Below is an ongoing group of threads from another forum that I am a member of. Leslie Buchanan admittedly purchased and/or traded for a GTP from a person who stated he had a snake die of IBD. She has a posting here for a couple of snakes from her collection that could have been in the same location as the GTP. She has not taken down the CL ad for the GTP and albino, so here is a screenshot in case it gets deleted. After specifically stating that she would not sell the GTP until she had it checked out, I sent an email to see if she was standing by that. Unfortunately she is not and offered to sell me both the GTP and the albino.

and here is the fauna ad that is still active:

Here is the thread I posted on the other forum and I have copied the text content in case you aren't able to see it.

On January 6th I posted a thread on CL ad just as a precaution to our members. This is the thread:

http://lonestarreptilesyndicate.com/forum/index.php?topic=2345.0

You mentioned that you were not selling either snake, but last night I saw your ad still up on CL. And just in case you try to delete it, I took a screenshot:

and here is the CL Ad:

Below is a breakdown of quotes from the above thread, and the thread started by panhandle slim regarding snakes he got from Sakara. That thread is located here and the quoted passages are from page 3:

Lucky... Aren't you the one that traded an anery for that sorong GTP and the anery went to it's new home with mites? and you told the person that one of your animals died of "probably IBD"? I could be wrong, but considering you posted pics of the same snakes in your newbie thread... I don't think I'm wrong...

the lady you traded animals with

linked to your ad for the same snakes you posted about owning here on this forum
http://dallas.craigslist.org/sdf/pet/2142397692.html

to which this was your reply...

No, if you would have read my post explaining that situation you would know. My snakes did not, and still do not have mites. I also never told that person that I had a snake die from IBD. He actually told ME that HE had a snake die from IBD. I already stated that anybody who wants to look for themselves is more than welcome to look my snakes over.

and then i said...

but if you got a snake from him, and he told you he had a snake die from IBD, that puts your entire collection at risk as well. if it came from his house, where he had a snake die admittedly from IBD, you should have every single one of your snakes checked by a vet.

and again you replied...

Oh, I am completely aware of this. That's why he's at my FIL's house in QT.

yet on another thread Diana brought the same issue up and you had a different reply...

Hold on so you are trying to sell the snake that came with mites from a house where another snake died of seizures from "IBD probably"?

and your reply...

I have not seen any mites on him, but after learning a little more, I am not selling him atm.

Seeing the CL ad up, i decided to send an email to see if they were still available, you know, maybe she forgot to take the ad down. And if they still were for sale, maybe she would tell me about the possibility of IBD. I even used the email address "snakebreederDFW". Below is a copy of the email transaction.

Re: Snakes to Rehome Save All

I still have both of them, but I didn't produce either of them. The Albino was purchased from a breeder at NARBC last year, but I do not remember the name. I purchased the GTP from another individual who purchased him from a breeder. I do not have a gram scale, so I could not give you a weight on them. They are both feeding on live hoppers right now. The boa is eating stunned live and I let the GTP hunt. I am slightly negotiable on their prices if you take them both. Thank you.

Hi I was just wondering if you still had the GTP and/or the female albino RTB available? If so did you produce them and what are their weights? Eating live or f/t? I can pick up anytime tomorrow or tuesday. Are you firm on the prices? Thanks...

You still have the snakes for sale and even still have your ad up on Fauna

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219689

You never once indicated in our brief email transaction that there may be something wrong. Have you had these snakes checked out? Can you provide proof from your vet that these snakes are not carrying IBD? You do know that if you sold these snakes to someone else, it could kill their entire collection right?

Very well laid out case. You may want to put up screen shots of the links in question. Management takes a dim view of having to visit other sites for information. They prefer all evidence to be presented here.

thanks, i figured that would be the case so i copied and pasted the content. if needed though, i can get screenshots of each post

more on the Ashley saga, i hope these animals weren't sold and have been to the vet for the sake of more peoples collections.

she has not taken them to a vet. she was asking on the other forum if anyone knew of a herp vet in dallas. her intentions seem to have been to just flip this snake. i have tried to contact the person that she got the snake from, and when i hear back i will post those emails.

One thing to clarify. She(nor anyone else) can take a boid to a vet and have it cleared of IBD. It's impossible to clear a snake of IBD. They can only confirm IBD. Even if you have a liver biopsy done, the inclusion bodies can be elsewhere in the snake's body and just not in the liver at that moment.

If she purchased a snake from a IBD home, then she's putting everyone at risk by attempting to sell or even from moving items from house to show or meeting or store possibly. Especially if there are any mites.

Not saying she DOES have IBD in her collection since we've only heard one side and much of the "proof" isn't here yet. You'd want the proof of the IBD in the other collection and perferably proof that she purchased from him. Certain species do not survive long with IBD, so after a certain time point without any deaths, it would be doubtful that there is contagion.. although again, there is no ruling out IBD completely.

:iagree:

you are absolutely right, my issue is not if the snake has IBD, rather the fact that she admitted buying a snake from a person who told her they lost a snake to IBD, then trying to sell it without notifying the potential buyer.

The ad here was turned off in her UserCP. I started to just restore it, since we often do that when questionable ads are deleted after being mentioned on the BOI, but considering the situation I didn't want to inadvertently cause someone to purchase these snakes not knowing about this thread. Instead I just made a screen shot of the ad and left it deleted.
Due to the height limit on attachments I split the screen shot into three images.

Part of the reason that there is a problem with stories outlined on other forums is that most do not share our full name requirement...and copy/pasting the quotes with mentions of screen names and first names are all anonymous third party quotations - which are not allowed on the BOI. Realistically, screen shots aren't much different...while they would show that the posts were actually made, there is still no "ownership" unless the authors full name is shown (per the requirement here).

I understand it is extra work to reprove your case to a new audience, but that is pretty much how it has to be

I had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday to get a blood panel done, but after speaking with the Herpetologist at the local zoos, they recommended some vets and said there is "no real test for IBD". I admit, I did not know a lot about the disease, and still don't know enough about it. If this snake, was infact, exposed to IBD, it has been well over a year since that. Deem me a bad guy, I honestly don't really care as I don't really look to sell snakes in the future. My intention was not to "flip" this snake. Why would somebody (besides me) want a vicious Sorong, when there are plenty nice out there? I like the challenge of taming, and love GTPs, but can't handle him since the IBD. Good day, there's my $.02, and I am done.

Wait so your saying you won't even handle the snakes because of said possibility if IBD, but yet its ok to sell sick animals to an unsuspecting buyer because you don't plan to sell anymore snakes in the future.

They got name for people like you, and it isn't anything I could write here.:censored:"

There are tests for IBD - either they flat out gave you bad information or phrased it in such a way that you misunderstood it.

Animals can be asymptomatic for years....so being exposed over a year ago means nothing.

Being a "bad guy" is a just a label. You're right - what people on a forum think of you probably shouldn't matter for a hill of beans. What matters is that you apparently can justify pawning off an IBD exposed animal to an innocent buyer. Indeed, any labels people on an internet forum end up calling you should pale in comparison to what you really are.

Selling a potentially IBD infected snake without taking the time to research the ramifications that your actions could have on someone who might possibly add your animal to a collection of boids is beyond being a bad guy.

Your actions could potentially cause an amazing amount of loss, expense and pain to an unsuspecting buyer.

Yep, there's another word for someone who would do that to another person........it goes beyond being a descriptor or a label, and would rather accurately describe a person who would so blatantly screw over another human being so badly.

Just to be clear, were any of the animals in question in Ashley/Sakara's possession (I hesitate to use the word "care") at any point?

Im thouroughly disgusted that Leslie is taking that kind of stand in this matter. Please Leslie for the sake of the animals and our beloved hobby GET OUT OF IT NOW.

Okay.
This statement was a knee jerk response to this Leslie / Slash issue, as well as some other recent threads and post's that I have been hearing / reading.
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=223071

I want to apologize to all of the "Good Guy's / Gal's" in the Texas Herp community that I may have offended with that post.
I am aware that there are "Bad Guy's / Gal's" here in Florida (as well as every other State,) and I would not appreciate being lumped in with them, or making anyone's DNBFOST list simply because I reside in the Sunshine State.
