Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello, I am sure this topic has probably come up before but I want some recent info on exactly what any of you think. I have heard around that leopard geckos do fine without UVB lighting because of their nocturnal behavior, however I feel that they must be getting natural sunlight in the wild so why would they not need that replicated. I personally have always used a UVB light on my geckos out of fear of MBD. I also use a D3 suppliment, is that unnecessary as well? Another thing that I do is keep my geckos all on a pellet bedding because the sands are inconvenient for me. I have been told this may lead to serious problems with my geckos. I do not believe that, but let me know what you think on that as well.

i have used them for my gex since my first was diagnosed w/MBD @ 8 months old. Some say they are uneccasry, some say they are dangerous. I haven't had any directly attributable problems in 3 yrs. D3 additives are unecessary and can cause overdoses. I haven't found a consensus on this issue yet.
 
UV lighting

It is my professional opinion that Leopard Geckos do not need lighting of any kind. As stated, they are primarily nocturnal and therefore their skin and eyes are not adapted to filter UV rays. Unlike most other reptiles that bask in the sun for warmth and to assimilate Vitamin D for more efficient absorption of Calcium, Leopard Geckos rely on supplementation from their food. All they require is the ability to tell when it is daylight, so indirect natural sunlight through a window should be sufficient.
