    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey there everyone, I've been prowling the forums for a few months now and have just decided to "come out." I am a Philly Resident and share my life with two Savannah monitors, one Colombian red-tail boa, a large pack of pet Norway rats, a breeding colony of ASF rats, six dogs, and a toddler.

I'm looking to develop connections in the reptile world and share experiences with people who have similar interests. I can't tell you how often I am berated for keeping monsters by all the normies in society. If you're interested in striking up a conversation, feel free to write me. Maybe someday I can bum a ride to Hamburg!

Take care,

Jo

I don't live any where near Pa., so can't help ya' with rides to the shows up that way, but welcome to the gang here! Your in good company, we all have some of those non reptile kinds telling us how crazy (and worse) we are for our obsession.

Sounds like a very nice collection you have there. I too keep snakes, lizards, 4 pet rats & 7 dogs. Look forward to hearing more about you babies.

Hey Jo, Im Adam with Redline Pogona we are also new to this forum so welcome! We breed bearded dragons and supply feeder insects to large pet stores and zoos. If you have time check out some of our photos on Facebook.

Thanks, Adam! Gorgeous dragons you have there. It sure has been interesting watching the Bearded Dragon transform the way it has, like boas. It seems they have so much potential for developing morphs.

Welcome aboard, Jo. I usually attend Hamburg, but come from the other side of the state. Hopefully you can find someone out your way that heads up there as well.

Hello again. Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome! I hope that in time we can get to know each other better and share our experiences working with the animals we share our lives with.

I'm currently trying to better understand reptiles and their psychology. I once thought that reptiles were incapable of being true "pets" because it seemed all they ever did was kill and eat. Then I met my friend's truly unique RES Turtle. Axl Rose comes up to my friend to solicit attention, play fetch (!), and crawl into his lap to hang out. I'm trying to find a logical reason that would explain this behavior because I find it strange that a turtle would behave like a dog. I actually didn't believe his claims at all until I saw them with my own eyes. Any thoughts? Are some reptiles capable of what we know as affection?

I am now working with my Savannah monitors on targeting. This is a method based in behavioral psychology that uses operant conditioning to teach animals to touch a "target," (a dowel rod, spoon, or hand for animals less likely to bite,) in order to receive a reward (chase a cricket or pinky on tongs). Zoos use this method for animals at the zoo to make handling and transportation of the animals easier.
