Yeah, in my opinion anonymity pretty much guarantees abuse. Which is why I've pretty much always been pro-positive ID here. The Board Of Inquiry could not exist in any helpful fashion if all the posters were anonymous and not held liable for their words.
Same thing with the classifieds. I sure as heck wouldn't buy from someone who insisted on being anonymous. The requirement for people to provide their real name and location is a safety feature that everyone needs to pay close attention to. If someone is offering something for sale, and they want you to send payment to someone whose name and or location is different from what is shown in their profile, that SHOULD give prospective buyers reason to pause and think about what they are doing. Yeah, the seller can come up with all sorts of plausible reasons when you ask about it, but remember one thing here. That is PROOF that they have already lied. If they will lie to me, they will lie to you. So bear that in mind before you send off your hard earned money.
