In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Lighter or darker colored Mojave? Which do you prefer and why?

I am about to purchase two Mojave ball pythons (thanks honey, great Valentines day present ). I am getting a male and a female and was wondering what do you prefer as far as colors go. I myself tend to lean towards the darker colored while my wife likes the lighter colored. I was wondering what the more "preferred" color is? I know with some snakes like pastels the brighter the better but really have no clue about these. If it matters my female will be bred to my male butter and my male will possible be breed to my pastel down the road. Any info or help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I like dark ones better, but it helps if they have some nice contrast and markings like this girl too. I have one darker than this girl, but she's my favorite.:D

I prefer dark ones with high light colored blushing and bright pattern. But that's hard to find with the spaced out reduced pattern that I prefer. Have a male and still looking for the right girl.

It's really all down to personal choice. My preference is a dark mojo, contrasted with lots of blushing. Here is a pic of a female that I produced last season. She's exactly what I look for in a mojo.

Wow. Very nice! I guess that would qualify as a "hold back" :D. Thanks for your thoughts.

I don't think I have ever seen a reduced pattern Mojave. I sure would love to though.......anyone, anyone???

Very nice snake! Thanks for your thoughts. I like this type as well.

By reduced, I mean in the number of alien heads versus the genetic reduced pattern look. I ll post a pic of my male later when I get to the PC.

I agree with everyone else. I prefer darker Mojos, mainly just for the lighter areas to really "pop" out.... But I have seen and also sold some lighter colored ones that are pretty dang sharp too! Really its comes down to when you are looking at your options, whichever one just jumps out to you the most, because you're the one thats going to be working with that animal after you purchase it.... like I said I agree with everyone elses opinions so far, but sometimes the coolest things come from going against the grain....Good luck :D

I like anything with high contrast. But I really like the mojave with high yellow or a touch of gold. Here is my gal, she gets 'lighter' every day.

Here is the male I was talking about, you can kinda see the larger spaces between the areas with pattern, that coupled with high blushing is my favorite look in Mojos

Some good looking mojos in this thread. I completely forgot to add that I really like a striped mojo, too. Chris' mojo reminded me of that! lol

I agree Matt, I love pretty much everything about Chris's Mojo. Would love to have her to make Black Magics with. I love how bright the yellow is on your's Matt, with nice high blushing. Ok someone needs to send me a mojo girl like these 2.

This was the darkest mojave I owned

unless one counts the striped girl

I really don't remember which was darker (I think it was the first one, even though the pic might not look that way.

I like the exceptionally dark ones....but I also like the light, bright ones.

and the ones that don't quite look like mojaves (she sort of fits into the lighter/brighter category, too)

and the reduced pattern ones (the last one can fit into this category, as well; so I'll throw in another pic of her)

Thanks everyone. Those are some great looking Mojos! I like the stripped ones a lot. I just ordered mine from Garrick Demeyer so as soon as I receive them I will post pics so you can tell me what you think.

I guess I do like more than just dark mojos. All of those that Harald showed are (IMO) awesome examples, despite some of them that wouldn't necessarily be described as "dark". Below are a couple more examples that I like...including one that's not dark at all. lol

1) Pastave x YB (flash washed out some of their color)
2) Hypo Mojo x het Hypo (no flash, but a little too much sunlight coming
through the window)
3) BEL (Super Mojo het Ghost) from last season

:iagree: If she doesn't go this year I'll probably be picking up a black pastel or sable to go with her.

I prefer both with lots of blushing. Here's my lighter girl that every time I look at her I think to myself "you gotta be more than just a mojo". Unfortunately I can't get info from the breeder on the pairing that made her. So only way to find out is by breeding her. I'm making black magics and butter x mojave bels with her this season. She just shed, so should be ovying soon!

Here's my darker girl. She's just doesn't wanna go over 1200g for me. Don't know whether to hold on to her or let her go, lol. She did weight 1350 but then took a huge dump and her empty weight was just about 1200g. :/ Definitely making me wait for her to get to size!
