In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

looking for info on 05 ch baby balls from tony hurt

I sent Wayne 9 CB females and 18 ch well established females [he agreed to take a few less because I was sending 9 cb pastel siblings females].
A few days later I received the 30 males from Wayne that just happened to be Females in VERY poor shape. I lost about 6 of those animals the rest are close to 200 grams now and doing great.

It’s always good to hear the other side of the story. You never told us this part of the story Wayne. You sent back 30 snakes and in Tony’s own words “…Females in VERY poor shape…”. At that point in time you haven’t even mentioned to him the fact that they could be sick, you were only questioning their sexes.

A while back and referring to Tony you said …”I'm not on here to put him down”…followed by: …”he sent me a e-mail that said he lost 20 out of 700.i find that hard to believe. imy self will not buy from him again…”. At least you could have told the whole story as it happened.

Personally (and as I asked before) I would still like to see a picture of your set-up with 160 individually housed baby balls. Not that I doubt you but as you said about Tony ”I find that hard to believe”. Bear with me that this is nothing personal against you, for all I care you can have the best ball python husbandry in the world. But I have nothing against Tony either. I bought from him and the pythons were great and still are.

Now you planted a seed of doubt in my mind, and I need to know if I was just lucky or you were right and there was in fact a problem with the animals you received.

Thanks.

Tony's a great guy and has been a friend to me in the past. What I am about to say is not meant to reflect negatively on him, as he is new in this business and still learning. So if you get upset by this Tony, well, it's ok. Ya think after what I have been through since June 21st that it's gonna bother me? Not.

I know what happens with these farmed hatchling balls. I've seen it happen for years, I have seen people get huge shipments of them and seen many of them die off before they could be sold. I think it sucks. These fresh hatchlings are brought in by the importer, sold to the buyer (in this case Tony) and passed on to the next buyer and the next, and the next..etc. A lot of these "captive hatched" babies end up dying, A LOT, and I think it is really sad. I mean, when I hear stories of people on their way back from picking up a fresh shipment of these animals, most of which have never had food or water in their lives, stopping off at pet stores trying to peddle them off, it just sickens me. It really does.

It's ALL about the money with these farmed baby balls though. I agree that if Wayne did have missexed animals he should have notified Tony much sooner, he should have sexed them immediately upon receiving them. That's Wayne's fault. If people are going to be in this business, they should learn one of the basic things HOW TO SEX THE ANIMALS THEY ARE WORKING WITH! Speaking of that, apparantly they weren't sexed right when they were shipped out, were they?

The point of my post is..hmm, what was it.. oh yeah! If you do not have the proper facility/caging to house large amounts of baby ball pythons, DON'T buy them, even if you think you can make a few bucks! Something about the whole ball python business just sickens me anyway. Blah.

In the above quote, I am referring to Tony's customer not properly sexing the snakes when he shipped them back to Tony. I wanted to clear that up as I got a pm a few minutes ago and there seemed to be some confusion as to who I was referring to, Wayne or Tony.

Wayne just showed me pictures of his facilities and I would say that I retract my previous statement. His ball pythons seem to be very well cared for. Thanks for taking the time in doing so Wayne.

Bryon,

Thanks for your explanation. It makes sense, almost a "damned if you do damned if you don't" type of thing. You don't give water: dehydration and renal failure. On the other giving water in certain parts of Africa can be almost a death sentence for those baby balls.

Regards.

No prob , thats why we're here , to help and all that. Its a little hard to understand if you've never dealt with ch before. I have a few times and its always been iffy at best for the first few weeks. I've had perfect eaters fall over dead for no apparent reason to watching them regurge meds and waste away.Thankfully you get some good ones that really suprise you on how well they do over time.

ch balls

Ch balls can be wonderful or they can be a nightmare. You have to get them from the first few shipments. If you get them from the last few shipments you will have alot of loss--We have almost a 95% success rate with our ch babies and so do most of our customers. I tend to agree with the kidney failure theory as when the late ones start coming in--they reek of amonia odor. Many will die or many will puke a die. It is a terrible thing, but i will say this--every year, the treatment of import baby balls is getting better and better. There are several breeder/dealers that buy 10,000 or more and set them up individually--that is a far cry from even 7 or 8 years ago-when many importers put them in bins together and just waited to sell them or for them to die. I bet the amount of ch balls that live nowadays is a dramatic staggering increase from back in the day when no one was setting up 100 lots. You have to think-nowadays you have smaller hobbyists setting up 100-200 and alot of people are doing it-Not too mention the 40,000 or so that get setup by larger scale companies and taken care on a weekly basis. That is a big positive for the species as a whole-Ben

I gotta agree

Have to agree with ben here...

As far as the kidney failure theory, I took a lot of the babies that had died on premises and had necropsies done on them by my consulting vet, Dr. Mark Wilson....some of you probably know him from Tom Crutchfields and glades.
When we cut them open, almost always where that green blotchy stain is after they die was a ruptured gall bladder, and that is the fluid from the gall bladder, not the kidney.
I have samples out the path labs and will update everyone when they become available.
