Hi, I am just wanting to know if anyone knows anything about them. They have a snake I want, I know they will not sell to the public, I am going to go through a pet store if I get it. But back to the point, I want to know if I do order a snke from them if it is going to be healthy. I was speaking to someone there last night via IMs and they would not give their name, that seemed off to me. Okay, thats it I think, lol. If yall dont mind, please give me your opions, thank you.

P.S. Hi Rob, I remembered to post my full name this time!:D

JP Pets dont do it

I have to preface this statement with the fact that I have never personally witnessed the condition of any animals from JP Pets. However, I know that many people who I have dealt with WILL NOT purchase anything from them. The comments that I have heard revolve mainly around the animal being sick or dead when it arrives. Take that for what it is worth.

There is a good reason they only lasted 3 orders with us.

I remember one time in particular I ordered a bunch of stuff and a lot of it came in dead. So much so that I had to replace the order to get in stock for my cages at the store. They didn't have what came in dead to replace everything, but said they would make it worth my while. Their idea of making it worth my while was sending me a 4 foot water snake that refused to eat, ever....and some more stuff that died in transit.

Order 1-great, expected casualites from a wholesaler.

order 2-I could have helped my local taxidermist retire right then and there.

order 3-final nail in the coffin. I stuck with silver city after that. They are the same kind of business as JP, even pretty close together if I remember right, but I NEVER had the DOA and animal problems I had with JP.

I will say though that I was never lied to by JP Pets. I may be less than turned on by their methods, but they never lied to me, and I continued to talk with those guys for month after my last order.

This was all a few years back btw.

Oh, if you want a particular animal, and just one or two, go with someone like Kevin@NERD. He'll take care of you, even if you only buy one tree frog from him, he'll remember your name.

What are you looking for? I agree with Steve, If Kevin has got what you want you can't go wrong. 90% of my high end BP HETS have come from Kevin @ NERD. They EAT and EAT and BREED. Every Ball Python I have purchased through Kev has consistently eaten Defrosted Rats. I have never had a problem.
My female Borneo Bloods also came from Kevin and they have never refused a Def. meal. Although one has never refused my arm going for the H20 dish either. LOL. She is "different"
I also purchased a Het BP from VPI B4 Christmas and she wasn't advertised as being a Def. rat eater(most of them aren't) but she took a defrosted rat 3 or 4 days after she arrived. Now she's taking them "left in her cage" right B4 dark. Warm it, drop it,come back in 10 mins. to see if she wants another one. I love Bp's that eat!!!

The store I used to run ordered about half of our herps from Joe. I would guess over 90% of the orders arrived healthy (orders usually were around 30+ herps at a time). The biggest troubles we had were with the frogs and ball pythons.. but.. it wasn't that bad (mainly ticks, but that problem is easily fixed). I never opened a box to see a dead snake or lizard. Our dealings with Joe were always pleasant and when he was coming to the All Ohio show, he always stopped by and let us hand pick our order. His packing was good and his prices were good.

I think he is a good guy.. but you must remember you are mainly dealing with imported snakes and you should prepare for that. There are alot of importers out there... some have better reps than others... but... they are still fresh imports.
