit the button “Print Scrn SysRq” its right next to the F12 button

Then go to either Paint Shop, Photoshop or Word Pad. Right click and Paste

I recommend Photoshop or Paint Shop though. You may not be able to get the ad/page screen in one shot, but with these 2 programs you can piece them together.

I really hoped it helped in some way.

OOOPS!!! I love how crooks back peddle. It is very amusing. What isn't amusing is the act of being a complete moron and trying to rip anyone off.

This site continues to be one of the best tools out there for all of the "good" folks. Goood job at catching the little thief!!!

Happy Holidays!!

Bthacker

Good thing that you caught him and he didnt actually scam someone! Hopefully the cops will pay him a little VISIT and tell his parents what hes doing! Good luck and nice seeing that! ERIk

Ah yes, the "someone else was using my computer" ploy. It's been a while since I've seen that one. Is there a scammers handbook or something, that these people are using?

You can save the the Reptibid Ad on yor computer if you want.

1. Create a new empty folder.
2. Open the Reptibid ad by clicking on the link in your thread.
3. Then pull down EDIT and do a Select All
4. Now pull down File and do a Save As
5. Navigate to the new folder you created and click the 'Save' button

You have now saved the entire ad in the folder you created. Now go to the new folder and double click on the HTML document titled 'Reptile Auction with Pet blah blah.....' and it's a copy of the ad.

I hope this helps.
