Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Jungle Habitats Plastics- Alan Hall (Bad Guy)

I don't have a scanner, but I'm going to try and take a digital picture of the print out from Alan's website, that he sent me stating, ""Jennifer Your rack will be ready to go out before I headed out of town next week. Likely I will ship it on the Friday Nov 2nd when I am leaving for the SC reptile show".


Just a little more proof that Mr. Hall told me he would have the rack shipped out around Nov 2nd-5th time frame.
And yes his website does state that "Standard shipout time is 14-21 days from date of purchase(weekends &holidays exluded) with an additional 2-7 days depending on location and carrier for delivery". But the only reason I purchased from Mr. Hall was from the verbal agrement he made that he would have this item shipped out around Novemeber 2nd-5th.

And as of date, neither myself nor my fiancee have received a response to e-mails or PM sent to Mr. Hall.

Unfortunately Alan doesn't honor verbal agreements or written ones for that matter.

A 25% restocking fee when he screwed up? Yup, that's just stealing. No other way around it. Pretty poor business practice - I definitely know where I won't be taking any business to.

Yeah that about sums it up for me.. These threads keep popping up on Alan and yet he has had nothing to say in his defense about this Transaction.. I for one will never send him a penny. Ill also spread the word with my friends...

The key words here are "returned merchandise". No business shall charge a restocking fee on a merchandise that was never shipped in the first place and thus never returned. Needless to say it was never shipped because it was not ready to be shipped. Had the order been cancelled within the originally agreed timeframe it would have been a different story.

Apparently Alan took the Ed Clark course on how to deal with problems in business.
I've never understood how some people can put such a low value on their reputation. When he took Steve for $100 we knew Alan's rep was evidentially worth less than that. Now he's stolen $70 from David so that's more than he considers his reputation worth.

You have to wonder how little would the amount have to be for him to actually do the right thing if $70 is too much to resist the temptation to steal.

Please do not drag me into the middle of this. It is hard enough on me with people commenting like this.

I told Alan he could have that section on TRR. he made me a banner for shows I do. I will not break my deal. I am a very honest person. Everyone knows this. And for me to break a deal with a person becuase they themselves are breaking deals with others would make me a bad person also.

All you have is your word. I will not break mine.

This is a really messed up situation. I do not agree with the way Alan has done a few things.

If I take down the section it makes me no better then all the bad guys here. But Anyone can go onto the bad guy section and post. It will not be altered. Or the mod that does alter it will answer to me.

But Like said I can not break a deal I made before all this happened. I am sorry my word means a lot to me.

Well it's time to add a clause stating all parties with forums on your site must maintain a positive reputation, and require Alan to agree to it... IMHO

Gary,

Alan is a thief, and has been long before this particular transaction. By offering him a “home” on your site from which he can operate, you are facilitating his behavior. If you want to justify it by telling yourself you are doing the right thing by “keeping your word”, so be it. If you really think his behavior should not reflect upon your site, you are kidding yourself.

If I promised a guy a place to live and he turned out to be a thief, I would lose no sleep throwing him out on his behind. I doubt anyone would hold it against me that I failed to keep my word. I would rather break a promise than facilitate criminal activity.

My word means a lot to me too, but it is not an offer of unconditional immunity. Based on your post, Alan can swindle others all he wants and he will always have a “home” with you. Sorry, but it does reflect.

For the record: It is not official policy of this site to try to dictate how someone else runs their own website. Any member here CAN discuss such things, but in no event is such discussion to be considered as being done so at the urging nor support of the management of this site.

That being said, quite recently I had to personally take a stand against certain persons where evidence had become overwhelming that they were not dealing with the public in a manner I could help support by my inaction. They were using my servers to host their websites, and as such, I could not remain neutral in allowing them to possibly continue their actions USING me and my facilities in that respect.

In one instance it was easy, because the person had lapsed in his payments and I simply refused to offer renewal. The second was more difficult in that payment had been received and accepted. Since it is my belief that that money had been obtained through the scams indicated in the thread about this person, I took it upon myself to take those funds (even part of which had paid for past services) and donate it towards the fund to reimburse the victims of the apparent scam. Yes, in some respects that could put me in the appearance of being a bad guy by stealing those funds and not providing the services paid for. But tough noogies. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense, nor wind up being healthy for your reputation, to try to blindly ride the middle of the road...

While I have disagreed with some of the things Gary's done and said in the past, I can't see pressuring him to kick someone off his site. It is his to do with as he pleases and besides are we going to require background checks before allowing someone to post adds or have a forum on a web site ?? Seems we wouldn't have may places to hang out if that were a requirement.

How many times has it been brought up about some bad guy posting Adds ETC right here on Fauna ? as in Wes's not to subtle hint above there are and have been what many consider bad guys posting right here.

Yeah Allen needs to find a new line of work no two ways about it...Randy
