In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi my name is Blake Tyler and I've had some bad experience with Joe Ramirez of Edinburg, Texas.

I purchased 1.1 Bolivian B. c. amarali from him on Oct. 15th, 2012. On the 16th I sent him a text saying that the female looked impacted and was wanting a refund or exchange. He never responded. Unfortunately I do not have that text anymore as I accidentally deleted it when I was deleting sent messages, because I ran out of memory on my phone. I do have others though and I made a youtube video telling the story. As far as I am concerned the deal is over. I don't expect to get my $300.00 back and I don't want anymore animals from him. I just want people to be aware of this incident. Perhaps it will help teach some people the importance of documenting everything and quarantining new arrivals.

I just got a text message from Joe saying "Hey you forgot to mention. They are renfro Bolivians and that they are stolen as well. Plus you had the boas for several weeks. Nice u tube video. A isolated incident that happened in your care." Sorry for the bad grammar, but that's an exact quote. So I guess he's admitting to stealing Gus' snakes?

If you want I can post a video of that text as well.

PS
Sorry if I didn't follow any rules for posting. I'm new.

Post pics of the text messages you do have. If the snakes are in fact stolen do you plan on surrending them to the rightful owner?

dude work on the impaction....get the snake healthy. Your money is pretty much gone. As far as the snakes being stolen. I hope you got the reciept of evidence you bought them from that dude. As far as surrendering them to the rightful owner. Surrender the evidence who you bought it from when and such and such. Good luck on that.

I watched the video, and I'm sorry for your loss, but why would you just give up on getting your $300 back? You tout the importance of documenting everything, which is great, but you're not going to use it to recoup your damages? He clearly sold you very sick snakes, which were (by his own admission) apparently stolen. I don't know why he would confess that unless he's counting on you not telling the police. Nevertheless, he gave you all the evidence you need for a small claims court suit. Use your video and the text messages. Unless there's something missing from this story, it should be an open and shut case.

To the two people who responded before me: You should watch the video. Both snakes are dead.

Damn Blake! I can feel and hear your concern in your voice. Next time, because this is a common occurence in this hobby; protect your investment and run them straight to a Vet next time. Hindsight is 20/20, I know, I've been there...

Get em to a Pro; and then post here. All you can do! And FEI (for everybody's info) buying snakes is worse than buying a used car. What does that really mean? YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR EVERYTIME! Everytime...

There is a lot missing from this story. Blake you need to post screen shots of all messages. What temps did you keep these snakes at. How quick and what did you actually feed them. Joe went over his text with me this morning. I need to hear from you before I voice my opion fully on this subject. Right know it sounds like you fed it something to big. The snakes are not stolen. The breeders were purchased years ago from one of Gus's friends. Gus's friend only gave Gus half the money. The babies were born in Joe's care. I do own three from this same litter. Mine are doing fine.

Watch the youtube video jrstang473. The male fed on 1 pink on the night of the 15th, then on two pinks on the 22nd and then another on the 28th. Definitely not big meals. Male was kept with 90F basking spot and an ambient temperature of 80F. Female was kept a few degrees warmer and misted daily. I'm glad your animals are doing good.

By the way everyone, I'm NOT saying the animals are stolen. That's is just what Joe said in his text message and I said "So I guess he's admitting to stealing Gus' snakes?". Here's a video of the text.

Thanks for your responses everyone. I consider the $300 the price for a expensive lesson. Lesson learned and shared with everyone. I don't plan on taking action simply because I don't have the energy and because he did say (after their death mind you) that the guarantee if offered was void when I paid him less than the full price. He was suppose to be giving me a good deal because we have a mutual friend. I'm sure Joe will lose more than $300 in sales because of this.

I just wanted to let everyone know what kind of service you can expect from Joe. He still continues to harass me with text messages saying how the animals were in my care when this happened.

PS, here are pictures of the female on the 16th of October (day after I got I her), and one of her soaking.

WOW...... The last clip on the video mad my stomach churn. So sorry for your loss and have to watch that let alone video tape that because Joe is an irresponsible reptile keeper. The necrospy you mentioned it absolutley necessary ASAP as if its a parasite etc it could spread very quick.

I don't know about the situation with buying selling, but if the snake is eating, give it a small food item with some nutribac on it. That looks like it might be gas built up instead of a true impaction. Does the snake float in the water?

Ok Joe never received your message either, something very dishonest going on here. These pictures will speak for themselves. I did not want to be in the middle of this but others have ask for my opinion so here are the facts and the screen shots I received from Joe.

That is way to much few for a Bolivian neonate. One very small meal every 2 weeks is the most they can handle. I have seen many die from a regurge and being stopped up because of this.

I am not here to pick on you bro. But never start a viral war unless you have your documentation 100% in your hand. Always ask a sellers policy before buying never assume anything. Make very certain you ask questions on feeding. Joe did some wrong in this too. He should have never lost his temper.
You have to see it from his side also you waited 13 days to tell him a snake had died in your possession. You claim died soon after you got it. It may have died on that day. But we don't know you say you deleted the message. Joe never got it, so we must only assume it does not exist. This whole thing is a bad deal. I am out of it after this post. I was just drug in to point out facts.

Well, as anyone with an iPhone should know, deleting individual texts from a chain of messages is super easy and they're gone without a trace. That really isn't proof that the message never occurred.

Just curious as to how you're connected to all this? Why did Joe send you screenshots from his iPhone instead of posting them here himself? Not to be accusatory, just wondering.

Also I really want to know why he said the snakes were stolen. I still don't get that.

here i am big bad joe..the adult bolivians were purchased from gus renfro by two gentlemen. victor mena and oscar sanchez. oscar owned petland in brownsville, tx and victor was the manager. both of them purchased the bolivians they were not stolen i was being sarcastic. anyway i have talked to victor and he has stated that he has cleared his debt with gus. i acquired them from mr sanchez 3yrs ago. like i stated in my texts no body else has had any problems with my bolivians and i still have what i am holding back. all boas are doing great. there are no phantom texts that were deleted. the texts are as they occurred. upon delivery blake thoroughly examined the boas and then paid. i never received any text until 13 days later about the female passing. then he wanted another female as you all have seen in the texts. now if i am guilty of anything. im guilty of selling these awesome boas to a newbie..once they leave my care they are the buyers responsibility. they were were doing fine in my care for over two in a half months and did not show any signs of illness. now if your are a herper and know just the basics. its common sense that you do not feed a large rodent to a baby boa..that snake looked injured and was tossing and turning due to a injury to the spin of some sort. now maybe, just maybe im wrong, but in my 25+yrs breeding herps i have seen this happen. hell its happened to me. i didnt have the nerve or audacity to blame, slander, defame the seller. as the texts clearly show he wanted another boa so if they are sick why would he ask for another boa? i do not give a 30 day idiot warranty. the buyer is responsible for what ever happens to his charges. he never called or texted the next day as he claimed. oh and how convenient that he erased his texts. you would think that texts pertaining to a transaction would be more important that regular chit chat. so for all of you ready to crucify me hang me or whatever. believe what you want. the burden of proof is on him as to weather they were sick or improperly cared for. facts are facts mine and my other customers are still alive. why? because they know what they are doing. besides you really cant trust a guy who was trying to sell texas tortoises in the pet shop he works at. i have the pictures on my phone to prove it. the owner was very happy that i informed him of what potentially could have got him in trouble due to blakes carelessness..maybe i should make a you tube video about it. nahh i have have a life..time to go and down some beers. everyone have a good weekend and god bless...bigjoe out. ps i also sell sick dwarf boas, albino boas, albino balls, bumble bees, surinames, hypo hogs, gtp, bennett wallabies, redfoots, sulcatas, and several species of macaws. pss. if any of you all feel like telling me off like the cowards did on facebook. just call me its faster 956-457-8289

Oh wow wall of text, that was hard to read Joe. I personally would honor my warranty no matter what price paid. The fact you made it clear you would not if not paid full amount makes me wonder just how much you knew about these snakes when putting them up for sale.

I've deleted texts before due to running out of room then when I had to find them again for whatever reason, kicked myself for doing it because I was sure I wouldn't need them. Who's to say he didn't delete them before receiving the snakes and there for wouldn't know he needed them. That video makes me sick, the last part is so sad I cannot believe what I watching. No animal should have to go through this.

Is it just "ME" or is someone else thinking what I am thinking??? The pic that Blake posted and says it was a pic of the snake the "very next day"...doesn't it seem odd to you? What I mean by this is...he claims the snake looked backed up/impacted as shown on the pic...well we all know if it was "impacted" a snake doesn't get that bad "overnight"...which then brings up my next question...WHO IN THERE RIGHT MIND would go to a seller and see a snake in that condition and buy two of them??? 300 bucks is a lot of money for me to be just throwing away, so my question is, was the snake actually that backed up? or was it due to someone constantly feeding the poor thing? AND if you have an animal that looks like that the very next day of getting it why in the world would you CONTINUE TO FEED THE POOR THING??? that has me question Blake on that issue and his experience with snakes. Those two snakes should have been taken to the Vet in his home town of Harlingen that next day that he said he saw it like that!

another issue, the "not expecting money back or wanting another snake" then why text Joe so many days later asking for another? CLEARLY you took vid of yours passing in a most horrible way...so why ask for another that might potentially pass away again on you? I find it kinda strange that JRStang who has sibs of the boas you purchased are doing just fine and that the ones Joe has are doing good too...could it be that Blake just might not of known that much about Amaralis?

The vid (which sounded nicely script) WILL get you sympathy votes...but the facts may disclose that you just might not of been ready to care for finicky snakes like these that are not as forgivable as BCIs. And the ending was just horrid! The poor thing should have been taken to a vet to be put down instead of you letting it suffer as it did Blake!

and lastly...after BigJoe posted his side...why hasn't Blake responded??? He has viewed Joe's reply...he has no defense to what Joe has said?
