In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

John Lucas, California Silkworms, Chameleon Paradise, Bad Guy

I have initiated this thread after much deliberation these last few months, and it refers to a thread in the BOI initiated by John Lucas in Sep ’04 that included in its heading “……. The Chameleon Company (Jim Flaherty), Bad Guy“. A summary of the false allegations made by John against my company would be his words “I am posting this thread to expose recent attacks by …… Jim Flaherty (the Chameleon Company) towards other …. breeders …. [are] needless, unjustified, and childish attempts at slander, and are an explicit example of bad business practices …” etc. It was “reviewed and approved” by Vincent Wong at Screameleons, Lane Gergely of Legend Chams, and “Dennis” . Additional posts by these entities within the thread included “the Chameleon Company … has gotten away with this in the past“. The thread is long and tedious, with many entities commenting, and part of the ongoing feud which seemed to generate the original thread spilled over into other threads, as in the Chameleon Photo Gallery “FRESH WC PANTHERS, Ankaramy…., and more recently as in the BOI last month “Legendcham … Bad Guy“.

To his credit, and with my thanks, Vince at Screameleons acknowledged his mistake in naming me later in the original thread. In other threads, and in side emails, I have received sincere apologies from other entities who originally took John’s accusations as fact, and expressed a negative opinion about my conduct based on those misrepresentations. I am grateful for those acknowledgements. However, despite attempts on my part to contact John Lucas via private email, he has not responded in any forum, public or private. As a matter of business, I feel that he has had more than enough time to acknowledge his error, and repair the situation. I have asked John in private emails what issues he in-fact has with my business or I, or where I had mis-spoke on his behalf. No reply. I am led to believe that he has been contacted by others as well about this issue.

I have no qualms with John’s business, have never dealt with him in a business transaction, and have no reason to question his integrity outside of this issue. I do not doubt that he had, and may still have, issues with other entities. Nor am I concerned about his private opinions of me. But I have concluded that he either still stands behind his false statements about my business and I, and believes them to be true while his then-cohorts do not, or he feels no obligation to repair his mistake. If the latter, it is he who should have posted a retraction in this forum. I wish that he had.

Of course he wont respond, its quite common that people like this "talk-trash" in a feeble attempt to steal business away from legitimate good guys, and then once they are called on it they usually have no legitimate means of backing up thier own nonsense. Quite funny really in a sad sad way....

These sort of tactics are used by the worst in the business, thier names are already tarnished so in order to continue receiving customers they have to convince them that there are others who are much worse. Funny enough, those "others" usually consist of all of their competition, pathetic really. Not to mention VERY obvious. Most consumers, even new to the "chameleon biz" see this for exactly what it is, even though he may think he's fooling someone.

My advise, ignore it..... Keep doing what you're doing, and let your work speak for itself. Try to refrain from fueling any more drama or long drawn out battles. It makes it harder for everyone, but still be informative of course........

Your customers and people whom you have conducted business with will speak volumes enough, and if this individual still wishes to act in this manner perhaps there can be soem legal recourse. I would suggest keeping that quiet until the "papers are in the mail" however, any attorney will tell you the same.

In my opinion it takes a very pathetic individual to make false claims in order to profit or gain from the aftermath. Apology or not, I do not think I would associate with such scum. Asking for an apology seems a bit like "too little, too late..."

...Thanks Chris, but let me add a little ....

Chris,
Thank you for the input. I do want to point out that I think that one of the original motivations by all involved was that there had been trash talking going on in other forums, etc, and that those who lent their names to the thread felt as though they had been unjustly attacked. I do not wish to re-fight that battle, and I do not question that all individuals involved in the initial post felt that they had been unfairly and innacurately characterized by these earlier other posts. I was ignorant to it all, and wasn't a part of that situation, although I was named by John as I mentioned. I think he jumped the gun, and only asked for him to retract his comments about my business and I. Despite my initial differences with all parties that lent their name to John, there's a lot of people putting alot of hard work into what they do, and I was able to mend things there. As the initiator of this thread, though, I cannot assign all these other motivations, as I know not where the first stone was thrown, or by whom. It did get out of hand, and all parties would probably agree to that. Hope all is well up north.

Well as can be expected, perhaps we may even see a day this week where it is safe to ship our orders! :)

I seriously need to consider a move south, lol.

Good Luck!
