In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Look What The Post Office Did To My Box

Reply

WOw this turned into bash everyone else, I was just posting some info on how the package was treated, other then the lady wanting to ship usps, she didnt do anything wrong really. I prefered a different shipping method, but she was obviously comfortable with them. It was the simple carelessness of the post office. The box looks as if it were run over, and instead of the person who did it to own up they went ahead, and left it like they did nothing, and that is how the package was sent to my house.

My question is who thought it would be a good idea to ship live animals through the postal service??? It's ILLEGAL. I've turned down even the best deals when the seller refused to use FedEx or UPS.

As for the seller, report her to the postal service and she'll change her shipping methods pretty quick.

It is legal to ship lizards and frogs with them. But in my opinion it is a very poor choice for a carrier. I can not even get dry goods shipped on time through them. I can send it overnight, it gets there three days later, or even not at all.

In line with what Chuck said, where do you get this crap:

I have no problem with your refusal to use USPS, and honestly wish more buyers would not do the deal when the seller imposes a shipper that the buyer is not comfortable with. But all this "illegal nonsense"? Snakes .. Yes. Geckos ... No.

KillerPythons ..... the BOI is like a box of chocolates ... once you open a thread, you never know what you are going to get !! The only problem in my view in the whole deal would be if the seller didn't square things with you.

Here is the latest on that. I talked to the post office, and they siad package is insured, so thats fine, But it is up to her to reimburse me my money. I filed through paypal already about it, but we will see what happens. You are right about the box of chocolates thing I guess. Which is fine, I was just informing, and its cool to see peoples opinions and stuff, but sometimes it goes out to right filed from the topic headline. You know what I mean? ALright thanks everyone, and I will let you know what happens.

Sean,

I just wanted to say, sorry for your loss. I don't care to do any breeder bashing or anything and I ship and recieve animal shipments through other carriers. BUT being a a big Ebayer, I get a lot of things sent via USPS and I believe that no matter what is in the box, it should not have been treated that poorly. I don't care if it was a 2 cent key chain or a rare ming dynasty vase!

Just my opinion....
Amie

Sean,
It is up to you whether you divulge the name of the seller, etc. But your last post does raise some questions. You mention filing with PayPal (a claim?), and finding out from USPS that the package was insured. First and foremost in a situation like this is for the buyer to contact the seller, and for them to respond promptly with a solution. Might I ask, what has been the seller's response ? Why did you contact PayPal, which is usually only done if the seller is not being pro-active with a solution ? Thanks.

Paypal won't insure live animals.

You can ship non-venoumous lizard under 24", chelonians, fish I believe, and aves as well as amphibians.

NO SNAKES.

Who packed the box? It was a crappy job. It was NOT done well at all and for that reason alone, not that there are not others, I'd like to know who the seller was.

My honest answer....I have had 3 packages not show up on time through usps out of at least 200. My money was refunded to me all 3 times and then returned to the buyer. in my opinion I think ups and fed ex are a joke (but thats my 2 cents) If usps can't get it there by the next day I use DHL.

No it is not illeagal to ship live animals through the postal service. go to www.usps.com and browse away at their live shipping policies.

Yes, I noticed it was a poor pack job and the postal service and the seller are both at fault. But even I have tried new packing and shipping methods that didn't work, but I re-imbursed the seller for their loss 110% every time.

BUT...lets wait to see how this seller is going to handle this before every one starts flying off the handle, and rippin this persons reputation to hell.

I'm just scared of selling anything to a member of this site, I mean if one thing goes wrong...BAM...it's off to the BOI they go, before I even know what happend.

If any of you do not want to buy from me since I stated I like usps...don't buy from me. I do ship through whoever my buyers request me to, if they wish to pay the extra $. But one more time for the cheap seats...I LIKE USPS.

everything I sell is guaranteed 100%

IMO the seller should make good on this deal. There is NO REASON for this! Not only does it make the (reptile) industry look bad but this is the reason why many carriers DO NOT want to ship live animals.

Shipping reptiles correctly is not cheap, when you take into consideration the amount of time and effort that is needed to get the animals to their destination ALIVE. Saving a few bucks, ends up costing a hell of a lot more in the long run. When you do it correctly there is less stress on the animals, less paperwork (if you are a business) and less headaches dealing with stressed out customers.

To the seller, you make more money not having to replace senseless DOA's! If you are new at this, take this as a learning lesson in shipping reptiles. Contact http://www.superiorenterprise.com and buy a few boxes.

So you ship snakes via USPS?

Only certain animals can be legally shipped thru USPS and they are TERRIBLE as far as getting things anywhere on time. Don't try and save a few bucks. Use a REAL overnight carrier and not one that says it MAY arrive overnight.

Cant ship turtles or tortoises through USPS. I made that error a while back and it was returned to me the next day.

They used to allow that but have recently changed it.
Makes no sense.
You can't ship a turtle but you can ship a gator thru them. :bolt01:

When I conatcted the seller she said she was going to contact the post office, and I should do the same, and she would get back to me and never did, so that is why I filed yes a claim with paypal. I still havent heard from her yet. We will see what happens.

Do you mind telling us who you bought them from??

Thanks Erik

SPJ...I never said anything about shipping snakes...I do dart frogs, salamanders and lizards. Thats why I posted the website so everyone here could go look at usps's live shipping policies, and as I said before usps works better for me than any other company, but that's just me, and they don't tell me it may get there overnight...It's guaranteed on time or your money back, and all packages are automatically insured for up to 100$, and again...so far only 3 out of approx. 200 shipments thru them have not showed up on time. I am also not saying you suck, because you use ups and I don't like them. (thats just an example. I don't know or care who you use, just as long as whatever I buy from you arrives live, healthy and on time and if it doesn't you'll refund my money or send me replacements and I'm a happy customer)

The seller GUARANTEED live arrival! They showed up DOA. You are entitled to a refund! (IMO)

Nowhere does the seller state shipping will be via USPS.

It doesn't matter!

You asked: What is the age and size of these girls, is shipping 20 plus insurance a flat rate, if not what is shipping to zip 07730. Is live arrival garaunteed? Let me know. Thanks

Seller Replied: 20.00 shipping 2.60 for insurance. live arrival gar. and age is aprox 1 yr, thanks

Enough said!

Sean, leaving a link without a screenshot is not good practice on the BOI as eventually that ad will go away.
