Sound like Tricky Dick,..remember?
I guess most of you have probably read the Can O Worms post. Or at least started to, but probably gave up because it got way too long, or too controversial, or whatever. So I thought I would give you all the condensed version of what I really want to say. Here goes,...
The eastern indigo is a treasure. The captive gene pool is priceless. We can not afford to screw it up. If we are not extremely careful, we will screw it up. If we do screw it up, we may never be able to fix it. And if the wild population goes extinct, we will be stuck with whatever mess we have made. And if the planets climate is as screwed up as some folks think it is, the wild population could very well disappear under the sea, or somehow become extinct. I know it sounds radical. And perhaps I'm just another "Chicken Little", sounding another false alarm. I really hope so. But we cannot afford to be complacent about this. If I am wrong, and we do our best, then no harm will come. If I'm right, and we do our best, then no harm will come to the captive gene pool. If we don't do our best, wether I'm right or wrong, we will destroy something priceless. And that just can not happen. No matter what we think of each other. No matter who is friends with who. No matter what we feel about all this. That just can not be allowed to happen. So whatever you do with regards to breeding any species, keep this post in mind. Make sure that no matter what happens, our great grandchildren will be able to see, have, and love the eastern indigo, in it's purest possible form. That's all I really wanted to convey. Thanks,
T.
