In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

LLL Reptile - Unhappy

Actually it would have to be the Anopheles mosquito, the females of which transmit the malarial parasite. Mosquitos also transmit such lovely things as Eastern Equine Encephalitis and West Nile Disease.

The plague killed maybe 25 million Europeans in to Middle Ages but many were infected by direct person to person transmission (pneumonic plague) though many were certaily inflected by flea bites (bubonic plague). Malaria has killed many more than that and continues to kill well over 100,000 people per year in Africa and Asia.

Actually There were three major epidemics - in the 6th, 14th, and 17th centuries.

The death toll was 137 million victims.

Bah no edit..sorry. Obviously this is an estimate. But there are also countless other outbreaks throughout history.

I am not a post whore... really I am not. But as long as we are totally off topic and no one is complaining....

What was the pandemicwith the highest death tollor a single years time?

That's good. Malaria killed more than that in the 20th century alone.

I would have to guess the 1918 Influenza outbreak.

Well, I tried LLL for the first time since they have the best price for the particular Vision cage I was looking for - good communication, good packing and shipping. Heh - my only complaint was that they forgot my free t-shirt, but I was happy with the experience. Cages arrived clean, the glass doors super-well packed and packaged.

They've always sent me what I expected...imports that aren't too great, and cb's that are ok...
but then, I have chopped down the mightiest tree in the forest

A HERRING !!!!

Does anyone live close by one to one of their retail stores and visit it relatively often. I need a good set of eyes to check on a snake for me. I would really appreciate the favor.

Thanks,

Dan

I live in San Diego, personally I would advise you pass on their reptiles. I have many friends who have had to deal with sick animals from them. I moved down here and purchased 5 snakes from them in a one month span. This was before I really knew much about them. 3 of the 5 died soon after purchase and they said too bad to me. They only have a 24 hour quarantee, if the animals comes sick and you do not notice immediately you are left in the dust.

When I contacted them they informed me that they do get WCs and CBBs(which they mix with each other in cages). Sometimes they need to be treated for internal parasites and they do start treatments, but they do not tell the buyer about it.

Thanks for your advice and I think I’ll follow it. Besides they refuse to provide pictures of what you order. They redirect you to their page where they have a “generic picture” of the species in question. I know how that species looks like, it would be the same thing as checking the picture on a book. What I want to know is the looks of the specific animal I’m ordering. It seems to me animals certain people/companies treat their animals as commodities rather than individuals.

The last time I went in was to purchase some sex probes, they have great prices for supplies. Well I saw their Emerald Tree Boas in their water bowls, from what I have learned this is not good for ETBs. A lot of their snakes do not shed completely from what I have seen, they keep the smaller snakes in deli cups that are way to small, the last I saw was a kingsnake coiled up about 3-4 times inside the cup touching the sides of the cup with a pinky crawling on its back.

This has been my experiences and the things I have seen.

i have done business with LLLReptile on and off for about 8yrs... the animals i purchased off Scott back then were top notch. i know they have a lot of WC stuff, i personally stay away from WC animals cus they are too much risk, especially for the money.

IMHO, i would much rather spend the extra cash on CB stuff.... BUT, i think the customer service is second to none - when ever i have a question Scott usually emails me back with a few hours - i do agree with them needing to have individual pics available of each animal - this is a BIG turn off.

i recently purchased a vision 622 for a very good price, shipping was expensive, but hey - the cage and packaging together weighs 85lbs.

also it took awhile for the cage to get here... but i think it was less time than they told me it would take. what can you say when you order from the manufacturer. all and all - i would give them my business again, for supplies.

sorry to hear someone wasn't happy with their service, what can you say when you have been in business for so long. i am sure they have way more satisfied customers than unsatisfied ones.

Has Cali really gotten that laxed in the enforcement of there "animal neglect" laws? I haven't lived there for years, but they used to act pretty quick when something like this was reported. Or has it even been reported?

This keeping of reptiles in "Deli cups" stuff is really starting to piss me off. I barely aprove of them being shipped that way, let alone "living" like that. They need exorcise. It's important to their growth and health. I read more and more about these large reptile suppliers doing this. Why are they such cheapskates? Most of the "supplies and caging" necessary to the upkeep of the business is a tax write off anyway. Spend now, get most back later. Think about the animals, not the $$$$. They are your livelyhood in this type of business.

Personally, just hearing about the way they keep their animals will keep me from concidering them for "ANY" purchases. :toiletcla

Back on topic.............
I don't really think the maggot thing deserved this much attention. Yeah, they are discusting critters........But herps love them. I even bred my own for a while when I was caring for a couple beardies, and a Euro-Mali. They loved them. I just pick out the ones they don't eat, so they don't pupate into flies. No big deal. No diseases, no illnesses, not a thing went wrong with any of the lizards.
Just take the advice, and use them. You already paid for them, willingly or not. It's not worth upsetting yourself so much. (in the future of course) :)

Anyway, just my $0.025

Ciao,
Rick

Regarding the wish to have individual pics posted...that is just unrealistic for a wholesaler/importer. The amount of time spent to publish a shot of each and every animal would be tremendous...perhaps they should implement a system wherebye the consumer can pay for a pic if desired?
But then, how many of you would pay the extra five bucks or so just to see the animal?? If you would, maybe you should express this desire to them, and see what LLL says.
I've always found them to be a "fair" company...nothing wonderful, but nothing horrible either.
