In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I picked up this big Cali king at the reptile expo(Westchester county,N.Y.) a few weeks back.I gave her a few days,,then offered her a med.mouse, which she took.A week later she took a small rat.Six days later, another small rat.
So at this point I'm thinking she is a good feeder,,and I should see some quick growth, even though she is already over 4' .
But,,she has gone off feeding. It has been 12 or 13 days since she ate.
She is out cruising her tank a lot,,like she is looking for something,,or HE is looking for a "her".The guy I bought her from said he never sexed her,but could tell by her size and tail.I am going to get "it" probed soon.
If it is a she,,why the odd behavior ?

WOW,,20+ reads and no comment,,I'm not the only "green horn" on this site.
I should'nt say I'm a greener,,I have been keeping snakes for like 4-5 years,I just "read" into things too much

If you have females in your collection and this one is a male it could explain the lack of hunger due to having different hungers. Though the "looking for something" sounds to me like you may have a female that is soon to lay. You may want to provide a lay box and use a smaller water bowl just in case. You can try to feel for the eggs if this is what is happening. Have the snake move through your hands away from you while using your index finger to feel the belly as it moves through your grip. If it is a girl that is holding eggs you should be able to feel the eggs.

Dave, as far as my collection goes, I only have 2 snakes,,a male corn and a "female" Cali king.If love was in "the air",,the king should'nt be the one trailing with a nose to the round,if you know what I mean ;)
Her body does'nt seem to be swollen at all, very uniform.
I am just going to have to stop worrying about every little behavior that "I" think is out side the norm.
Man, the guy said this big snake was a girl,,he better be right !!!!

Hey ssshane,,sorry I have been away,so I missed that last question.
Well,no I have'nt had a chance to get her probed, but she did get back to eating.I think she went about a month.Since then she has taken a small rat and her last feed was a small rat AND a mouse. This snake can EAT
I am going to get together with hhmoore to get her probed, its just tough to set up a time.A guy that owns a local reptile shop(the ZOO)will probe a snake any time his shop is open, but charges $15 to do it.
I will get it done some time before I cool them in the fall.

WOW. $15.00 to probe a snake. Pay attention when he shows you, and get a set of probes. Its not hard once you have been properly shown how to. I know it can be intimidating at first, but its not hard to get the hang of. Good luck.

Yeah - I admit, that free time is a highly valued commodity - but I haven't heard back from you about this, either, lol. (I'm sure the kids are keeping you busy.)

On the lighter side of things - I ran into Kim on her way in this morning. She seems to be adjusting to your hobby (did she say obsession?, lol) pretty well.

:D hey Harald,,,she said she seen you too.Shes not thrilled with the snakes, but has learned to tolerate them :yesnod:
Yes, I know I haven't given you a call about getting together,,soon.
Oh man,the pet shop down the road just got in a new king snake that is BEAUTIFUL !!!!!! its a Cali that has a lot of white and lines and blotches of light chocolate, with a chocolate belly,,man I want it,but $169.99
