In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This guy was selling a lil ole boa and I checked out his rep here on the BOI and he seems to be a good guy and a nice person. He does not take Paypal, wanted a money order (this is not an expensive snake by the way). I sent him the MO and on Friday he emails me asking could he ship Monday because the snake just ate a few days ago; and of course I said sure, and that I would be home all day Tuesday to receive the snake.
Monday he does not email any tracking info, but I was busy and did not worry. Tuesday, no snake. He had provided me with his home and work # (a good sign) and I called and left a message for him on his home phone. His work said that he was gone for a week. He has not answered his email I sent him.
I guess it must have just slipped his mind to ship my snake; my plan is to wait out the week in case he had to leave on business or family matters; is this what y'all would do if this happened to you?

....you have mail. Juan is legit and I know for a fact that he is out of the country for a week or so. I will probably be the first person he calls to tell me about his trip.

Yeah...Juan is a good to deal with. I dont know him personally, but I have bought a few snakes off of him over they years(usually just nice pattern/color normal girls for breeders). I have never had a problem with him or any of his herps. Hopefully, its just bad timing with him being on a trip or something. Keep us updated!

business ethics

I'm not trying to bash Juan, as I don't know him and have never done business with him. I just don't understand why people don't ship when they say they will, and don't contact the buyer to tell them they are not shipping. I had this happen to me before. I took a half day off work so I would be home to accept a snake. I even contacted the seller the day before to comfirm that he was going to ship the following day. Then no snake arrived. I contacted the seller, and he said he was busy and wasn't able to ship. This is just bad business as far as I'm concerned. You should at least contact the buyer and let them know. If he had just contacted me, I wouldn't have had to waste a half days vacation.

Sorry for ranting, but this is just one of my pet peeves.

Hope all works out for you.

I've had the same thing happen twice!
Both sellers never shipped when they were supposed to and I ended up wasting the day waiting for the animals.
One person shipped made the second shipping date but the other guy missed 3!
It really pissed me off.
I have had people paypal me for snakes on a Sunday night and ask to have the snake shipped the next morning. I was able to do it so why can't other sellers ship on time when the day is agreed to well in advance?

I agree that if one takes off work it is very frustrating to not get a shipment. Fortunately I am on vacation and was able to clean the garage while waiting for the UPS truck so it was not a complete disaster.
My concern, actually, was for the snake: if for some reason he had shipped and the snake did not arrive, I would have felt very guilty for not doing something, and that is why I posted, to get info about him to decide whether to worry. I had no tracking # but I got a report that he went to visit his family; so I was satisfied that there was no small stranded homeless snake, he had simply forgotten.
His reputation is excellent, and to me, family is VERY important, and I lost no wages because I was home; so other than the initial anxiety about the snake, I was not damaged.
I hope Juan returns back this weekend as I would love to get my new snake soon.

The fact of the matter is, the seller

has an obligation to the buyer once monies change hands. Poor business ethics. You ever notice how many people have to leave town AFTER, they have your money. I dont care how good of a shipper he is or how honest he may appear, the fact remains. Let the buyer know, which is the very least someone can provide when they enter the business world.

Just got an email from Juan, he is back from Mexico; we will try again for delivery this week, I am hoping all goes well.

Well, I received my boa this morning and she is very nice, much much nicer than I expected for the money I paid.
I guess the shipping delay was just one of those things; it would have been nice to have received a note from him prior to the week delay, but considering what a good snake I got, and he did email and apologize, I still count it as a good deal.
