• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Kingsnake and JeffB minions at it AGAIN!

Here is a thread that is going on over at www.fieldherpers.com, which is administered by Christian Reynolds. It has really picked up the slack from the KS field collectors forums when it all went haywire over there. Any way, I can't say that I use or condone the language being used by some in this thread, but I certainly understand the frustration that has brought it out of these people. Kingsnake, JeffB, and Jason Sweigart from Classic Dums are enough to drive anyone nuts!!!

Here's the link.

HAHAHA

I read the entire thing.

I love the part when the showed who had registered those domains. Shows everyone who the really childish parties are.

I love it.

Arghh!!! Someone grab up FieldHobbyist.com QUICK!!

Oh No!! What about FaunaHobbyist????

Gosh, there's a WHOLE list of them still remaining:

SnakeHobbyist
LizardHobbyist
TurtleHobbyist
AmphibianHobbyist
HobbyHobbyist
DumerilsHobbyist.com
And last but not least: KingSnakeHobbyist!!!

Golly, PetHobbyists.com is available too.......

I have to admit, that was pretty low for someone to do.

Legal? Yes. Ethical? Hmm.....

I can hear the "Gee, it was a coincidence!" excuse now.

No, the thread is still there.

But I will copy the message from FieldHerpers.com that shows what the issue is about:

You know, the more I look at that WHOIS info, the more the question keeps jumping into my mind:

Who actually OWNS HERPHOBBYIST.COM?

I thought that in order to do anything with the domain name, it's the administrative contact whom has to give the OK.

Jason owns it... He registered it.
He then went to have the site hosted on Kingsnake.
That is why Jeff Barringer is the admin contact.

at least I think that is how it goes.

No, that is not the way it goes. I am now hosting two sites on one of my servers and none of the contact info for those two domains is in my name. Matter of fact, I helped one of the guys out by registering the name for him and then transferred ALL of the contact info over to him. (SnakesofNorthFlorida.com)

With the other site (StagsClub.com) I did nothing more than to tell the owner the DNS pointer info to change in his domain name record. That's the way it should be done in a case where someone else wants their domain hosted on someone else's server.

From what I have seen with the domain registrars I have worked with, if you want to move your domain name, change the DNS pointers (to put your domain on a different server) or basically do ANYTHING useful with your domain, the person whom gives permission for this to happen is the Administrative Contact.

So it would be wise for the REGISTRANT of the domain to not piss off the registered ADMINISTRATIVE CONTACT because someone has him/her by the short hairs.
