Just wondering ? Need a little help here

I'm new here AND to boas too.. I got this Colombian rtb from my best friend and I was wondering if there more to this snake as far as "morph" goes .. He told me it a Colombian rtb "HET ALBINO" .. Also that it's a female idk know how to sex a snake either ..

Very pretty lil boa! There's no way to tell if it's a het albino just by looking at it, as that means it would carry the albino genetics but not express the trait.

I doubt anybody would hazard a guess at gender based on those pictures. There isn't a color/pattern clue - gender is determined by the presence, or absence, of hemipenes. (Males have them, females don't.) An experienced person can sometimes tell using physical indicators, like spur size and tail shape; but that your snake isn't at the best size for that.

Agreed . Also , Colombians are often called "RTB's" by reptile shops and newer Boa owners , but they really aren't . True RTB's are BCC'S, and not the common BCI's ( like most all captive Colombians ) . True RTB's are from the Amazon Basin - Like Surinam's, Guyanans, Peruvian, Venezuelans, Brazilians . . . . Pet stores use the term for sales.

If you are new to boas it's best to take it to your local REPTILE vet to get it sexed.

For me, I "pop" the tail to expose the hemipenes. I wouldn't try this on your own because you can cause harm if you haven't been show how to do it.

The other safer way to me is to Probe it, being new I wouldn't do this because this too can cause harm.

The last way that I have read about is to run your fingers along the tail to "feel" for the hemipenes. I'm still new to this idea so I can't offer to much on the proper way of doing it.

Try to save money and ask one of your snake buddies to help. One who knows how to do it.
