In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey, I was the guy holding the water monitors as you HAND PICKED them from Joe's tables. You told me you didn't want one because it had a bubble on its nose, I said that's probably a good choice, and we explained that sometimes, being imports, they come in with mild RI and might need to be treated once you got them home. All you seemed to care about at the show was haggling on the price and getting a better deal on 3 of them. This is simply a case of buyer's remorse here.

O so now there was a bubble and you acknowledge it was a good choice and I would need to treat them. Thought none were sick? YES I go to reptile show to get a better price duh. Still has nothing to do with you selling sick animals does it. fyi NO remorse here I never even tried to get a refund so keep trying to keep the attention on price.

Bruce why are you getting so upset. You lie about me and trash me but when I lay the facts out you get supper deffensive and come after me. Hmmm. sounds like someone doesnt like when they get there toes stepped on. lol. I have better things to do then go back and fourth with you Bruce. The points are made and people can judge themselfs when they come to the shows.

Have a nice day Bruce no hard feeling buddy.

You're right, you never tried to make the situation right in any way. You bought 3 fresh imported animals knowing exactly what you were getting, and then came on here a week later to complain. It's obvious from your attitude that you are just here to stir up trouble. Thanks for your time

Just saw the pricelist he has posted its from are website that we havent been on in about 4months maybe better. The water monitors on there were a different locality then the ones Bruce bought. The ones Bruce bought were varanus bivittatus. Not Javas or sumatrans. We had these V.B monitors listed for 150.00ea on Fauna. And he was aware of the locality before he even came to the show and price. Bruce if you saw any bubbling at the show then why buy them. Yes you mentioned it to me and I explained what action to take if that was the case. I personaly didnt see any bubbling like I said I did see the one with one eye closed we removed it and put it on a heat pack in a container just incase the rest remained in the unit and did fine and all looked fine. We brang them back rehydrated as we do with all are animals and treated them for parasites, and gave them electolites this is what we do for all are animals after a show just because it can be stressful on the animals.

Bruce you claim you bought them out feeling bad for them correct?

I'm an animal lover to buddy or I wouldnt have any animals. I'm not sure why if these guys were truly sick why you would risk buying them. Maybe what your saying about feeling bad for them is true I dont know I cant speak for you. But I can speak for myself. If I thought these animals were truly sick I wouldn't of sold them and I even said you don't have to buy them if you feel there sick. I personaly didnt see any bubbles or major signs of illness. There was 6 in the unit I know that for a fact. I only brang 6 becaus eit was all I had left at that time. They were all brought on heat packs and set up under a heat light at the show. I did everything I could to ensure that they would stay warm and not chill. I appologize if you feel like you got a bad deal and like I said I'd be more then happy to take them back and reimburse you.

Your welcome to come to the next Hamburg show and talk I'm usually always in the same spot and I gave you my phone number in the email so your welcome to call me as well.

PhD and you can't count either.there were more then six Joe.

I feel that Bruce is truly doing what he can for these ill critters. It can be very difficult to watch animals suffer when you know you can provide the necessary care to bring them back to health. It is a double-edged sword, at times. Once the animals recover, it is wonderful to know that you have saved them.

Bruce is NOT complaining about the PURCHASE PRICE about this transaction, nor is he complaining that he was duped into buying. He was being a good guy by helping these critters recover from what could have resulted in death if he had not intervened. He is simply letting others know that JOE HADDEN is selling sick reptiles at the shows he attends to unsuspecting prospective owners. No one should ever have to expect that the animals they are buying may be newly imported or sick and need to be treated. Not all buyers know the signs of illness in reptiles.

Too bad there are so many people who think about themselves making money, rather than giving the proper care to their animals. Whether newly imported or not, animals should never be offered for sale or sold at shows if they require medical care. How can one figure that if they purchase an animal from a show or store that they will have to do an intervention to save the life of the animal they just purchased? Most folks buying want and expect what they buy to be in proper health.

I, for one, thank BRUCE for making others aware of Joe Hadden's business practices of selling reptiles that require medical attention in order to survive. In addition, Joe's attitude to this thread and to the OP is one that is not desirable.

When you own a business no matter what it maybe there will be happy customers and not so happy customers. Just doesn't matter what you do its the nature of the beast. Everyone has there own opinions and feelings towards something. There are other business on here that have gotten there name trashed and personally I never had bad dealings with them or have known anyone who delt with them who did but someone didn't like the way something went and they speak out. Hey I've been out right ripped off and know how it feels it down right sucks especially as a n importer we loss 10 of thousands of dollars just to try and find decent suppliers and I've been ripped off by local people as well. Or felt like I got the bad end of a deal. But if I thought something was sick and debated buying it and new it was a risk I wouldn't later go and bash that person. It was a decision I made not the seller. As a seller its very important to me to makesure I do the right thing. Sometimes it just seems like it doesn't matter how much I do to accomplish that theres still gonna be that one person who has to be heard. Well it is what it is. But to the thousands of people I've sold to over the past 15years that were happy with what they got that means more.

Bruce I'm sorry you feel the way you do and I appologize that I joked about it. I was so upset I just had to change the mood. I take my business serious. Its more of hobby with me but its a serious hobby. My kids enjoy it to and have a big part in it and I want them to have a good experience with the reptiles and any other animals as are ultimate goal is to start a zoo someday as family.

Thank you

I understand it's hard to find both good suppliers and good customers. And it's hard to run a small business. However there's no excuse for selling sick or underweight or dehyrated animals. I was at both Ohio shows in May and Joe obviously had some fresh South American imports. The aquatic turtles were kept in a box with no water. They were underweight and likely dehydrated. I can't say they were sick but underweight and dehydrated animals aren't something I'd sell. Why they weren't at least kept in a tub of water I don't understand.

It nice to say how much you like animals and all that but you also need to take a cue from some of the other dealers in terms of how they treat their animals. Being an animal lover and being able to care for your animals are two different things.

Hi, i do part time work helping joe care for his animals. I can assure you we take the best care possible in giving the animals suitable habitats at his facility. I am sure you are aware that there is a difference between setting an animal up for display at a show and setting an animal up to keep it properly. We actually spent a lot of time building an awesome outdoor turtle enclosure to keep them all in over this past summer that includes a pond full of fish, a large run full of grass, trees, and bushes for them to enjoy.

Okay, so he knew they were fresh imports that might have mild RIs, but he bought three and was upset that the sellers wouldn't come down more on the price.

I feel as though the original post was rather dishonest at this point. He makes it sound like these were captive bred monitors that were just being kept in horrible conditions. While I don't personally approve of selling freshly imported animals, it is a FAR different situation than the neglect he implied was going on.

Does nobody have receipts or veterinary confirmation of illness, or ANYTHING?
