In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

If that's the LJS reptiles guy, I just bought a Carpet Python from him. Apparently "Mite Free" meant there's no charge for the mites. :) Great looking snake, though.

I almost bought a dragon from him or her last week, but thank god i looked around a bit more and found Jen fram Kakadu.

Leslie is a man

Check out the post on LJS--that is Leslie Steinmetz. I am one of the people that bought 2 baby beardies from him that both died. A friend of mine also bought 2 baby beardies from him that both died. He did not refund her money.

This is really sad. Leslie is one of only a few people in CT that sell animals and I have not heard one good thing about her yet. I try to keep up with who is in my neck of the woods but so far no one has come forward with any good words about her animals or business practices.

Count Me Out

I just inquired about a 7' adult female boa Leslie has posted for $300 shipped at Kingsnake. This person is from CT and I'm in NH so I thought it made a lot of sense to avoid shipping and eliminate the risk and cost by each of us driving and meeting half way to do a deal in person. When I wrote asking if this was possible and if so what would the price be without shipping charges the response I received was, "I can not meet half way, the price for her is $300 shipped." Now I don't know about you but if I had a huge adult boa that would probably run a minimum of $65 to ship overnight I'd much rather deliver the animal in person and avoid the risk and hassle of shipping. Right now it's 9 degrees F with blizzard like conditions here and anyone that would prefer to ship is a little different IMHO.
After reading a few threads here on this person I have to think the animal has, 1) a RI, 2) mites, 3) both or who knows? While I agree it's not a crime to ship rather than do a deal in person I have to think there is a reason why this person does not wants to remain anonymous. Perhaps we'll find out in a few weeks when someone comes here to post....... :bolt01:

I Meant to Say...

I have to think there is a reason why this person wants to remain anonymous. Sorry, it's getting late.

Half Way.....

is about an hour and a half. Truth is I actually would have driven the whole distance had the conversation had a chance to go that way rather than the response, "I can not meet half way, the price for her is $300 shipped." I think it's called negotiation. As I said earlier there's no crime in not meeting in person and a seller has every right to do whatever. After reading the other threads here and the condition of some of the animals sold by this person Leslie is lucky I would have even bothered to drive half way to meet in the first place. Had I read the threads first I wouldn't have even bothered writing. I think I'm going to have to reverse things by checking the BOI first before writing anyone.
Another issue I have is in the ad it's written, "I can take overnighted money orders, or paypal (please add 3.5%)." It is against Paypal's terms to charge a fee above and beyond for using their service. Where did the figure of 3.5%come from anyway? Last time I checked the fee was 3%.

Greg, I wouldn't meet anyone halfway either...you could offer to drive the whole way, and meet at a local center (McD's or something) to avoid the shipping...that way you could also just pay in cash and avoid the fees...it is up to the seller to tack on fees to cover money transfer, and they just might want a little bit extra...
That said, in view of the other things written here...I don't thnk purchasing the boa woud be such a good idea...there seems to be a rather negative history with this seller.

Agreed

I'm not here to start arguments. I don't check these boards often, so i had no idea these posts were here. Many people leave these horrible sounding posts, but leave out many details. For example how long they took to contact me about dead animals, or that some I did refund their money. Or that the package arrived late. For the carpet python that had the mites, i was unawre it had and shipped it, I was never contacted afterward to be made aware of that. As far as the $300 Boa shipped, I could not meet half way, due to i don't have to time to drive all the way. The person never contacted me after i replied to him saying i couldn't make the drive. They just went off and wrote the post instead. I wound up selling the boa for $200 shipped in the end. A perfectly healhty boa. somehow it only seems the the deals where something isn't perfect wind up on here. Unless you are a big name company nobody posts good dealings on here. I've been shipping and selling reptiles for the last 12 years. There many happy people out there that didn't put posts here. It would be nice if people asked the seller about the posts left. People seem to leave out a lot of important details to these situations.

I don't know anything about any of Leslie's other shipments. (Leslie is a guy for all of you who didn't take the time to find that out). He paid me well in advance to reserve a wholesale lot of Carpets that I sold him. It was a very significant amount of money. He questioned me daily to verify shipping dates and address's, and we spoke on the phone when he got the animals to let me know they had arrived OK. Like I said, I don't know about how he is as a seller, but as a buyer he did right by me. It could not have gone better.

My 2 cents.

Great to hear!!!

RE:Lezlie

I've recently dealt with Lezlie. (he's a man) I bought some cages off him. I picked up the cages at his place and I'd deal with him again as his cages were clean and neet. It's nice to get both sides of any story so consider that when you read negative posts.

He has an animal that looks appealing to me. I may set something up with him. I'll let you know how it goes. Seems to be a mix of happy and unhappy customers but it looks like the recent deals are the ones that have been good.
