In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello,

I am a beginner in snakes. Would like to have a corn snake or two. ( I just like the idea that the two of them would have each other as a friend, maybe I am wrong. What do you think, two snakes in a 40 gallon tank, if two, same or different gender?
Anyhow, I do not want to go out and buy a snake from a breeder or even a pet shop because I believe there are a lot of snakes (only corn snakes please) that need a good home. I am willing to pay an adoption fee and / or shipping costs. Tried to get hold of the SnakeCharmerGuy from Ohio, but someone said there is something fishy. There are no rescues in my area that deal with corn snakes, I am really having a hard time finding an unwanted corn snake. I live in Collegeville, PA 19426.
If I do not have luck on my side, I probably will go out and buy a snake from a breeder. I like the idea of raising a little baby, that must be so sweet, but on the other hand I would like to rescue a snake.
If anyone can give me information and it is not a scam, please write to me.
Thanks Insa

Insa,

Have you tried "Forgotten Friends" reptile rescue in PA? I don't know that they have a lot available, but it would be a place to start. You may also want to keep in mind, that I don't believe many rescues like to ship the animals, but it varies on a case by case basis with some.

Hang out and do some "homework" learning about cornsnake care! Many rescues also want to know what kind of knowledge you have about properly caring for the snake before allowing you to adopt one. Most snakes do better kept one to an enclosure, and have no need for a "friend", though some can be successfully housed together. Make sure you have everything set up properly BEFORE you look at getting your snake, and you will have much better luck keeping a healthy, happy pet.

If you do not have any luck finding a rescue, there are many good corn breeders here on Fauna, and you can usually have better luck buying one from a quality breeder than you would from a PetCo or some such store, and even when paying shipping, get one for a comparable price. Do your homework on the breeders too, as there are good breeders and bad breeders out there as well.

Best of luck finding your new baby!

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I have tried Forgotten Friends, Rescue in Yardley, even paid an initial 10 dollar fee that is not refundable.
I think, some of the rescue ads are a scam, if you ask me.
I have been doing quite some homework, my husband keeps saying:"how much is there to read about on a snake"?
Anyhow, I am not giving my hopes up yet, but I might go to the Reptile Expo in PA on December 2nd and get a baby there.
We wil see.
Thanks Insa
