    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Kyle Van Der Veer AKA RepKyle

As a side note, one of the reasons I was a lurker for years on the BOI is how it can be used as a weapon. Kyle has informed me that I have stolen the animals that are not in the box, because the animals were in perfect condition when I got them, so I either stole them literally, or stole them by killing them with my own negligence.

If he does, he'll be shooting himself in the foot. You have picture proof that out of the box several animals were dead. That is NOT "perfect condition".
 
Why do the dishonest and 'morally challenged' always assume their attitudes to be part of everyone's way of doing business?

It is not a "weapon" when a dishonest person makes a bad guy thread on an ethical business person.

In fact, it can be good advertising, especially when the ethical business person has all his facts in a row, pictures and documents to back up his side of the story.

In your case, I wouldn't worry at all. Because by him posting here, it will negate any lies he tries to tell in the future. You will need only to refer people to the thread (which will also save you the constant defending and re-telling the story time.):yesnod:
 
This guy sounds like he has various issues going on both internally and externally. It may not be a practice of yours, but I would cut communication with this guy and avoid him. He sounds like a sociopath.

(While there are a lot of posts covering what I want to reply to, this one cover all of them, so I've quoted it as opposed to others. No offense intended to other posters.)

Maybe the BOI has changed in the many years it's been up, but when I first came here, my initial impression was more 'wild west/he said she said' than it is now. Old fears die hard.

I really don't want any advertising, but I also don't want an undeserved bad record either! :(

Nick, this guy seems like a real piece of you know what. He should be reported to the proper authorities for negligence and cruelty toward these animals. This is just a sad story, and I feel bad for how pathetic Kyle is. It's fairly obvious from his behavior that he has some mental issues, and possibly some serious drug addiction issues as well as not having a conscience. I feel bad and have a pit in my stomach just from reading this post. This guy is just a low-life piece of trash and should be punished for his actions. It really sucks reading posts like this.

Oli, I couldn't report him; He has no address. When I tried to do the type of shipping he wanted, the lady at USPS said that type of shipping must be set up in advance. She then leaned in and said, "Has you payment cleared already? That type of shipping is really only done to get packages to the homeless." (She knows I have a mail order business, I ship all my diet through that location)

Baltimore also has no regulations as to a malnourished level for reptiles like they do for mammals, and they have no reptile specialist on staff.

It really, really sucked sending his stuff back, knowing it will die in his care, but legally, it's his property, and I can't hold it. Hopefully, the animals don't suffer for too long, and he's out of the business of killing animals for good.
 
Funny how he has my dead 1.5 Pachydactylus. tigrinus for sale one week later. He said they were dead. What else did he lie about. Thief....
 
Have these issues/outstanding issues with Kyle been fixed? Feedback would be appreciated from involved parties. Thanks!
 
Kyle, why would you wait two and a half years to reply to this when I repeatedly told you about it via text, email, and voicemail? I would assume it’s because you waited until you wanted to show back up on the gecko scene after this (hopefully) blew over, so you could turn this into a game of ‘did not, did too.’
The ad you’re linking to was for the White Plains reptile show, and I was selling 1.5 tigrinus from Jon Boone. You sent me 1.4 tigrinus. If you look at the picture of dead geckos in my hand, you can see dead tigrinus. Also, your geckos were shipped back to you right after the Hamburg show, which is always the weekend after Tinley. You had the geckos back long enough that I saw your geckos at White Plains. You’d had time to sell them to John Heiser, and he brought your extras to the show.
Jon and I have a relationship where I sell his geckos at shows on the east coast. The ad you linked is over 75% Jon’s geckos, and everyone did and does know that. You knew about this when we were at gekonniday, because you repeatedly told me not to do business with Jon, because I would ‘get a reputation.’ You know I still do this, because you’re telling people I do it, and you’ve done so this week.
The only reason Kyle is replying to this thread at all is because he is trying to have his ban lifted on the Pangea forums, and he has been informed that he’s banned because of shady deals and bad BOI threads. That is also why a Pangea mod is here asking if Kyle’s issues are resolved.

To anyone reading this thread;
Kyle owed me $300.
I finally wound up with 1.1 P. rangei.
1.1 P. rangei, in good condition, were worth $350 at the time.
The male was mostly dead.
The female was thin and didn't move right.
Both animals died within a few months.
I paid over $50 to ship Kyle's remaining animals back to him.


Were the animals I received worth $300?

I would say no, no they were not.

This also assumes insane amounts of work and frustration are worth nothing.

Does Kyle owe me something? I'd absolutely say yes, but I'll never want anything Kyle has, so I say I was scammed.

What you owe me Kyle is viable geckos, that were not starved or taken care of poorly. You didn't provide them in 2009, 2010, 2011, or 2012. Doesn't seem likely that you'll provide them in 2013.
 
My story wasn't too much to take in for the people who gave it thousands of views when I posted it. Not one of the many people who talked to me about it said, "I don't get it."


The only bad feedback I got was people scolding me for not outing you sooner.

Please don't put words in my mouth - it's not too much to take in, my tiny dinosaur brain can read just fine. I "asked outright" because you are challenging your trade section ban and I was trying to be fair and get all sides of the issue in public so I didn't have to deal with the he-said he-said stuff in personal e-mail.

The ban on Pangea was originally placed in early Feb of this year when we were made aware of these issues because a mod/former moderator (Derek Dunlop) on that forum noted that you were placing ads despite still owing him "2 years later" according to him.

After being asked, Derek just now made me aware that you have, just last week, finally made good on owing him, but after reading through these issues you've had with others here on the BOI the moderators at the other forum are going to have to look through everything and make a decision. Keep in mind that it's not just a case of "does this person owe anyone anything" - they also take into consideration how things are handled. I'll make sure the head of Pangea is up to date on the issue so he can help us make the call.
 
You can keep claiming You did not get good geckos. Yet you do not show pictures of the 2.2 afroedura.loveridgei that were dead. You did not send me 15 baby crested geckos. I took 6 male crested geckos that were given to you by Allen Repashy to give away at shows when you sell the diet. You did not pay the balance for 3 months. And I never had any p.rangei available until the following season. Also you kept my 1.1 p.rangei. You were never told you would have them the next month. You kept asking for them I kept saying I do not have any. You said you were helping me out yet you leave my geckos a your friends house for a week. There is no way you can keep any gecko alive on just worms for 17 months. Your whole story is filled with inconsistency and lies. You only have proof that you left my geckos with someone else for a week. Also you have very little understanding of the abilities of geckos. You said you were taking my geckos to sell in the end that was another lie. Oh yeah Jon heisser was royalty fine with the condition of the geckos. And the deal he got. I owe you nothing. You kept 1.1 rangei, 2.2 loveridgei and 1.4 tigrinus. Total at the time $1050... For your $350. And you decided what my geckos were worth before sending them back. Also you kept the 1.1 rangei without running it past me. So by your own words that would be stealing.
