In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Jim Middlestat - Avoiding my calls?

I agree

I have to agree with Junkyard on this. I know if it had been me I would have been knocking on his door way before this much time elapsed. I understand why you didn't and was only trying to give the man the benefit of the doubt to do the right thing. I commend you for your patience, and most of all, your calmness through all of this.

Art, I think I would try some certified letters to his home and work asking for a monetary amount to cover replacement of the boa and see what happens. If he really is a doctor, doesn't seem like he couldn't afford a replacement.....

I've got a question for you Jim. When did my boa die? The last time I spoke to you on the phone was the end of September or early October. I told you that it was time for me to get my boa back and you just paused on the phone, saying nothing. I assumed that you were trying to figure out how to ask me if you could keep him through the breeding season. I then asked you if you wanted to keep him for a while for breeding and you said, "yes". Was my boa already dead Jim? While you were pausing on the phone were you trying to figure out what to tell me because you screwed up and froze my boa?

Art,

I read this entire thread and when I got to this paragraph it all seemed to make sense. Are you sure your boa died? Do you think if times were that hard he might have sold it? If you talked to him end Sept beginning of Oct. and it died from freezing it would have had to been the winter before, wouldnt it? I think Jim killed or sold your boa a long time ago!! But that my 2 cents!!

Art,
I do not know the value here, and if it was mentioned in an earlier post, my apologies. If you did not have a prior written agreement, or receipt, you do now have the email from him, which has weight in a legal proceeding. Since you have to travel to his state, that and about $100 will get you an attorney to write that one or two certified letters, asking not only for the value of the snake, but other expenses as well, to include that $100, and more should you have to file a full-blown civil suit. It does take it to the next level, but it may not be worth it to you. Jim in Arkansas seems to be in a bit of a funk, and I hope that he sees his way out of it sooner rather than later.

Jon and Jim F.,

Thanks to both of you for your help and suggestions. Without the help and support from you and others I would still be wondering about the condition of my boa.

You know, it's not about the money or getting a replacement. It's about Jim Middelstaedt stepping up to do the right thing. His refusal to do so speaks volumes about his character, or lack thereof. To escalate this any further will cause more turmoil in my life than it is worth. I've exposed Jims' true colors and hopefully that will prevent someone else from making the same mistake that I made. How much is that worth? The BOI works in many different directions.

At this point I expect nothing from Jim. If he eventually makes good on this then it will be a pleasant surprise. I'm not holding my breath.

Of course I will keep everyone posted as to any additional events. I've decided to let go and travel a higher road. Thanks again, Art

Art, prior to this thread, I didn't recall seeing you here. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, and am a bit stupid too, so I often miss the obvious. But you are a breath of fresh air here, and a class act. Good luck in all.

Bill,
I may never learn what actually happened to my boa. I don't think Jim M. sold it or had it die in his possession before this winter. I think he was negligent in his care and many snakes died, including mine. Because of his personal shortcomings he was unable to call me and let me know. My phone calls and emails only down spiraled the situation to a point of no return for him. I honestly feel bad for him in a way. I don't know how he sleeps at night or looks at himself in the mirror. I didn't get a replacement for my boa, but he didn't get away with it either.

Thanks for your support, Art

Thanks Jim,
I joined up right before Christmas. I'm a newbe here. I'm also very glad to be part of this site. Art

New email to Jim M.

I sent Jim M. this email a little while ago in an attempt to finalize this matter. I have not tried to contact him at all since my last posting on this thread. Cross your fingers. Art

Jim,
A gentleman contacted me about a male boa that he is willing to sell to me for $100.00 plus shipping. It is my hope that we could square up with this purchase.

Kindly let me know what you think so I can let this fellow know either way. If you have any other options or ideas I would be happy to entertain them. Please let me know.

Regards, Art
