    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Laura Lee Geckos in Tails

I am feeling pretty stupid right now. A while back, a few people were very upset with Laura for dropping off the grid, and I had tried to reassure them that this wasn't like Laura, that she had to have had something really awful happen to her to act like this, and that everyone handles issues in different ways and to give her a little more time.

Yesterday I sent her a text essentially asking her again to get in touch with people who are waiting, and to let me know if I could do something to help... honestly not expecting a response but just hoping anything would get her to respond to something, to get these people what they're owed.

Last night, someone tagged pics of her on facebook. If you are unaware of how facebook works, when you are tagged in a photo, if you have your settings set up in a particular way, the photos you're tagged in pop up on your facebook wall automatically, and it can show in the feed of your watchers. The photo that popped up on her "Laura Lee Geckos InTails" FB was of her with several other ladies.

The photo popped up with a description something along the lines of, "We did it, we pulled it off, Laura Lee even made it from Tampa to be a part of the surprise party for (someone whose name doesn't matter)." It was a picture of Laura with 4 other women and it was tagged at some sushi place.

A couple of people who are owed stuff commented on the photo, saying essentially, "(Lady's name), we see you've been in contact with Laura recently. Is there any way you could please tell her we're waiting to hear from her? She owes some people geckos or money." Nothing rude but in a firm tone.

Within minutes (and unfortunately, before I could get a screenshot, sorry), the post was removed from Laura's wall.

The photo along with another however is as of right now still up/tagged on Laura's second page, "Laura Lee Britt Petrila," along with someone else who's tagged her in a text-only post. The post by this other person says, "Well, they got me! I never excepted a surprise birthday party (a week early) but my dear, dear friends and loving husband made me feel so special tonight! Thank you all! I had a fabulous time and I cherish each of you! — with Laura Lee Britt Petrila and 5 others."

So essentially, while people have been super nice to Laura, and some of us have put our feet in our mouths trying to reassure others that she's just not the kind of person to do something like this, she's still ignoring contacts of all kinds and... going to surprise parties? :(

I'm posting these photos, I know they look a little silly with everything else blacked/blurred out, but as far as I know these other ladies have nothing to do with reptiles. I am just hesitant to post their names/faces where they'll be stuck permanently.

She was also tagged in a photo on facebook on May 10, out seeing Iron Man 3. At that point I was still waffling and thinking "well maybe she just really needs some time away and she'll get back to everyone now."

Two weeks later, I am just really feeling like an idiot for asking people to not get too worked up about it when this is how people who have given her all of the patience in the world have been treated.

I am also waiting for a gecko from Laura.
I won Oscar's only Ostrich in the iHerp auction to benefit Rico Walder, back in the beginning of March.
I sent payment right away.
We held off on shipping initially, because of weather, but then she became harder to get a hold of & she completely stopped talking to me after April 12. I have sent a couple messages, 4/14, 4/17, which were both read, & I sent another one 4/26, which has not been read.

Before this, I've heard nothing but good things about her & have always felt that she's a good person to deal with.

I hope that whatever she has going on is resolved & that she starts making good on transactions, especially those of us who have paid her for them.

I paid for both the auction, as well as the shipping fee.

I've sent her another message, recently, with no response.
 
I started making phone calls, as to what steps we need to take for filing police reports, if it comes to that. I spoke with Deputy Rios (813)247-8555, of Hillsborough Sheriffs Department.

Since the transactions are online, & we're not going to her residence or place of business in FL, we need to file police reports with our local police agencies, then they will forward to report onto Hillsborough Sheriffs Department, who is the law enforcement agency for Valrico, FL.

I am going to send Laura messages via FB & iHerp, to let her know that some of us are looking into reporting this. Hopefully, it will not come to that, but something needs to be done if she is going to continue to ignore us.

I did send info out to those on the thread here. I feel horrible doing so. I am shocked by this thread and the threads on FB. I view/ed Laura as my friend. I would have sent her animals before receiving money if she had wanted one/some. That is how much I trusted her.
I can't begin to imagine what has happened and why she is not getting back to you guys. I just hope this can be rectified before this has to go any further.
 
Evidently, Laura did move recently as evidenced by a post on one of her FB pages relative to all the cosmetic work she feels her new place needs (and states is already done or will be done "this week", "tonight", blah blah).

One could almost let their imagination run wild with the idea that between the home purchase and move, the home improvement plans, travel and surprise parties, etc , she might be in need of extra cash ... all that stuff takes a lot of $.

Obviously, she has been busy. Odd, how she feels it's important to impart to "those who keep asking how it's going" about her home improvement projects, but can't get back to paying customers who also keep asking how it's going.

I would hope she wouldn't sacrifice a decent reputation, character, trust and honesty for paint, baseboards, trim, furniture, travel & parties. Not saying she has, but at this point I'm not so sure I'd be willing to bet.

And thank you, Jen (Jaybee) for your honesty and disclosure.

Hopefully, her animals are still healthy and being well cared for, even when she has not taken care of her trusting, paying customers.

My last email from her was April 12, & she was ready to ship my gecko, but it was too cold on my end, so I would think the bulk of that would be behind her, & that something else has caused her to continue to evade her buyers.

Who knows? I hope she comes forward soon.
 
I am also waiting for geckos. I sold her a gecko last year, and she was to send me offspring from a pairing as partial payment. I picked a juvenile about a week before she went off the grid, and haven't heard anything since.

No, she is still ignoring everyone's attempts at contacting her.
I have refunded one of my buyers and replaced a gecko for the other.

I don't see Laura Lee coming back any time soon unfortunately.
 
I was looking at some of the orange geckos she had for sale , They're HOT !! Thanks God I came across this thread. I really appreciate FC BOI . Another one bites the dust.
 
I've not had any responses to my emails to her, not my voicemail, & text message (I know it's a current phone #).

I kept hoping that she would have contacted SOMEONE to pass along the word that she will be honoring her current deals from customers that have paid her money for geckos, but she continues to ignore any/all attempts to get a hold of her.

I held off on filing any police reports, in hopes that she would come forward.
If it was just me, I probably would just let it go as a lesson learned, but there are so many people that have paid her money & are owed geckos, as well as others who have breeder loan agreements & such.

I hate to say it, but I think it's time to move forward in filing reports on her.
 
Still not a word... what kind of person does this?? Scamming people!! It's a real crappy feeling to have paid someone for something just to have them take your money and run... I'm SO upset
 
My situation is resolved.

I received email notification that Laura sent me a refund for the gecko I was to get from her. It's an echeck, so I will wait for it to clear, but unless there's any problems, I consider my transaction with Laura rectified.
 
No, I did not receive any other contact, just the email advising that she was refunding money, but I'm not bothered by that. I'm satisfied that she is taking steps to resolve this.

I do hope she starts resolving her other in progress transactions as well.
