In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info *Kris Smalley : Disturbing photos

I agree with everything everyone said about the time frame, and the feeding.

This is a snake that hasn't eaten in FIVE MONTHS.

KristinaspicturesDONOTDELETE109.jpg

That is what she looked like the day that she was dropped off at my rescue, because she wouldn't eat and her owner panicked, so she turned her over to me.

That snake, after five months, is a tiny bit underweight. Your boas, on the other hand, were EMACIATED.

I too know what is involved in keeping a snake enclosure clean. And six weeks? You must really think we are all plain stupid.

Jackie- I answered a portion of your email, but once again (since you aren't understanding this), I am not here to plead Kris' case or be an intermediary between you. You can take him to task directly. If you don't want to come back here because of some of the questions I asked, you'll have to figure out another avenue that doesn't involve me.

You can accuse me of taking 'his side' but I am not. I just think the roommate who owned some of the animals and agreed to help care for all of them should also be named and taken to task. And I think that the friend who has claimed clear knowledge of the hellhole his reptiles lived in and not only did nothing, but sent another snake in to live there, should be taken to task as well. That doesn't mean he should get off scot-free. That isn't being on his side, that is just not being on your 'side'.

Once again, to be really clear, I contacted Kris Smalley to let him know of this thread and to try to encourage him to respond. It was never my intent to solicit information and then feed it to you and your anonymous cohort, and I don't see that really changing.

Just One Look.......Thats all it took........

I just fed 130 plus Venomous snakes I have in my collection.......All have Shit......Thanks for giving.......I'd surely suffer a bite from each while cleaning out the waste.....To spare just one of your snakes!!! :reddevil:

:yesnod:

Poor snakes...

I don't normally post on fauna much. I try to do mostly reading; however, I can't help but to post on this.

First off, I have had snakes not even use the bathroom in a 6 week period before. Especially when they are off feed or in the transitional stage from a smaller to larger prey. So to have that much fecal matter in a 6 week period, not likely. Even with regular feedings of good size prey, my snakes use the bathroom every 2 -3 weeks at the most.

Second, I rescued a ball python about 3 years ago. He had been neglected for almost 6 years. When I got him, he had NO muscle tone, flat, and was in horrible shape. He had an impaction because he didn't have the muscle to push urates and fecal out. We soaked him and massaged his tail, pushing the fecal matter out. Furthermore, the environment he came from was never cleaned and sitting on top of the A/C and heater vent. Over a 3 year period, this snake had only been fed maybe 4 times. For his first feeding with me, he couldn't even wrap the poor rat. All he could do was turn his head. He couldn't ball up. All he could do was dangle. That first winter, he ate and ate and ate. He was an eating machine. By the next winter, he was coiling rats, balling up pretty tight, and had regained muscle. Now he is your typical ball python that goes off feed every fall and starts back up in the spring. He has not ate since early October but I still offer him food every 3-4 weeks just in case he wants something. I checked him out last weekend and last night and he still is looking good.

A healthy snake cannot lose weight like some of those snakes in a couple of months. This ball python was neglected for years and years. He was housed with 2 other ball pythons that died from the neglect. After their death, the owner realized she was not able to care for the snakes and started asking around for someone to take it. When I took it, they offered me the cage but the snake smelled like cigarette smoke and the cage was the most gross thing I had ever seen and couldn't imagine it in my house. Not to mention their snake cage was their television holder. I was very appalled when I went to pick him up.

Snakes persevere through hard times very well. It really takes a lot of kill a healthy snake. No excuses are good enough for neglect.

Additionally, if my heater broke in my house and I had no heat. My snakes would be my biggest concern. I would be at Walmart buying space heaters to replace the heat loss in the snake room and I would be checking the temperatures like crazy. Not to mention, each snake I own has his or her own heat source with a thermostat. So, even if the temperature accidentally dropped really low, the snake would be able to stay warm until I figured something out.

I have gone on vacation for 10-12 days at a time in the past, and come back to cages that need some cleaning, but nothing, NOTHING that looks like the obvious neglect seen in those cages. Those look like built up filth that would not happen overnight, over a week, over a month or even over several months. A snake does not go from a robust healthy snake to skin and bones in 6 weeks. I cannot believe that you were laid up in the same house with those animals and did not know there was an issue. You should do jail time...

Dave

Wow what a disgrace! I'm in shock! That is so much longer than 6 weeks of neglect. How dare you let a sickness be an excuse to let these animals rot. Without any limbs I could make sure they got the appropriate care. As a man you lack balls, I wish I could see you face to face you loser. Hope you catch the karma bug.

You know what... I only have two snakes, a large boa and a quite sizable corn snake. There have been occasions when I've let them go for six weeks without cleaning the cages, on a normal feeding and watering cycle no less... the cages looked NOTHING like that. They were "dirty", but nothing remotely approaching that. Those cages had been neglected for months, not weeks, if not a year or more... that is an obscene level of filth.

Someone (or everyone) in this situation is not being entirely truthful.

Christ, I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say between school and work, I haven't had time to do much for my corn snake but refresh water and toss a frozen mouse once a week, and his cage is still beautiful! If I spot-cleaned the few dots of poo tonight, it'd be a display-worthy tank! This is a lot, lot more build up of feces and decay than 6 weeks, or even 6 months. I would venture as far as to say that some of those animals have not had their tanks cleaned in upwards of a year.

It seems to me there is a lot of lying and accusations and deceit happening here... on both sides. All I know is, someone, maybe several someones, contributing to living, breathing animals suffering slow, painful deaths in their own waste and/or burning to death. And that's ****ing disgusting.

Oddly enough, the link is now private and noone can see the horrible snake conditions anymore. Makes you wonder why it was brought to everyone's attention and then made private....

ditto on the link... can't see the pics... But from what y'all are saying, I'm kind of afraid to see them...

ALL my boas fast in winter for 3-4 months... And they don't lose weight... My spider ball python went almost NINE MONTHS last year without food... He lost... a few grams?

I pray that you never own another animal or breed yourself... Disability is NOT an excuse... If you can't take care of them, you shouldn't own them, period... Even while pregnant and having ankle, hip and back issues that were bad enough to get me a medical discharge from the military, I STILL take care of all my snakes... Yes, I have help from a RELIABLE friend, especially with the large snakes... But they still get great care whether I have help or not... There is NO EXCUSE...

It was posted on another forum, and countless people took screenshots. I'll try to find the thread on the other forum and save those, then repost here.

Because the person who took those pictures is being viewed worse than the person who left them in that condition. She wants to hide now because she thought she would let the pictures out after the fact to smear this guys name. Well, as deserved, it did. But she didn't have the correct torquing of the screws in her head because people are starting to ask why she went in the room, knowing it was in that condition, lived in the house, obviously had NO FEAR of snakes since she was holding them in the pictures, and did nothing to better the situation. This is the person that doesn't have the balls to make an appearance in this thread.

Jackie tucked tail and ran, too, when she was questioned about her personally witnessing these conditions and not helping the animals (and giving him another snake to boot).

I wouldn't be heartbroken to see the hobby relieved of the trio.

At least the initial accuser was smart enough to cover her butt and set Jackie up for a fall. I suppose I'm not as good a 'friend' as Jackie or Kris. Not only would I not tolerate friends keeping animals this way for any period of time, but if I was going down in flames for it I would drag the other guilty parties down with me.

 Just a warning to my pals.

Yes, I agree. I am not afraid of snakes as I have many, but I don't think I would want to touch a dead snake or a snake in horrible condition. It would make my stomach turn and I would be all squirmy..lol You say this is the person that doesn't have the balls to make an appearance in this thread but what if she already has?

What I found strange is this, Kris stated that his ex-girlfriend/roommate worked at a vet's office.

Yes, that was my snakeroom, yes, the lack of care did happen in the months the pictures were taken, and no, I am entirely responsible. My housemate who happens to clean kennels at at Vet's office and was going to take over cleaning the snakes enclosures for that period of time.

The thing that makes me ponder what is truley going on is, if you go to this website: http://iherp.com/Public/Blog/Detail.aspx?UID=66562 and view Jackie's profile. It states she is a vet tech. Now that doesn't mean they are the same person, but it still makes you think a little about this situation and wonder what is going on.

here are the screenshots of Kris' "snakeroom"

Some of these images are duplicates if I wasn't able to get the captions and the full photo in - I apologize, but I like to be thorough
