In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

The BOI is of the user johnnydr, or John Robbins

This transaction went on over a different forum - however, the seller is still somewhat active on this site and I thought it best that others were aware.

I contacted Mr. Robbins on the 20th of January regarding his female All-American Tegu found in the classified here.

We discussed her care at the time, and came to a final transaction of $280.00 shipped. The payment was to be by money order. I paid via MoneyGram and it was sent on February 2nd.

After Mr. Robbins confirmed he received the MO, he contacted me stating he would look at weather forecasts and we could arrange a shipping date that would work best. Sadly I've received no correspondence from Mr. Robbins since the 14th of February.

I've recently searched the address provided and found the rental property on a number of realty websites, have being listed for approximately two weeks.

I have a dim hope that this is all a misunderstanding, something to do with him moving perhaps.

I most certainly am to blame, as I acted both rashly and irresponsibly - in retrospect I should've probably sent a certified letter in addition to using a USPS MO. Though, as-is it seems I've merely paid for my stupidity.

I've attached the PM conversation - I tried to resize things correctly, but I'm not too good with this stuff please let me know if it's difficult to read or otherwise.

Also, I'm unsure of the personal privacy required on the forums so I've edited out some information - though I can provide it if it's not violating a rule.

Is this the one he was selling you? What makes me think he intentionally was scamming you is he said he paid 350 for the one in that Fauna ad but agrees to sell you one for 280.00 shipped(In Florida anything under 300.00 is not a felony charge in regards to theft)

He had two different tegus - one was a male, the one I was buying was his female who had some back problems early on in life. There are some YouTube videos of the tegu as well here:

on Candyapplebone's channel - he linked this in a few threads posted on TeguTalk

That's good information

It would be best if you possess your images here as attachments. Having them hosted elsewhere becomes a problem if they are removed for any reason (intentionally, or not) as it creates gaps in the thread

Gotcha.

Hello All,

I am looking to sell my 2007 sub-adult female M. emys phayrei.

I would NEVER have wanted to sell, her, but due to moving from rental to rental, I am looking for a more permanent OUTDOOR situation for her. I bought here when I was 19 and a bit less responsible....she has gotten great care (daily baths and nomnoms), is used to other reptiles, dogs, feet and maybe cats. weighs around 13 lbs.
Contact me for more information!
John

Hopefully it is just a misunderstanding but only time will tell.

Have you tried to call the phone number he gave you?

Unfortunately that's actually my cell phone # that I gave to him.

Hopefully it is just a misunderstanding but only time will tell.

That's what I'm hoping, and one reason I posted this in addition to another topic on the other forum - maybe to catch his attention or at least something.

Post the rest of the info you have for him. There are some excellent detectives on the Boi that can help you track him down to get this straightened out.

Here's what I've got:

Shipping Address -

John Robbins
103a North 13th St.
Wilmington, NC 28403

His DOB: 10/06/1988 (24 yr)

He lived with 5 roommates in a 6 bedroom rental property for the duration school, and was selling most of his animals due to the fact he would be graduating and therefore was unsure of his housing arrangements. That lead me to believe he went to school within the immediate vicinity of the address.

I did a search for 'John Robbins' in Wilmington NC, and I think his middle name is most likely David - simply due to the fact that John David Robbins were the only hits I saw that were around the same age range.

His YouTube account name is Candyapplebone - he seems to mostly upload videos of various video games he plays and some about his animals.

There are numerous videos with picture of himself, in addition to a picture being displayed in his TeguTalk profile. I haven't been able to locate a Facebook page with the same photo or a similar one so far - though I will admit I don't know much about using Facebook.

That's what I've got so far, and help would be greatly appreciated.

Found a post by him on Tegu Talk: (http://www.tegutalk.com/archive/index.php?thread-12447.html)

His username there being "candyapplecorn", where he claims ownership of the "candyapplebone" YouTube channel.

And found a John D. Robbins on a listing for a class at University of North Carolina Wilmington: (http://uncw.edu/pia/documents/GreatDecisionsSyllabusandSpeakerSchedule-Spring2012.pdf)

Okay. This is interesting.

I think I got the wrong YouTube account - it looks like the links were confused, Candyapplecorn seems to be someone else. It looks like both of them received tegus with some sort of abnormalities about them.

I think this is his actual YouTube channel:

Thanks for the info on the university!

Thank you everyone!

I just called the Pet Resort and spoke to John on the phone.

He said that he had indeed just moved - and he'll email me after he gets off of work.

Let's see how the rest goes.
