In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Looking for general advice on amazon tree boas.

So I've been trying to do research on Amazon tree boas over the past few day and haven't really found much to be honest. One good website I found was Urbanjungles.com. But I'd like to get some more information from people who have experience with the species. I'd definitely like to keep them in the future so I am doing my research in advance. lol. So from what I've found I heard they are communual so I would definitely like to set up like a small "colony" of sorts. probably just a male and a few females. I was looking through caging and I found that AP has some really nice looking arboreal cages for pretty darn good prices. I was thinking about getting the A25 which is 4x2x4 would this be big enough for like 3-4 snakes in the same cage? I would probably be feeding them in seperate containers, and I like the bigger tank because it gives more options to sort of decorate the tank. and I like that the snakes will have lots of room to move about. The next biggest thing I was wondering about was how easy would it be to keep up the heat and humidity in a cage this big? I was thinking of probably getting like a RHP for the top of the tank and flexwatt on the bottom? with like peat moss or some substrate that would hold moisture well. Does that sound good? I may get some of APs hide boxes as well because I love how it's like a nesting box type hide. although something that would come apart for easy cleaning would be nice. and I'd probably have like fake plants in there hanging from the walls and ceiling of the cage. Does that sound like a good setup? If any of you have any of APs arboreal cages if you could post some pictures that would be nice too. and any information on keeping ATBs happy and healthy is also appreciated. :)
Thank you!

ATBs are not communal, not sure where you heard that. I keep all of mine in separate enclosures. Feeding ATBs out of the enclosure would be a major pain IMO. I'll reply more later when I have time but you should check out this website:

well this is the site that I found to be most helpful, they seemed to have the most experience with them. Also just about all the people who I have seen keeping them who have more than one animal keep them in pairs or trios in a single cage.

Sorry I forgot to come back to this post earlier.
Generally for any snake, it's advised to keep them one per enclosure, simply to keep the stress down and for ease of monitoring health, feeding and water intake, sheds, etc. I wouldn't keep ATBs communally but I do know a few people who have posted that they do, it's just not something I would encourage. Also male ATBs can be territorial and combat, just keep that in mind. The only time I would allow more than one amazon in a cage is for breeding purposes.

Simply because I have so many reptiles, I keep setups as simplistic as possible, with newspaper as bedding. I heat my snake room and do not need to provide supplemental heat to the ATBs.

Baby and juvis I keep in tubs like this:

Larger juvis and adults I keep in cages, 20" cubes or the 16x16x20 size, set up similar to this:

good luck!
