In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

No I mean the bells, whats wrong with his bell lines???

I apologize for perhaps skipping a few pages of this thread, and this topic may be covered, however I saw those dead geckos and was compelled to express that not a one of those geckos died from lack of a cool pack. Those geckos died from a disease.

I have kept hundreds of geckos and examined them to the bone dozens if not hundreds of times with a microscope and that organ failure you view with their dark abdomens is clotted blood from organ failure as a result from bacteria and parasites which did not initiate in the shipping container due to temperature. Yes, the heat overwhelmed them caused their death, however their overall thin appearance is not lack of food, its lack of appropriate medical attention.

I could explain more, however the parasite that eventually gets these geckos does not seem to overwhelm the gecko until it reaches this stage in growth. Even little guys get it and grow slow but eventually they all die.

I believe those geckos suffered from an illness that is not curable.

However such, it is nice to know that the buyer will get a refund, however the seller needs to either fess up to the fact that he is aware of problems in his collection or else he is gonna pass crap off to kill other people's collections.

In my personal opinion, the seller knew they were sick and he knew that shipping them in the heat would kill them. And that is why he did not include a cool pack.

Jim is right the only thing he did wrong was asked for this poll.
BIG Red Flag in that decision alone IMHO.

You got to love the customer service he has because with that decision I know how he would treat someone that did not know about the BOI.

I agree, if it is in your T.O.S. that you will not be held responsible for carrier related problems you have the ability to do nothing. If you do this to a customer who has done nothing wrong it is at your own risk. Most have that line in their TOS for added protection more in the lines to protect against abuses. It should never be a blanket policy. It is good to add “replacement only” but also should not be used in every case.

Regardless, I am glad Matt is receiving his money back.

Sidetrack
Dan In your eyes everything has a disease. They died in a HOT truck.

Dan, could you be more dramatic? Please, you don't think that death and excessive heat result in blood clotting and organ failure, hmm death=organs fail, blood stops flowing and clots. Heat draws all moisture out of the bodies causing them to look emaciated......

To come here and post your OPINION as FACT and allude to a breeder having crypto or some other mysterious disease is irresponsible at best and borderline libelous at worse.

I would ask, where did you get these hundreds of specimens that you examined under your microscope that were inflicted with this incurable disease? if they came from your own collection than perhaps you have more important things to worry about........

The only thing diseased here is Scolaro's brain. I'll wager the cost of the necropsy those were healthy geckos that died from heat and not parasites. Take me up Sidetrack Dan?

Well I do still have them, frozen of course... They smelled like they had been dead for days..YUCK!!

I would say that it is pretty obvious by now that Jody made a mistake in shipping the leos without a cool pack. He has admitted this mistake and has agreed to make good on them. Sadly they had to perish. But, I could not sit here and continue to hammer Jody about this with a good conscience. He has agreed to do the right thing. He took a big chance on insisting that this be posted on the BOI, knowing full well he would be chastised for it. But, he has admitted what he did and has not come on here swearing and getting defensive for his actions. This was an unfortunate mistake to make, but a MISTAKE nonetheless. Both parties are working this out to peacefully to resolve the issue, so why add fuel to a dying fire? This is only my opinion and I am sure I will get negative attention due to it, but I cannot help how I feel on the matter. Thanks.

OK Dan, he has them. Put your money where your mouth is?

Can't stess the importance of proper shipping..

As breeders and dealers we have a moral (and legal) obligation to protect the animals we deal with from whatever, I live in the Dallas Fort Worth Area of Texas where it is regualry 95-100+ for months... in 10 years of shipping I have never had a DOA from a captive bred animal and can't even recall a DOA on wildcaughts. I ship 1-10 packages per week day, whats my method you ask...simple...NO CUTTING CORNERS..PERIOD. If you are too lazy ,cheap or stupid to spend extra time to use a gel pack and a insulated box you need to find another job or hobby period. Risking the life of animals to save time and $$ is disgusting at best...GEL packs work, period, I know from experience.
I pack my animals for 48-72 hours minimum trip, I export overseas mostly so this is a MUST. Always go the extra mile, if I don't have styros I go to home depot and buy a 8ft sheet of the aluminum sided insulation and cut it to fit, when the temps are really smokin I will in some cases make an extra compartment to put the gel pack in so it doesn't thaw quickly, combined with the appropriate sized pack and wrapped in several layers of newspaper taped, the darm things last 24-36 hours on most occasions, also making sure your box has proper hole placement is critical, too many holes and the cool air leaks making the gel packs worthless. Also filling all available space with newspaper helps tons as well. This may sound like a lot of work to some, well all I can say is if it sounds like a bother then you do not have the welfare of the animals at heart, just your pocket book. If I got lazy and killed an animal I would feel terrible and probaby be in a down mood for a while over it. To me just because the animal is not a human does not make it disposible, there just like us,only have one shot at it, when it's over, it's over...Several geckos died to complacentcy and laziness..period.
Always ask the question..would you feel safe being shipped with the methods you use, if you get a resounding HELL NO from yourself then it is obvious you need to re-think your methods.

I wish he would take Jim_O up on that... It would be interesting seeing himself either being proved wrong or proving the others wrong(doubtful). But it would be hilarious.. How much does that type of thing go for? :>off_to<:

Here we go again folks...another hit and run diagnosis from Danny the psychic veterinarian. And we get a conspiracy thrown in free of charge.

Tell me Dan... do any animals on the planet expire naturally or are they all from hideously contagious diseases?

I hope the weather is pleasant in whatever alternate reality you reside in. There has to be some benefit to living in Bizarro Land.

The only thing that would improve his theory is if Jodi had shot the animals prior to shipping...Yah...that's it...Jodi is a CIA Gecko assassin. Those shifty geckos were up to no good.

What a toon!

That all depends. We have a good relationship with our vet so a basic necropsy is free but if you want it sent off for a more in depth tissue analysis it can be a couple hundred dollars. :>off_to<:
