In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just did something I said I'd never do..-.-"

I broke down and "rescued" a tiny little ball python from petco.
I said I would never do it even to help but I felt so bad for the little girl. She's so skinny, I asked the assistant when she last ate and he said yesterday...yep I guess it was one of those new tube mice I was hearing about, you know the ones that are skinny and long? because idk about you but I see no bulge in her tummy. She's as big around as my middle finger and her head his bigger than my pancakes though pancake is two times longer and MUCH fatter. Poor little one has mild scale rot which I'm treating with a betadine solution twice a day.
I said I would never buy from any retail store but now I'm so happy I could help her. She's a normal but her color is red and peach and not brown and tan like pancake. She's a beautiful and inquisitive little snake too:)
Lol the guy that got her out for me wore thick leather gloves and looked absolutely horrified when I held two with my bare hands....ugh..

Good luck with her! I rescued three green anoles once and a pretty crappy in health tarantula.

Confession time? Okay, I'll go next.
Over Christmas week, I was getting feeders and noticed a hatchling crested gecko for sale. In it's only food bowl was mealworms. (They told me it was store policy to only buy babies at 4+ months). I knew they would kill the little dude, and I wouldn't, so I bought it. It weighed 1.8 grams. It's gulping down CGD and doing great!

I hate going there to buy my feeders because I know I'll always want to look at the reptiles...poor girl. I had just come into Christmas money and wanted to spend it on something more for pancake but he can go without a dimmer for his heat lamp while Pricsilla recovers lol.
I haven't weighed her yet because I've been trying to limit my handling to just twice a day when I soak her in the betadine.

I am happy you were able to save her but unfortunately they are just gonna fill her spot with another neglected animal or two.

I'm aware. That's why I'm so disappointed in myself...though I'm happy I could make a diff. in her life.
I don't know, as soon as I held her I felt like she was mine, like it was irresponsible for me to just leave her there, like leaving defenseless puppies on the side of the road:(
It wasn't good to take her but I've always been a bleeding heart when it came to any animal.
Besides I would rather me have her than someone who wouldn't have even notice she was dehydrated, skinny, and had scale rot and would probably give her a terrible short life. Because I know responsible reptile owners don't often shop at these places for life animals besides maybe feeders.

There she is next to pancake, notice her head is as big as his yet shes so small.

Here's the mild scale rot, this iPad camera stinks but you can make out the tan scales.

You do not seem to be keeping her away from the other snake. If the rot is able to be passed on via contamination (i.e. caused by bacteria/fungi), then you are putting the other snake's health at serious risk. Quarantine of any new animal in a collection is recommended for a reason!

I only put them together for the brief photos and I washed my hands after putting her away and before handling pancake. They are currently being kept in separate rooms. Sorry I should have specified that. The photos literally took less than a minute. I just wanted to document her size for future reference.
