1. Ok, I honestly don’t know what to think… but I do have a suspicion.
2. BOI… I never wanted to be here on either end.

-Made a deal to sell two Boas two weeks ago (price included shipping)
-Buyer said he would send a money order overnight so we would have it on Tuesday 12 -June and he wanted them shipped 13 June for a 14 June delivery (buyer stated he would send a tracking number for the overnight delivery of the money order on Monday 11 June). Buyer states he needs shipping prior to the weekend, because he is going on vacation for a couple of weeks, starting on the weekend.
-11 June- comes and goes, no email, no tracking number, we figured he changed his mind
-12 June- we get a phone call from a woman stating to be his wife that they have sent the money via western union. Money was sent by a third party in Canada. Buyer lives in Buffalo, NY (Woman gave spelling of the name, but the spelling was way off)
-13 June -Snakes sent for delivery on 14 June (tracking info emailed)
-14 June- FedEx calls us and states the address doesn’t exist. FedEx leaves messages on two telephone numbers provided. We also leave phone messages. We send multiple Emails. No replies.
-15 June- we contact FedEx at the buyers end and make arrangements for the snakes to be shipped back to us if they are not picked up by. We ask that they hold the snakes at their station as long as possible, but to have them shipped back to us for a (16 June) Saturday delivery.
-15 June 8am- Contact wife on her cell phone. She states someone has already left to pick up the snakes. (No one ever arrives to pick up the snakes)
-16 June- (Saturday) FedEx delivers snakes back to us
-17 June- Receive this email

Hello Mark, I don't know what happened with this situation. What a mess...Well I got one of my assistant to go pickup the boas, but he totally forgot and that is very irresponsible of him...so much so that I fired him aon the spot once I heard of him screwing up! Mad is an understatement on how I feel about this guy and his actions! Well I went today "Saturday" to the FedEx office and was notified that the boas had been sent back. I am so sorry about this incident and it has been a mess for all. I am actually not on vacation...totally skipped it just to make sure the boas are pickedup and are alright. Now I am stuck, the wife is not too happy either, we planned this trip for some time now.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that you didn’t inquire on the health of the boas.

Your wife was notified that if the snakes were not picked up Friday, that Friday evening they would be sent back to us. There was no way I was going to let those animals sit in a box over a weekend. You stated you were going on vacation this weekend and your lack of communication caused this reaction on my part.

When the FedEx shipping charges (both ways) shows up on my account, I will let you know how much you are being refunded. It will probably be a week to 10 days before I know. We will not be doing any further business.

This all seems so fishy to me. He knew I was sending via FedEx, I didn't pick up that I was sending to a US post office. Looks to me they were going to sneak the snakes north to Canada (I may be wrong). Any suggestions? Who should I send the money back to? This has pissed me off and I dont want to react in anger.

Male seems fine, waiting on the female to come around.

i would say refund whatever amount of money is left over after you take out all of the shipping costs. Refund what's left back to the person who actually sent the money. Then stay away from both of them. I do not think it would be good thing to get caught in the middle of illegal exporting if it turns out that is what they are doing.

This guy smuggles all his animals across the border and is one of the shdiest guys in Canada.

He does not go himself as he cannot cross the border if you know what I mean but sends his cronies to over (usually to Buffalo) and they bring them back.

This is interesting. Do you recall WHICH post office this was supposed to be sent to or held at, or did FedEx ever tell you that?

Since Buffalo is my home, I always dislike hearing shady dealings in this area and try to keep track of the jerky people.

Since they did send you the money (though not as they said they would), I doubt they were trying to scam you. It does seem like they're trying to sneak.

If I were you, I would contact the US Border Patrol and/or US Customs with information of all the peoples names that are involved in this. This really concerns me with the upcoming International Herp Symposium being held in Toronto (which is a short 2 hour drive into Canada from Buffalo).

I strongly suspect that these people wanted these animals to sell at reptile shows that are held that weekend (which is NEXT weekend). Blatantly ignoring import/export laws is never good for our hobby.

It was supposed to be delivered to 701 Washington Street (now I know its a post office). FedEx took it back and held it at a local distrobution building.

There are 3 phone/address listings for the last name of Boykin within walking distance of that post office, though additionally that PO is in the center of the downtown area and so perhaps whoever was supposed to pick it up works down there.

The three phone listings do not have the name Kenneth or "K", but perhaps one of the listings is a relative. PM me if you would like the 3 listings I found near that area, or just do a search yourself - addresses near zip code 14202 (ie 201, 202, 204) are the ones near the post office.

Ok first off, I am here to put things straight. I've kept myself away from these types of forums just because of things like this! It's been what 3 years since I posted or had anything to do with the reptile public...all because of things like this. You guys should get the facts right before you imply things and drag people's names in the dirt. For me, I don't care...there have been gossip and lies about me for years now and I chose not to get involved because it's really a waste of my time. But this thread involves an innocent person and a close friend/family of mine. You can say whatever you want about me, I won't lose sleep over it...example the biggest mouth Dan there have been talking smack and lies for 3 years now and not once it affects me to write back. Why? cuz I have a life and I simply live it...while he's been OBSESS about me for the past 3 years...I've been moving on and enjoying my life Just read the Canadian BOI...for years now he's talking smack..lol It's easy to talk smack to someone that does not reply back. Not because I am scared, just because I don't give a damn to hear his lies and made up stories....But I am back and will address all threads about me soon...even threads that has nothing to do with me, but Dan and his tag along fans drag me into!...Sheeesh guys when a guy doesn't reply back for 3 years...give up!!

Now to Kenneth Boykin, Mark I really don't understand your point of implying Kenneth or I of smuggling these snakes? Do you know how serious that is? and to imply it to someone or someones is a major thing. Honest truth I don't have to explain to you anything...you got your money and his snakes...no one ripped you off here? But since we have detective wannabes here and nosey people. I will explain some for you.
Kenneth is my brother in law...He is the nicest guy you'd ever meet and would help others out whenever he can. He is very upset about this and don't even know what to say about the whole situation! That is why I cannot stand by and let this thread get out of hand!I actually got him into boas and is currently building a small but nice collection. I have partnered up with him a few times on breeding projects and other purchases. Now as for your pair of Hypos, I have plenty of adult Hypos and much more...I do not want your pair. He saw your ad and wanted them, especially when they were such good price. He had just bought a few other boas and was low in cash. So he called me up and asked if I could lend him some cash...I did, it's only $600 and was gonna send it to him western Union...but then I told him I should just send it to you to save the time and fees of sending money twice. As for shipping, he should have waited til after his trip...but that's how Kenneth is, he's way too excited when knowing he's gonna get a new snake. He had his helper there go pickup the snakes, but as we all know that didn't happen. As for the P.O. Box...not everyone knows that FedEx don't ship to them...Also many people use P.O Boxes! Yes he did some mistakes in shipping times and should have managed it better...but does that make him a BAD GUY?? Or worst this crazy storey about smuggling? Do you know how bad that makes a person look? Do you even took the time to consider yourself in his shoes.
Remember...you HAVE the MONEY and his SNAKES!! Sheeesh and now you want to complain because a misunderstanding of getting a reliable person to pick it up and bad timing to request the boas being sent....So let me get this again:
You get Money Sent to you via western Union, you send it out and arrives on Thursday...relying on the wrong person to pickup the snakes...then went to pickup on Saturday morning but the boas got sent back by your request.....this all means he is a BAD GUY and a SNAKE SMUGGLER??
I don't know...I think this should be a buyer beware thread. Sheesh you got your Money and the snake...pickup was late then you make a thread ruining a guys name implying he's smuggling?
And to the others participating on this thread, trying to find his address...what for?...LOL leave the guy alone. Sheeesh talk about jumping to conclusions...and if you want to report this to the customs...go ahead and waste your time!! Who in their right minds is gonna risksmuggling snakes that are only cost $600! You guys are full of ideas and conclusions...LOL Makes me laugh! What the international reptile show?? Sheeeesh!! How about this idea and conclusion?? Mark was impatient and instead of resolving this, he came on here and implied false statements. How about this? This deal is just another normal snake deal, but got blown out of proportion! Oh yeah another thing, Kenneth has done business with many other breeders I don't want to name names, but there are big names and small breeders. Some as a joint partner with me. And not once did he have this type of problems! Man how many of you makes mistakes? The guy made a little mistake...man the snakes was not left for weeks! But the BIGGEST mistake he made was to deal with Mark! Oh BTW the snakes were away for what 2 days? and you say something wrong with the female? well then what health are your snakes? I've had snakes got lost for almost a week and in Winter and they arrived fine!
I really wish Kenneth would sign up and say something, but he's not that type to get into a pissing match. Neither am I but, this thread just isn't right.
As for Dan...you have had freedom to talk bullshit for 3 years since I have not been around. I'm back buddy...keep talking, but while you talk. back it up with some proof! Where this proof that I smuggle stuff? sheeeesh...enough of you, I will make a thread especially for you soon...you talk alot and act like yo know EVERYTHING about me! weird for a guy that met me once 3 years ago and all we had was a 5min conversation...hahaha....and please keep telling people you going to beat me up. Well, if you read the posts, no one ever said you were smuggling. Just that it seemed fishy, and with Buffalo being a border city, and payment coming from you for a purchase destined for someone else, that it could be a POSSIBILITY. Given the strange transaction, the attempted dropoff at a Post Office, payment that wasn't expected as Western Union, from a different name, there were a lot of things to create suspicion. And, with Western Union commonly used for scams, can you see why people might think something might be up? I don't know you and have never read any threads about you. But it did seem fishy. I'm glad that hopefully this isn't the case.

Your explanation helps defray that though. I don't think the seller plans on keeping the money, nor did they ever plan on keeping it. In the original poster's defense, they did not start this thread with a "bad guy" title.

Seems like one of those things where a lot of "wrong" sounding pieces could be put together to make a bad picture. Hopefully the snakes weren't injured at all from their long trip.

Lauren, I understand. And thanks for understanding abit of his situation...Just threads like these do get out of hand and makes someone look bad. He did make mistakes and should have took his time, especially when he knew he was going away. But he understands where you guys are coming from also...I just got upset when Kenneth is a good all round person. And him being a father and getting this thread on father's day just ruined the day he had with his kid.
I truly hope everything works out and I know Kenneth is sorry and hopes Mark and his family including the snakes are fine. Let's let them finish up with this refund or whatever they want to do.
