    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Last resort feeding/ How do I force feed a hognose?

Hello everyone!!
We all know hogs can be picky eaters,But I have an albino that hasn't eaten in almost six months..I've had him for almost a year an a half.Ive tried tiny pinkies,salmon an tuna scented pinkies,an small strips on salmon.He was in a 5 gallon tank,I've since moved him to a rack think he was uncomfortable or nervous in the tank.He is starting to turn white an his eyes aren't getting cloudy so I don't think he's shedding.I have 9 other hogs an haven't had any problems like this with any of them.He also has no external sores or abnormalities on him.I don't know what to do at this point,I don't want to lose him.Any advice would be helpful.

My approach (which everyone will not agree with) is to offer frogs or toads to the stubborn ones. You can't switch a dead snake back to f/t but a stubborn snake has a chance. Hognose snakes are generally sight feeders, it gets them going to see frogs jumping around. Hope it helps.
 
I'll try it for sure.but he's tiny at this point.about as thick as a pencil.he is still feisty,still hisses an flattens his head at me.Thanks for help.

I haven't tried Jason's approach, but he's probably right. When my baby hog went off food, I tried scenting with everything everyone suggested but only had luck with soaking a pinkie in very warm Vienna Sausage juice and putting her in a small box with the pinkie and left her alone. Within an hour it was gone. Only had to do this twice and she continued to eat normally after that. Good luck with your little one.
 
I have my female albino het snow born late last year and I usually have to feed her small anoles or geckos sadly but it's the only thing she eats unless I force feed her pinkies I've tried about everything in the book so if he doesn't take even frogs it wouldn't hurt to try a lizard!
 
I had Mexican Hogs for years. I had 1 picky eater who wouldn't eat anything (frogs, toads, lizards, etc). I force fed it a baby food / reptical mixture for 6 months until it ate (through a plastic syringe. It is possible to force feed, but I don't suggest it.
