In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy jungle bob

I'm sorry I didn't post on here earlier. I happened to see the post on the other forum and figured I am in the area and I had never been there but had happened by it when I was searching for the bike place that used to be right there a couple weeks ago and had wanted to go check it out ever since... I'm currently in the market for a couple new babies because I want to get back into rhacs, I didn't know of this forum and for the need for "proof" on either side or I would have asked to take photos.... well I finally had a chance to go after my finals the other day and here is what I noted:

I went into the store on saturday after my finals, and some things chris said are true... although it's not nearly the worst I have seen. Sadly just a couple things off the top of my head were:
-the leos were on sand and were blatantly impacted and emaciated as well as having no water (because it obviously evaporated)
-the chameleons water source had nothing in it (the dripper thing) and I saw a big spiders web in the leaf decorations in the tank (ugh yuck)
-quite a few of the reptiles were not as plump as they could be but that goes along with the "maintenance diet" that someone mentioned on here in an earlier post - not the best for them and I don't agree with it, but if it keeps them alive... happy i guess is for the end owner to provide :) (also noted that the dead crickets i saw in the tanks were not dusted with anything - but that of course could be because it was not their vitamin or calcium feeding schedule days....?)
-they had a new "local breeders" section where they setup a couple of the reptiles as if they were in a show in the little deli cups and sadly there was a little baby crestie that was in the middle of shedding and he had shed stuck everywhere and no moisture in the little cup (he was only $25 and I wanted him so bad but I don't have a tank for a baby crestie right now)
-there were a good number of tanks I saw the temp was too high (but then again I was reading it off the stick-on the outside of the tank thermometers so it def. wasn't accurate, but if it wasn't accurate then that means they couldn't know the temp themselves...? unless they have a handheld), the water had evaporated, dirty inside, etc.
You could definitely tell which animals were favored and which ones weren't with how their tanks looked. OR what their cleaning schedule is and those tanks just happened to have been cleaned recently.

But over-all that's definitely not worse than I have seen at places like the old Petco's (before their policies were changed), pet-land discounters, and some individual pet shops.
I know of a shop that the owner fired one of their employees so the employee went to the ASPCA of Boston and told them what the guy was doing, then the owner heard about it and burned down his own shop with all the animals in it just so he wouldn't be brought up on animal cruelty charges and lose his animal distributor's license. They never had clear evidence that he did it but everyone in the community knew the timing couldn't have been that much of a coincidence. THAT was heartbreaking.

(that I do have proof of http://www.boston.com/news/local/ar...op_blaze_deliberately_set_fire_officials_say/ )

I used to work at 2 different pet shops through college and I know how hard it is and this was not even close to being the worst but things can always be better :) I think he is doing a good job with the educational classes/birthdays and everything and I hope he keeps it up, we need to keep the next generation motivated!

What does that last part have to do with this thread.... This is just getting more and more ridiculous.

yeah Chris it is here to stay.
and it will not go away.
the damage you did is considerable.
My attorney viewed it yesterday in fact and called it an "open and shut case of slander" as you accused and accused then recanted in writing for all the world to see.

I wonder what the ship captains code of ethics would say about that?
Not to mention the Namib Gecko disappeared, when you were THE ONLY PERSON who looked at it every time you came in and it disappeared after one of your visits. Three of us who work there all concur that you saw it last. It was a rare specimen, who would even know what it is ? only a reputable professional like you I would imagine.

hmmm. But I digress.

Sorry partner this will only go away when we are satisfied that justice is done and to do that will take a further admission of who put you up to this.
You know where we are, you have my number. All I ask is a private conversation of who put you up to this and I will handle it from there.

Then this will be over for you and I. If I do not hear from you I will pursue every method I have to be compensated for the damage done to Jungle Bob's.

We rescued this store after previous owners, all great guys, were losing considerable money. If I hadn't stepped in fixed it up, rescued it, it would have closed and the people in the area would have PETCOS to deal with. (two within two miles) and worse...the little guy, the local merchant would once again lose. To correct the poster about NY geography, we are far from NYC. We are on 100 mile long, LONG ISLAND and reptile shops are few and far between for the four million residents here. This one has been a fixture in the community for well over a decade now.
I didnt want that to happen and I stepped in. I fight government agencies, tax authorities, and unscruplous landlords every day. Our electric bill is over $1,000 a month, our rent $4,000 We pay our employees through the books and all are insured. We pay our bills and have stellar reputations with our suppliers. I have three kids, one entering college and a mortgage. I don't live with Mommy and Daddy captain.

SO the likes of you saying ANYTHING about an entrepreneur like me for you to be able to use this forum for some juvenile agenda frankly pisses me off.

(I ask the BOI to review some of their posting policies immediately, as something here is absolutely wrong) .

for the post who visited the store and "critiqued" our cages. I would love to do a random inspection of your two cages. Although I have been keeping reptiles for 40 years and know a lot, I will NEVER know it all ( unlike Mr. Link who apparently thinks he does) We try very hard to keep things clean and compared to what I have seen in my life, we are the BEST REPTILE STORE EVER.
We have increasing number of animals dropped off at our shop in the most horrible conditions on a weekly basis and do the best we can to get them in shape and move them on. We have more medicines in our back room than the local vet, but hey this isn't a perfect world is it? and far from a perfect hobby. There were absolutely spectacular specimens from local breeders on display and you zero in on a gecko that decided to shed? Please. Stop in again and TALK TO US with your husbandry ideas. Enlighten us with YOUR knowledge before you start another rant OK?

meanwhile Mr. Link, this is MY last post on this subject. I would hope you heed my words and give me a call so you can truly right this wrong. Did you know that earlier this week someone actually called all the pet stores around us and told them that Jungle Bobs was going out of business, was being busted by the DEC due to the venomous/illegal animals in my possession and to prepare for an increase in theirs?

Thanks to the other owners who alerted me, the caller was a woman who wouldn't identify herself and used a blocked ID. Another genius being manipulated for sure, but clearly this was not some one time idea to post on Fauna, it is a full fledged effort to slander my reputation, ruin my business of which you are the PRIME SUSPECT with your post.

Way to get set up.

I have a considerable investment here that is now been put in jeopardy by your actions.

Chris, You can help me plug this leak now or you can go down with the ship. If I don't hear from you by Monday, I will do what I have to do and teach you a very expensive lesson and that screwing with people's livelihoods is not a game.

Enough is enough.

Jungle Bob

ps and lastly For the poster who asked about the reality of the 10% off on reptile guru...it is true!! Just put in coupon code MAY when checking out. We would appreciate the help from all our fellow herpers.

Not trying to play detective here but is this the stolen gecko

No, that's the Rhacodactylus leachianus that the OP claims was severely underweight.

Google Namib sand gecko and check out the images..... They are sweet geckos.

Am I the only one doubting the OP's story that he was "put up to this" by others?

Granted, if he's not the only one with a grudge against Jungle Bob's (the woman on the phone, for instance), then it may be true, but...I doubt it.

Sorry Christopher...once you post in the BOI its here to stay

4 ever and ever. Reading rules is a good thing. :yesnod:

If you really were put up to this Chris, I'd make that call if I was you.
