    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Karma Question

I have a question. I have been a member since 2007, have 162 karma points and have over 100 posts, but yet I have a rep power of 0 still. Has something changed since this thread was started or am I missing something? If there's a link to it somewhere that would be fine too. thanks.

HAHA, I'm an idiot. For some reason, Fauna has always been difficult for me to comprehend. All the other forums I'm a part of make sense to me, but this one doesn't come naturally to me. You're right about the post thing, I was looking at the "new posts" on the welcome screen and not right under my name in every post. Sheesh, what a bonehead.

No problem. I didn't really start to figure it out until I started posting more, and even then I still don't understand it all. The feedback forum is a great place to look for information about the site along with the stickys and moderator posts.
 
Yea, post # 6 is no longer accurate. When Rich has some free time I might annoy him into giving me his new secret recipe :hehe:. I'll then update the info.

Although...the more things change, the more they stay the same, lol...

Hey - the karma power isn't showing anymore - it was just a couple weeks ago. I don't know exactly what mine is, Nick, but that sounds about right.

I apologize in advance for the possibly stupid question but it seems the more I read about this the more confused I feel ..

When I hit the karma button on a post I assume 'good post' equals positive karma and 'bad post' is negative but the message I receive after choosing bad post say something like 'if you are lucky you will get the same in return' which doesn't sound like what I want.

If someone can clear this up for me I would appreciate it.

You should only get the 'If you are lucky..." message if you have given good karma. Giving bad karma would result in a message "Thank you for deducting....."
 
Isn't the default setting for good Karma? Is it possible that you're typing your negative comment but mot switching the selection to "especially bad post" , or whatever it says?
 
It took me a minute to find someone worthy of some bad karma and the same thing happened! I clearly chose 'particularly bad post' and it gave me the same messagen 'if you are lucky...'

The only thing I can think of is that I do not have 100 posts yet. Would that effect it??
 
It might, because it wouldn't show as negative karma until you can give negative karma.
(the recipient will see a grey box, as opposed to green or red)

But, that is no longer an issue, as you have reached 100 posts
(be advised, if you give me negative karma as a test, I'll give it back to you....I'll call it a test, though,if it will make you feel better about your boxes turning red :dgrin: )
 
Red is a nice color but I will keep it green for a while :D

If I ever feel like a change il be sure shoot you some karma :rofl:
