    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================
    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Let me get this out before I start. If Justin Miller makes the deal right, I will either edit this post to remove the description, or request that it be taken down. However, until that happens, I will recant what unfolded in the last 6+ months.

The other players in the story (Zack, Chris) were fellow hobbyists who bought from Justin, to be shipped with my animals.

Through Facebook:

On June 7th, I paid $80 for a pair of Hemidactylus muriceus that Justin collected in Togo. Then, on June 20th, I paid $100 for a pair of Hemidactylus kyaboboensis that he collected. He said he would ship them to me when he landed back in the States with the animals.

On June 28th, I paid $50 for shipping, which was supposed to be on the 29th. Said he couldn't ship until the 30th. On the 30th, he said that he couldn't ship out until July 1st. On July 1st, he didn't ship due to the delays in Memphis because of storms. On July 2nd, he said he would try to ship to Chris (a fellow hobbyist who bought stuff from him also) when I was on vacation. It never happened.

On July 14th, he delayed to the 15th. On the 15th, he was delayed by a trip to/from Orlando and lost one of the geckos. On the 20th, he delayed shipping due to reacclimating the loose gecko.

On July 28th, he delayed shipping due to a doctor's appointment. On July 30th, Justin sent a package...only containing Chris's skinks. His excuse was that the geckos were too fast for capture in the time he had to ship.

On August 3rd, he delayed shipping. On the 4th, he didn't send the geckos (no response). On the 6th, he delayed shipping due to a FedEx delay. On the 7th, he delayed because of FedEx delays. On the 10th, he delayed shipping due to temperatures. On the 17th and the 20th, he did not respond to my request of shipping. On the 21st, he delayed because he ran out of phase panels. On the 25th, 26th, and 31st, he did not send because of phase panels.

On September 3rd, he delayed shipping. On the 9th, he did not respond to my requests to ship. On the 10th, he delayed shipping. On the 11th, 12th, and 14th, he did not respond to my requests for shipping. On the 17th, he delayed shipping. On the 21st and 22nd, he did not respond to my requests for shipping. On the 24th, he delayed shipping. On the 27th, he did not respond to my request for shipping. On the 28th, he delayed shipping. On the 30th, he did not respond to my request for shipping.

Through Facebook, Justin no longer answered me though I sent 10+ messages to him in November. All Facebook messages were screenshotted and available to those who want to see.

Through email: (Start at the bottom, it is the start. Sorry for the email format)

12/29/15

Can you ship the kyaboboensis and muriceus tomorrow?

Thanks,
Troy

At this point, I believe that we would be satisfied with just our money back. I would really love to have the geckos, but it is getting very cold here, and you haven’t been able to ship on the best days. Therefore, can you issue a refund?

I have heat and phase packs. 72 hour heat, so they don't get hotter then 100 degrees.

> Justin, I'm not sure if your phone/messenger are just not showing my messages. However, I see you post on Facebook all the time. I sent $80 on Jun 07 for the muriceus, $100 on Jun 20 for the kyaboboensis, and $50 on Jun 28 for shipping. It has been 4 months since I first paid and I still have no animals. I have been understanding the whole time, and I still understand that most of the time it was not your fault that you couldn't send. But the weather is nice now, I am free to receive, so you don't have an excuse anymore. Zack and I want the animals. If you don't have the animals, we want our money back. I'm sorry if I am coming off as rude, but it has been a really long time. If this persists, Zack has suggested that I post on the BOIs. I don't want to, but you are forcing my hand. Please PLEASE respond.

If Justin Miller makes this right, I will forgive him and do what I can to remove this thread. However, he posts up new animals on the classifieds but won't get back with me about my animals I purchased 6+ months ago. This is extremely frustrating.

Thank you for your time,
Troy Hartje

Lynn,

Justin and I got back in contact and came up with a specific date on which to ship and better lines of communication. If no shipping occurs, I will address the issue again. But, unless that happens, the issue has been resolved.

Thank you,
Troy Hartje

I would suggest reading over the following thread as well as the older BOI threads for him and I would suggest being suspicious of his claim to ship as he has done that to other people ...

Did he provide you with any import documentation on the geckos to prove he actually collected them himself? He has in the past made similar claims when he has been cherry picking from the actual importers.

Hope he comes through this time but given his prior history here on the BOI and his multiple shipping issues with you would not hold your breath. Know you sent the money via PayPal through Friends/Family but was it from your bank account directly or from a credit card? May have some leverage to get your money back if it came from your card.

He has promised to ship for 5 months now and now that he has promised to ship all is OK? :ack2:
Good luck working with him, your going to need it. Maybe check out Justyn Miller and you can how long this guy has been doing this.

Maybe it's just me, but... doesn't it seem fishy to you that he's basically led you on for the past 6 months and now is (possibly) doing the same thing by saying he'll ship?

Personally, I'd start trying to get my money back at this point and cut off all ties with him. There's plenty of reputable breeders out there, many of whom have the Good Guy threads to prove it and are members of this site.

Yet...

The issue has now been resolved, thanks for everyone's input! :)

Because...

Justin and I got back in contact and came up with a specific date on which to ship and better lines of communication. If no shipping occurs, I will address the issue again. But, unless that happens, the issue has been resolved.

...even though he hasn't shipped on at least two dozen specific dates up to this point. Seems legit.

Did he offer you freebie(s) or something to sweeten the pot if you posted that you considered this resolved? I'm trying to think of any other rational reason you would possess to consider him saying (not doing, saying) that he will ship on a particular date, and considering that "resolved".

It took me months to receive my order, too, but I did finally receive my geckos (one in very poor health). I really hope you receive your animals this time.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but I predict more shipping delays due to cold weather for the next few months.

Troy, unless you are accepting a promise alone in exchange for your money, it might not be the wisest thing to label a promise as a resolution.

I hope you get what you are actually owed at some point.

Thank you all for your input. While I know that Justin doesn't have the best track record, and there have been many delays, I'm willing to give him another chance. I've had friends who have received stuff from him fine, no problems. And then, some others have had a hard time. So at the moment, I'm willing to wait. If nothing comes of the deal, I will be reposting here then. ;)

Also, we are talking about Hemidactylus kyaboboensis and H. muriceus. While the species have been imported, it has been very infrequently. I'm willing to wait for them, if he follows through with the deal.

Again, thank you all for your input.
