In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey, I am trying to find out if this male Liasis is a Macklott's or a Fuscus and it was suggested that I come here to ask. He was sold to me as a Fuscus but doubts have risen. I'm happy with him either way but I would like to know for sure.

Strictly my opinion. Based on what I know and what I can see in the photos, I'm inclined to say Macklot's.

The mackloti tend to have a flatter, broader head to the fuscus' more cylindrical shape.

The scalation can shift a bit from animal to animal but the supralabial scales look more like a macklots- fuscustend to have one that runs pretty much the length of the eye, macklots usually have two sharing that spot. I couldn't see it clearly in your photos but I'd take a look for a small centered scale between the frontal and prefrontal scales as well, it's associated with mackloti and not with fuscus.

Keep in mind before ripping into the person who sold it that- First of all, looking at three photos and hazarding a guess isn't the same as a definitive 100% accurate analysis... That there are a lot of Liasis sp. in captivity which are a result of specific and subspecific crossing... and finally that not all taxonomists even think that these are a separate species, so the differences and tendencies which do exist in scalation are a tough call.

LOL Dude, I am not about to reach into a bag containing two angry Liasis with my bare hand! :p

Thanks for the advice, I'll take a closer look at the scales over his head, I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for before.

And no worries, I've no intention of chewing out the breeder, he was good to deal with. And this python is a pretty good animal either way.

Thanks for your help!

That is definately a Macklots. I have been keeping and breeding waters(Liasis Fuscus) for over 10 years, and that is no way a water. Waters have NO pattern or speckling, they are one solid color on the dorsal, and their ventral side is white, orange, or yellow. Hope this helps.
