In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Kevin Roberts D&J Reptiles - Bad Guy

If I was D&J Reptiles, I might consider severing ties to Kevin Roberts. If they would allow him to continue working there after seeing how he treats reptiles and his own customers, that speaks volumes about them.
It's unfortunate that they were dragged into this by Kevin if they have nothing to do with it. Hopefully they'll send him a strong message that they don't condone his actions.

Charles,

Just as a note, I am not sure how long your post will be up, but there is a good chance the post you made on kingsnake's arboreal classifieds will be removed and you may end up losing your classifieds account for making that post as you did.

Also, I would NOT file a complaint with the USPS about this guy, regardless if you, your wife, or Jimmy JohnJohn signed for the package. It can only bring trouble and an even bigger headache than you are going through upon already.

Now, it appears that this was a sale between Kevin Roberts and Charles, not DNJ and Charles. I would agree that if Kevin is treating his own customers this way, who knows how he is treating DNJ's.

But also, I haven't seen Kevin posting, perhaps he needs to be notified separately if the owners of DNJ haven't let him know already.

I'm quite surprised this Kevin hasn't piped up a bit. His reputation is all but over with and if he doesn't clear this up then it will be over.

I would still turn it over to the USPS , if it can be shown that the original shipper was to be by another shipper other than USPS, a matter of showing that the shipper made the choice and not the receipant, then he should be O.K as far as things go with who the USPS will go after. We had that Cobra shipped out to a songwriter here in CA a few months ago in what was classified as an attempt homicde I think, Kevin is in deep dog doo if this gets turned over to USPS, the pictures will be enough even without the body.

Rob,

Do you really think he would get in trouble for this? He's a victim and it seems he has everything needed to show that. Also if he brings this forth to USPS they usually take that into account as well.

Ralph

Ralph,

I don't expect him to get in trouble HERE, but he made a post with a pic of the dead chondro on kingsnake's arboreal boids classifieds stating why not to buy from Kevin Roberts. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying that Charles is in the wrong, however it is strictly against kingsnake's TOS not to "badmouth" or post negative comments about advertisers on the site, and the post Charles made will probably be deleted(if it hasn't been already) and there is a possibility that he may lose his ability to post classified ads as well.

As far as the USPS, yes, there is a good chance he could still get in trouble. I think he may have a good leg to stand on since his wife unknowingly signed for it, but that is a strong MAY. Of course as far as we know it was Kevin's choice to send the snake using an illegal method, but it is hard to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Charles and his wife had NO knowledge of it. They knew that a snake was supposed to arrive that day(at least Charles did) regardless of shipper, so they could say, "hey, they got a box and they probably knew it was the snake regardless of who it came through."

Now, do I think that Charles would be alright if he turned Kevin in? Probably. Kevin has all the e-mails showing that the snake was to be shipped with a completely different shipper and that Kevin more than likely made the decision of his own volition. But it doesn't hurt to play devil's advocate just so that Charles knows what he likely COULD be getting into with making a complaint to the USPS about an illegal package which he/his wife signed for. Do I think Charles was wrong in signing for the snake? He!! NO!!! I would have signed for it rather than have it bounced back through that blackhole of the postal system.

I wish Charles the best of luck in getting his money back and making it through all this hassle with the least amount of headache.

As far as I know the USPS does not guarantee next day air to most places. It's sort of a 'we'll try our best but no promises' thing. You need to go after the seller for your refund, period. He screwed everything up quite badly.

Now that makes sense Rob, about the "devil's advocate" thing with USPS. As for the posting on KS, I didn't know about it and wouldn't have recommended that at all for all sorts of reasons.

Anybody know if D&J has been told of this thread? They need to do something about this "possible employee" if that's a way to describe him?

Just a little tip to prevent a major funk factor during the shipping of a dead animal.....If there isnt going to be a post mortum exam done by whomever is recieving the animal just bag and freeze it prior to shipping. If an exam IS going to be done DONT freeze the animal, it causes tissue and organ damage that prevents finding cause of death.

Also USPS has a very simple shipping rule, NO snakes and nothing venemous. There are many usPS offices that will ship snakes due to either lack of concern or no knowledge of the regulations. Even if they ship them for you its still a federal offense and its YOUR ass theyll come after.

kybmw325i - Please remember to sign your name to your posts on the BOI or they risk being deleted.

Question: Did you buy from Kevin Roberts or D&J Reptiles? I'm asking for clarification because I think using both his name and the business name caused confusion in the transaction with Charles.

re:Shipping USPS

You can't get in trouble for accepting the package but, YES IT IS ILLEGAL to ship any snakes USPS. This was completely wrong! Also, obviously some people have conditional live arrival guarntees. In my book live arrival is live arrival. Regardless of carrier error. I wish I could cover myself on the carrier errors over the years.!Claim with any carrier has to be filed by the shipper and is paid to the shipper. Most companies do not guarantee live animals anyway.(Sometimes Delta) In regards to the length of time with shipping... yes sometimes the animals are in transit over 48 hours but, even with imports that is rare. They are packed accordingly. Keep in mind also some heat packs last only 8 hours. Best to use 48 hour heat packs when possible. Some people ship second and even third day however, I would be more concerned about the specimen. We ship only next day. The longer in transit the more problems can arise. I'm not trying to make any enemy's but, I would not have shipped in this manner and I would have replaced the specimen once "Proof" was recieved. If there is no live arrival guarantee then your SOL. I think you better double check your sources on receiving shipments of snakes via USPS. There has been documentation shown on this board which suggests that it IS illegal to knowingly receive snakes that way. This makes sense when you consider the law's view of accomplice culpability.

I have some snakes in my freezer if anyone wants to buy them. I just can't guarantee live delivery.

Hello Terese Mansell

I got those 6 greentree from Kevin Roberts and this deal has nothing to do with DnJ. Kevin got those snakes from a shipment that was sent by Danny from DnJ. As far as i know, Those snakes are the hand picked by him and they are DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. You gys shouldnt criticize about Kevn if you havent done any business in the past with him. I know there are lots of a**holes in this business but he is NOT one of them.

If that's the case then Kevin needs to post here and resolve this with Charles. Kevin clearly sent the animals via USPS despite the buyers wishes. That can't be argued with, the remaining question is will he take care of his customer and refund the money owed.

I'm not saying Kevin is an A-hole, but it is clear he made some mistakes.
