In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Lock? yay or nea...

I know this is a really crappy picture, but a) I didnt want to waste time looking for my camera so I used my phone, and b) I didnt want to disturb them by opening the tub.

This is my 2 1/2 year old male normal Beau @ 955g and my female normal, Big Mamma that I picked up two weeks ago @ 2093g (age unknown). I put them together tuesday night.

This is the first I have seen their tails together at all, though sometimes their tails are not visible. Is this looking good? I know the usual is three days on and three off, but being as he is just getting the idea, and its getting pretty late in the season, should I leave him in an extra day or still go ahead and take him out tomorrow night and give him a break?

Also, when we got her, she was paired with a mojave male. Does her accepting Beau mean that the pairing didnt take? or would she still go ahead and keep breeding even if it did?

She could definitely keep breeding even if the Mojo did get her. That is just one of many cool things about ball pythons, they can have multiple sired clutches.

You can also leave him in an extra day without issue. If he keeps eating while breeding, he will be more than fine. If he goes off feed while you are still pairing and you are leaving him in a day or two longer, just make sure when he does get his rest he gets enough time.

(Sorry if that was confusing)
Good luck.

Thanks. I will see how things go and take him out tomorrow or the next day. Then Ill give him a few days and a meal and see if they wanna go for another round. This is exciting for me and my husband as it is our first attempt at breeding. Our only other female is at least another two years away from being breedable.

caught some more action! in the close up, you can see that he has her vent open! I know its kind of blurry in the pic, but in real life it was MORE than evident.

Great!!! I am so happy they both took to each other so quickly. Its exciting to see them getting along. I know as far as matings go, this is about the most boring of all, but I cant help but be excited just thinking about the eggs and babies I may have in a few months. Starting after I remove Beau, I going to try and palpate her every few days to see if I can get an idea for whats going on in there. My husband and I are going to start working on modifying an old mini-fridge we have. I know I shouldn't expect too much just yet, with my luck I may get all slugs, but still, I want to be prepared and hope for the best... now I'm rambling, lol. Anyways, Ill keep updating!

BTW, sorry about the messy junk drawer in the pic, lol.

Congrats on the lock!! I don't think you'll find a right answer on how often or long you should do pairings. Some people keep the male and female together all season and some, like me, only pair once or twice a month for three days. I heard, can't verify the accuracy, that it takes males about a week to build up another sperm plug, so I try to wait at least a week before I use a male again. I have noticed, when I pair my males less often, they eat more through the season. As for the female accepting Beau, she'll probably take with most males until she ovulates or becomes gravid.

Thanks! Being as, as far as I know anyways, this is is first time breeding, I think I'll go easy on him and do the three on/three off. I know hes a big boy (even though he is half her size lol) but hes still my "baby" and I don't want to over work him. Its good to know that there is the posibility of her having taken some of the mojave's sperm. It would be so exciting to get some Mojo babies! Either way though, Ill be excited to get anything.

Oh and BTW: They are locked again this morning! :D
