Yeah yeah... it's my duty to go serve as a jurer. I understand.
But unlike a lot of people, when I don't go to work, I get no pay. Add to that, I don't know how LONG this will last(one day? four days?) so I can't schedule ANY clients until I know when I'll be at work. So I know I'll be missing out on at least a couple days of work and at BEST have a slow week following however long I'm gone.
Then, they require "pants suit or dress" for women. I don't OWN that. Unless you count medieval costume skirts and dresses. I don't have money to go out and buy clothing just for jury duty, and then chunk it because I'll never have another reason to wear it.
They'll give me $15 per day. Because of where I live, that will just about cover my gas to and from the courthouse. Oh... and since I'll have to be there at 7:30am.... I have to leave my house at about 5:30am. And drive with no AC in the truck... during July in Florida.
I'm thinking that if I claim religious exemption for clothing, I can say that I dress as a Pirate because I am one of His Followers, Blessed by His Noodley Appendage, RAMEN. I have a flowy skirt, thigh boots and corset with a hat with feathers on it. That's "dressy" right? If they fuss, I can say I wasn't allowed to bring the dress sword.
Sigh. It's my duty. It's how we have a 'fair' justice system. But I am also allowed to vent and gripe about it too. I just hope I get a juicy trial that's over fast. Maybe I can be the one to yell "GUILTY!" at the end.
Oh!! And I have to report on the exact day that TWO of my clutchs are due to hatch! The AGONY!!!!
