• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anybody know why Jon at Jon's Jungle is so slow in replying to my e-mails regarding the sales of high end geckos? I had to keep chasing him by resending e-mails in order to get a single reply. Should I take my business somewhere else or keep waiting patiently and resending e-mails?

Jon is hard to get ahold of...

He is a good guy who is very busy. His animals are top notch, at least the ones I have seen and purchased. I know he has some high end geckos, albino fat tails and Amyea. I will buy from him again.

Great guy with great animals....not cool if hes making you wait on emails, but like it was said, he is a busy guy....to me, its worth the wait..

Jon is a good guy, perhaps there is some reason why he is not responding. have you tried calling him?

i get tons of emails, and many go unreturned for a number of different reasons. the most common is that folks have goofed up their return email, so anything i write back NEVER MAKES IT, and i have no way of letting them know that. something as simple as [email protected] instead of [email protected]. double check your email settings and addresses.

few things in life are more frustrating then taking 20 minutes writing some email novel back to a guy, answering husbandry questions about an animal he didn't buy from you, only to have it bounce back immediately "undeliverable" : (

perhaps you are one of the folks that send emails that are 3 feet long, all one paragraph, with rambling questions about 38 topics, in crazy fonts, crazy colors (green text on a slightly darker green screen), or with bad spelling and grammar. i typically save the super long emails for "later", hoping to find a half and hour to decipher it, and then another half an hour to respond, but often times, those marathons get buried under the other 500 genuine, short answer emails i got this week (not to mention the 500 spams a day : ).

speaking of spam, perhaps your email address triggers the SDAM/porno filter. i have had emails culled from "George Beaver" and "Cindy Cocksman" and just recently, something like "cocksteen9314" (great, "cock" and "teen" in the address!). these were all legitimate customers, with legitimate orders and questions, but i only luckily stumbled on their orders in the deleted file. i quietly suggested they change their email addresses to avoid this problem in the future...

regarding your specific situation (and not my rambling on a broad subject : ) why not just CALL HIM? his number is on the front page of his site. some topics and questions are just too difficult to effectively handle by email. what might take me 25 minutes to compose can be quickly handled in a 5 minute phone call.

and lastly, please don't forget that he is probably prepping for Daytona, and he doesn't exactly have a staff of 25 people, so i am sure he is like the rest of us, and slammed under deadlines, and forced to prioritize what REALLY gets done before leaving for a week (and returning even MORE behind : )

he has some amazing geckos, it would be a poor choice to miss out over waiting for emails...

Unfortunately he is slow to respond via email and phone.
I emailed him several times regarding buying some rather expensive animals as a "surprise" for my husband and never got a response.
After discussing my inability to get a response from him with my husband he mentioned he had talked with Jon on the phone and through email (I did not know this at the time of my attempted correspondence). A tentative deal had been struck but due to Jons' slow response to both email and phone messages my husband decided to pass.
The deal they were discussing amounted to close to $3000.00 and without a willingness on Jons' end to provide timely responses my husband just wasn't willing to take the risk.
I had hoped this was an isolated incident but it seems as though this is routine procedure when trying to contact him.

I have had problems with Jon in the past, along the lines of him selling animals he didn't have yet, and when I kept bugging him about recieving the animals I payed for, he tried to scramble and gather up an animal here, an animal there...not the animals that we agreed upon, that he supposedly had in his collection when I sent him my money... He is a broker, not a breeder, so be careful...

If you do a search of "Jon's Jungle" here on the BOI, you will find my post, as well as others, and how we were walked all over by him... It took me at least a month in some cases to get a hold of him, to try to figure out what was going on with the shipment of my animals... It finally took several months to get my money back, after him already sending me one check which bounced, and I had to pay for the penalty charge myself...So in the end, I ended up losing 30 bucks, and still had no animals....

I'd be cautious, as other people have had similar bad experiences as well..

Cheers,

Crossing my fingers now...

G'day Mate,

I sent Jon a money order overnight via USPS on 10/19/04 for the purchase of a male pastel breeder. I phoned him a few times yesterday (10/21/2004) to confirm that he would ship on Thursday for delivery on Friday (10/22/2004). I spoke with him and he said that it was close to closing time (USPS, FedEx, Airborne??) but he'd try to ship out the package and more importantly, he would phone me either way to let me know if the package was shipped. Well, no phone call from him and I couldn't get a hold of him when I phoned his cell phone several times late yesterday evening.

I had to have someone available this morning just in case the package arrived and guess what, it didn't arrive! I'm very upset because this will cost me additional money to the tune of $200 ($25/hr x 8 hrs) since I paid for someone to take off work and be available to sign for the animal. I couldn't be here because I had business elsewhere this morning. I left Jon a message conveying my unhappiness about him not contacting me to let me know if he shipped or not. To me, this is VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION, especially since today is a business day and most people have to make arrangements to be available for delivery!

I'm not smearing his name in the mud or anything, just providing "real-time" information as to my experience with him thus far. I'm hopeful that I'll speak to him today and more than likely pickup the animal from the airport tomorrow.

Makes me wonder why the heck he requested overnight payment via money order if I have to wait until Sat or Tuesday (if he ships on Monday) for my animal? I could have saved money on shipping if I sent it out via USPS priority mail, not including the expenditure of $200.00 that I wasted today! I intially thought "Jon's Jungle" was "Jason's Jungle" by mistake and bypassed the BOI before the purchase. :(

Once again, I'm not smearing the guys name in the mud and I will keep the group updated on the status of this transaction. I just don't like how it's going thus far....
